Labor Day at the Beach with My Babies

Hey Everybody,

Jessie’s here typing for me because Joe quit and left to go to Mexico and sell donkeys. Nah, we’re all here at the beach house enjoying a lovely sunny day. Sorry I haven’t posted but I have not felt well since leaving the hospital. I still have the sinusitis and was running low grade fevers until they added a third antibiotic.

I saw Dr. Porter yesterday and unfortunately my white count, which had returned to normal last week, is back down to 2.5. He was concerned about re-starting the chemo but was also concerned to not start it, knowing that there is leukemia lurking. So I’m scheduled to start Round 4 of the trial on Tuesday, 9/4.

If I get sick this time that will be it for the trial. The alternative is, of course, six weeks in the hospital with re-induction chemotherapy. As you all know, that is not an option you want to consider. I will be monitored more closely this round so everyone will be watching my white count. So let’s all pray this sinusitis finally goes away and I make it through Round 4. They are reducing the dosage of the drugs this time. Hopefully it will be strong enough to keep the leukemia at bay and not so strong to not knock my white count back down to zero, leaving me vulnerable to infection.

Right now we’re enjoy a beautiful sunny day at the beach with Jess, Walid and the babies. They can sit for hours on the beach just playing in the sand. We’re planning on staying until Tuesday and then heading to HUP on our way home to begin the trial.

I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful weather we are having, sunny, 80 degrees, and NO humidity. I hope all the college freshmen are settling in with their roommates and are enjoying the college experience. From what I’ve heard everyone is doing well. I wish you all a Happy Holiday, health, and happiness, and lots of hugs and kisses. Thank you for the continued cards, blogs, and phone calls. Each and every correspondence means so much.

Love to you all!

Debbie

Hello T's and K's,

Missed wishing you a good weekend yesterday Deb, but it sounds like you're enjoying those babies. So glad it worked out and you're all together.

Saw Michael and Laurie a little while ago. He was on cloud 9 after the PSU win. They were on their way to Carlos for a pizza.

Thank you to you and Jessie for the LTN donations.....you guys didn't have to do that, but it's just like you to anyway...so thoughtful.

Enjoy the rest of your time together, and good luck on Tuesday. We don't have to go down next week, so I'd be happy to make the run w/ you on Wed. or Fri. I'm working Thursday. I'll be in touch next week.

Bob sends his love and says hello to everyone. He also says to Joe, why Mexico???? There's enough jackasses around here. And I'm just going to let that slide on the grounds that he's been ill.

We love you,
Bob and Mo

Hi, Deb...
I'm so happy that you made it to Ocean City!
Thinking of you all the time.
Babies are the sweetest distraction from all the nasty realities of our loves.... so good that you can enjoy them, especially at the place you love the most.
See you soon...
Love,
Liz from Dullsville. (neighbors?)

Hi Teklits Clan:

So glad you are at the beach. Jessie was worried about all the runny noses from her house that she wasn't sure about getting to the shore this weekend. Hope you have lots of fun!

Mere came home this weekend to watch Colin and Brendan play football. Colin's team lost but only by 2 which to this team was a victory. The opponents QB threw for over 500 yards. He is only a junior and very good. Bee's team won 22-6. They are off fishing until we head to the neighbors for our annual Labor Day BBQ.

Dave's brother(from Dallas) is coming into town this week for a medical consult and will get to see both boys play football.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Special hello to Christian and Emma. They are darling!

Lots of Love...COD Eileen

Hi, Debbie and all. So glad you are at the beach. Sure wish I could have made it this summer. Crazy this week as we await Jen's wedding this coming weekend. We are heading to S. Bend on Thursday. It looks like it will be beautiful - cooler than it has been, but no rain. Debbie, I am so emotional with this first wedding! Wish I could chat with you - you always make me feel better about everything. I hope I will have it down "pat" before Shelly's wedding in November. The ND game was as brutal in person as I'm sure it was on TV, Joe. But, I always remember that those kids are someone's children and people in the stands should not yell at them! I hope Charlie can get them together soon. Miss you all and so thankful you can spend time together. Love, Cheryl (Crone)

Hi Deb,

It was great to see you and your family this weekend. Boy, did we have great weather or what! I hated to see the weekend end. I know you are not feeling well but you would never know by looking at you. You know what they say, it's not how you feel, it's how you look and you look marvelous! Good luck with round four. If the weather stays how it is I will definitely be in OC on the 22nd. I'm hoping you feel well enough to get back down then.
Take care,
Betty

Hi Debbie: We were down Ocean City this weekend too and was sitting on the beach wondering if you were able to come down and enjoy the beautiful weather. Glad you were able to do that and enjoy those beautiful babies. Hopefully the fourth trial won't be so hard on you and you pull through with flying colors - let's keep that white count high. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Keep it up. Love you. Shelly

Hi Debbie,
I hope you are feeling better with
this fourth round. It was so wonderful to sit on the beach and talk to you. You look great! I love talking to you...you are so full of great knowledge! Mom and Dad were asking for you! Dad is feeling well and back down the shore this weekend! Poor thing does not like to be told he can not do anything! He had to ask Chuck to cut his grass down here and he hated it. He is always doing something down here and does not like to be still. Something he needs to do more often!!
Wyatt started back to school and likes his teacher. He said there are so many rules this year!
Please remember that I think about you often and always talk to God about you! Take care!

Love,
Donna, Chuck and Wyatt

deb, what is new with you? how are you feeling? is round 4 going in okay without any complications?
we took patrick down to cal poly this last weekend, love the campus, town, and the beaches there... it was so much fun on move in day.. i had a blast watching all the freshmen move so many boxes in... patrick's room in on the 3rd floor, no elevator, so it was kind of a haul, but worth it..
we said our goodbyes on sat, night, even though they had a barbque for parents on sunday,, i sort of felt that was dragging it on, plus, patrick had that " i want to have some space" look.. now saying goodbye was gut wrenching.. still find myself 2 days later getting teary.. but i know he's having a blast...
Mark stayed home cause he had a baseball game, and a dance, plus he will see patrick in a few weeks when we go down for the homecoming game...he did a great job watching the house, dogs , and getting places without mom.. he had someone stay with him also.. so it was all good..
well, i'll keep my prayers going for you... hope alls well.. love. .mdf
ps.. eileen,. how was your goodbyes with meredith? i bascially cried all the way to the college and back,, but i hid it well!

I did better than I thought I would. I do miss her terribly, but 1 hour is so close that it has made it easier to take. I too...felt the "it's time to go thing". Good luck to Patrick.

Hey Deb...my local angel has now been on your blog. She is a sweet parishoner who was diagnosed in the fall/winter w/ AML and her first round put her in remission. She is the most faithful/faithfilled person I know. She will keep you in her prayers and asked that I pray more earnestly for you.

How is this round going? Tell Joe that we need an update. Miss hearing your voices.

Taking Aunt Angie shopping today. She needs new pants which will be a difficult task as everything is so low waisted.

Much love and prayers for you and the family....Love COD Eileen
