Christmas Update

Dear Fods,

Debbie breezed through her first round of the new chemotherapy and while her counts are way down (which is expected) she is still up and about and trying to do too much for Christmas, as usual. Her WBC is 1. something and her anc is <200 which means that she is totally immuno-suppressed, but she is still up for the movies -- with a mask and her sanitary wipes! We saw Charlie's War yesterday and she and Joey are at Kite Runner now. Just amazing!

Debbie remains platelet dependent and she needs to go to HUP at least once a week for a refill. This may be how it will be for the foreseeable future. We are scheduled to go to HUP and see Dr. Porter on Friday -- but do not expect any new news on anything yet. Debbie will start round 2 of the new chemo in early January and we are hoping that her counts will recover enough for her to avoid getting so sick like the last time. Since this is not a clinical study, however, Dr. Porter will have much more control over the dosage and timing than was the case last time.

We expect to be home for Christmas with the boys. Jessie and the kids will come up toward the end of the week and will stay for a few days. Depending on how everyone feels, we may do the First Night Event at the shore house. They have a number of choirs, magicians, story tellers, etc. that should be fun for everyone. Of course, it is all capped off with a giant fire works show.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and thank everyone for their continuing support for Debbie and our family.

Debbie sends her love to all.

We're looking forward to Ethan opening his presents. He's getting into the spirit of things. I didn't think that happened for a few years but.. He hardly talks but he can get out the falalalala's. He is so cute!Ok break time is over for me. It's time to set the table. Have a great Christmas!

Deb, you never cease to amaze me! Sounds like a wonderful Christmas ya'll have planned. Blessings to you and your family and friends. Kate's home right now. Goes back on Christmas day. We've had some wonderful time with the kids this week. Laura's blooming nicely (Matt's wife). Can't wait for that grandbaby in April. S/he has Matt's nose. But we don't know whether s/he has a penis or not. They're choosing not to find out the sex of the baby. I'm sooo looking forward to it! You understand.
As always, prayers continue. Love, Mussie

Dear Debbie,
Enjoy yourself this Christmas. Love the Christmas picture of those grandbabies. I can't believe how big they are! Will be heading up to see Mom the day after Christmas. Family coming from near and far. Won't stay too long as too many people only confuse her. I get to see her all the time anyway. I plan to take in some movies this break, too. And I have a poster project to grade for 110 kids! We'll see how that goes. Anyhow, glad to hear that you are out and about.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Debbie and Joe:

How wonderful you are doing! I am thrilled to hear this news. Mom said you sounded great on the phone.

If you are up for another movie, Mere, Colin and Dave took in National Treasure Dos. They said is was very good. Dave wants to see Charlie Wilson's War. That will likely be next.

Mom is coming over this afternoon for pasta, her presents then Mass. We did WalMart yesterday and I am not sure who faired better. We talked about her giving in to the local grocery chain though it may be a little pricey...it is a heck of a lot smaller.

As usual you are taking care of us again. Thanks from both of us. We have been enjoying your treats!

We are enjoying having Mere back in the fold for a spell. She is loving lounging around and sleeping her queen-size bed. She absolutely hates being in a twin lofted to the ceiling. Awww College!

Colin faired well thru his finals. Picked up his first girlfriend about a month ago. A senior girl who is a super star on the volleyball/basketball court. This is a first for her as well as she has been too busy being a studette. What a shift in gears for him! We shall see how this goes. I will keep you posted.

Bee did well also on finals and he remains to be the quiet one of the bunch. He is just starting to sprout and his voice is now not being mistaked for me or Mere's as much. After the first of the year he and Colin will be starting the agility training that Colin did last year in St. Louis.

As for Dave and I, we are doing well. Dave is busy as the year is coming to a close. I am enjoying the break from asking folks for money.

Our prayers are with you and the rest of the Teklits this Christmas and always.

God Bless all of you and keep you "healthy".

Love, COD Eileen

..well, hearing that news is just about all the christmas present i need, or want.. keep it going deb. i'll keep encouraging my friends to donate those platlets.. i can't, due to anemia i think.. but i'll ask...
our open house went well. at first it was kind of slow.. lot of food, and only about6 of us,, then slowly, patrick's friends from college started to appear, and some of mark's friends from school.. they made thier way up to the "octagon".. that is what they all call the front room upstairs cause there are 8 walls.. anyways,, around 8pm they came down, all hungry as can be.. don't know if it was from the web site on the computer that they were laughing about (edoser.com) virtual drugs.. or what.. but know that the pizza, chips , quiches, shrimp, and deli sandwiches quickly disappear.. and so did the one bottle of red wine.. i knew EXACTLY who took that and busted him big time! needless to say, that kid( a kid from thier old high school) is even more on my S.L. than before... don't know if he was just "testing me" or
what.. either way...he is on testy waters over here(is that an expression?) Two of patrick's new friends that are on his floor at the dorm spent the night also.. so it was alot of fun...
Saturday Patrick went to the debutant ball, had fun and looked nice, even with his full head of hair.. although,, the thing to do at college is to have your keys on a landyard.. once he put the whole thing in his pocket and didn't have it hanging out, he looked even nicer. .said they had "high class type food" salmon, crab..etc.. so, he ate a salad and hit taco bell on the way home....geezzz
Mark had batting lessons again yesterday.. is helping tim deliver a 6 ft deli sandwich to his staff right now. .then we'll relax and start to enjoy christmas eve.. we always watch its a wonderful life.. and every year..patrick usualy says funny stuff under his breath which gets him sent to his room, but last year he made it through the whole movie, and am hoping he does again this year.. it entails alot of tapping on him by me.but it works..
i hope this is a great christmas for all of you,.. you certainly earned it.. the shore sounds like alot of fun.. hope the weather holds out for all the festivities...you are in my prayers as always,, and i want to wish all the teklits, and there seem to be new additions every year , a merry christmas, and happy, healthy new year.. love.. mdf

Debbie,

Brian & I hosted our annual Christmas Eve dinner and it was a lot of fun. Harrison & Sawyer were adorable as usual and extremely well behaved. They enjoyed playing with Milana and Sawyer was a gentleman and shared his new rocking horse with Milana, the looks on their faces were priceless. Harrison was thrilled with his gifts as well. It was a great evening. I hope you enjoyed your evening with your family. We are blessed to have you in our lives.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Patty

Merry Christmas, family Teklits! Merry Christmas FOD's!

Hearing your news sure "makes the spirit bright", Chizzie - but then again, so do you, honey...so happy to hear that you are getting out to the movies. Can't wait to get your reviews of Charlie Wilson's War - I read the book a couple of years ago and just loved it. Hope it made you laugh and that you also enjoyed The Kite Runner - I know how much you LOVED that book!

This comes to you from my brother's place in Ohio. We'll all be joining them for Christmas dinner later this afternoon. Mr. Hal is making lasagna to take over and we've ordered a ham. Karen's making scalloped potatoes, green beans, etc. We're really strapping on the holiday feedbag.

The kids will be here. (except for Josh) Krissy (and David too, no doubt - grr), Pauline and her family (I have a Pauline too, Visitor Alison) will all be coming by later in the afternoon.

Sunday night we went out to dinner with Bow and her husband and had a great time. You know how funny she can be. Got to see her kids and her mom. Always a good time! Bow sends you her best.

But then again, EVERYONE (Mimi, Carol, Krissy, Pauline, Karen, Jennifer, Bow and I even talked to Dianne!) has been asking about you back here and sending their best. They all love you so, honey!

Mr. Hal is hustling me out of here tomorrow morning bright and early so we'll probably be back in Colorado - weather permitting by Friday. First Night down at the shore "shore" sounds like fun. (Ha-ha.) I'm thinking we'll probably have Ronan and his family over New Year's Day. I'm not sure yet - they might be skiing!

Well, Christmas is the season of miracles, Chizzie. So here's praying for lots more of them, honey in the coming weeks, months and years. (And I'm talking miracles large and small, Dr. P!!!! ha-ha.)

It's Christmas and we can't have Christmas without Our "Daily Word", can we?

Christmas

The Christ in me greets the Christ in you.

Wherever we gather today with a few or many family members, friends, or congregants, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus, God’s gift to all humankind.

We are touched by the light of the season: candles that glimmer in windows, sparkling surfaces of the snow, the glow on the faces of children in Christmas pageants.

This is a day when many people forget personal differences and say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays”—even to complete strangers on their path. As greetings are shared, connections are made.

Whether preparing or eating meals from treasured recipes, serving food at a shelter for the homeless, or attending a Christmas service, we hold this sacred thought: The Christ in me greets the Christ in you.

“This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.”—Luke 2:12

Love you honey. Talk to you soon!

K
