August 15th Update

Dear Fods,

Debbie's stay at HUP will continue for a few more days. She has undergone X-rays, CAT scans, Scopes, blood tests, etc. to continue to rule out pneumonia, fungal sinusitis, etc. over the past days. So far, there is no pneumonia or fungal sinusitis -- but they are taking her down for another CAT scan tonight @ 8:30 PM to check on a swollen gland in her throat. Needless to say, Debbie is very tired of being checked, poked and prodded, but glad that all of the results have been negative so far.

HUP continues to run Major League antibiotics (just in case), saline and pain medications until they figure this problem out. She continues to run a low grade fever and feels sick on and off. Her counts are still way low and hopefully as they recover so will she. As is her custom, she will not even look at the HUP food which complicates longer term stays.

Thanks to Marian and Eileen for visiting today. Debbie enjoyed the company. Mike was able to stop in before work and Debbie had a full day. I will take a short day tomorrow and should arrive around 3:00 PM.

Thanks to all for keeping up the blog and your cards. We are taking them down to Debbie every day.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Hi Debbie,

I'm sorry to hear you will have a longer stay in the hospital. I myself am still sick with the same symptoms and it seems everyone knows someone that has the swollen glands, sore thoat and sinus. Hopefully the antibiotics will take care of this for you soon. Thanks for the update. I've been worried about you.

.. a few more days!! You can do it..whatever it takes to make you feel more human!
We just got back from this italian resturant in town.. we surprised patrick and invited about 15 friends to meet him there.. it was alot of fun, Most of them have come back here for some ice cream cake and are watching a movie.. its good timing also, since alot of them will be leaving in the next week to their colleges..so it gave them a quick chance to say some goodbyes..
Patrick bought himself a cigar, and lottery ticket..he said " i got 2 out of the 3 things i can now buy since im 18!" he said the 3rd item was too expensive..ha
Mark is taking dr. ed this week and is so bored with it.. but this is really his only time for it, we start back to school next thurs and he'll start up fall baseball the second week of school.
deb, i wish there was more that i could do to help you, know everyone else feels this way also,, just know that im "rooting for you" and praying for you to feel better soon..
Joe, thanks for updating us.. oh, by the way, did you see ND plays UCLA in about 2 weeks.. can't believe it's starting up again. we are planning on going when they come out to stanford again..
deb.. love and prayers are heading your way..mdf

Yikes Debbie, I go to the shore for a few days and you end up back in the hospital. BIG bummer. I am so sorry you are going through this but you are a super trooper and I know you will fight your way back very soon and you will once again be in your own beautiful home.
Just read the rest of the blogs and I think Kris had a little too much. Kidding.
I went through my mail when I got in and got a letter from the district. I am being a mentor to a new social studies teacher. I called her and she sounds 12! Tomorrow I am going in to start setting up my classroom so from now until the beginning I will probably put in a few more days to get things ready to go.
Keeping you in my prayers.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Hi, Deb...
Just wanted to let you know how much we think about you, and hope for better days and a discharge very soon.
No one can eat that HUP food! We'll have to get you back on your feet and load you up at the Mainland.

Hi Debbie:

Spent some time on AIM with Jessie the other day. We are going to try and meet for lunch later in August while I am in Baltimore.

What's this she said about the two of you sharing clothes! I think I have gained what you have lost.

Work on the appetite when you return to Tennis Way.

You are a trooper! Love to all...

COD Eileen

PS We met Mere's college roomate yesterday. She is a keeper. Less than a week and she will be on her own. YIKES!

Dearest Debbie,
I have just lit a candle for you.. this little light of mine... right beside my laptop on the kitchen counter as I watch Reba.

The candle lighting has some historical significance. It is the Irish Millenium candle.. given to each household in Ireland in December 1999 from our President Mary.. (oh yes we Irish are ahead of the US with our female President elected ironically both are named Mary).

Anyway my Mum sent hers to me to "keep"... but I believe in enjoying anything usuable.. hence my waterford glasses might have a chip.. but I did hold on to the Millenium candle for 7 years.. now it burns for you...

Lots and lots of love and best wishes...

Visitor Alison
