Happy 4th of July

Dear Fods,

We hope that all of you have had a good day with your friends and family on this Independence Day. Today, Debbie finished her 7th day of the shots for the second round of her clinical trial. The chemo shots have left Debbie battered and bruised on her arms and abdomen. In this round, Debbie could not even tolerate shots into her legs as they still remain bruised and hardened.

The nausea has been much more frequent and acute during this round and Debbie has taken to her bed on most days during this round of treatment. While she was able to host the events of the weekend, she has been very tired ever since. We were able to go to the shore after the last shots were finished today, however, Debbie is pretty sick at the moment. Hopefully, things will settle down now that the shots are done for another 21 days.

The good news in all of this is that the BMB came back very good! While not perfect, Debbie went from 40% to 0% leukemia in the marrow. Of course we have all gotten somewhat skeptical of this test, however, directionally, this is moving on the proper course. Dr. Porter is not commenting just yet and we will complete this next round and have another BMB on July 17th. We will see where we are after that test.

Thanks to all for keeping up with the blog, sending Debbie cards and letters, helping to take her to HUP, and having her over to your homes. It surely helps her to keep going through all of this.

Debbie sends her love to all.

You really are so amazing.. i just went back to last year and checked the blog site,, you were getting ready for the tx. and they had drawn 16 tubes of blood, and it leaked on your white linen blouse!
Here we are, a year later.. im so glad that the numbers and all are going in the right direction.. and i hope that the next 3 weeks will give your body some time to recuperate from all the action it's gotten lately.(and we aren't talking good action either!)
We are having a heat wave here, 105 as i write with no relief for about a week! The boys are going somewhere to see fireworks tonight. Patrick had fun camping, and mark's american legion team won the whole tournament last weekend!
Tim and Patrick will go down to san luis obispo in about 2 weeks to sign up for classes,, he starts sept 17th.. but they have a WOW week before.(week of welcome).. one of his friends left for west point on sunday, so they are slowly starting to leave the coop...
Not much else going on. what the hell can go on with 105 degrees! but i will continue to say the prayers and good wishes your way! enjoy the shore. and we'll keep checking up on you.. love.. mdf..ps. do you know how mazz is doing ? oh, if you see this mo, i sure hope he's doing well also..

Dear Deb and Family,

A belated Happy 4th. Sounds like you have been through the ringer. Glad to hear that you have been at least getting to the shore. I won't be down again until the 21st. The next time after that will probably be Labor Day.
We had a nice picnic at my house for the 4th. Julie Jourdan came, as well as Ellen, Dave, and my mom. Broke in the new grill. So nice to have space to cook on.
Take care.
love, hugs, and prayers,
jean

Hello Deb and Joe,

Just thinking about you guys. Bob is napping, so I am taking a break 'til he wakes up and I start dinner. Well, now we know what you mean about getting early to the clinic....we were there at 9:45 this am and didnt get taken 'til close to 11:30, and of course it took all of 15mins. to take his blood and get the shot. So we were home by 12:30. We are having a thunderstorm right now, and I wonder how it is at the shore. The sun was out in the city this morning. I hope youre feeling better today and get some sunshine for tomorrow. Be careful in the high temps on the beach. Talk to you when you get home. We love you guys, Mo and Bob

Hi Debbie and Joe,
So sorry I did not get to see you
at the beach. Mom said she saw you
and talked to you. I am so very sorry that you are not feeling well. You have had some very
tough weeks. You are one strong
lady!!!! I hope you got to take in some beach time. I am always thinking about you and praying that
God takes extra special care of you. Wyatt has basketball camp this week at La Salle Highschool.
Today was his first day and he loved it. He said it sure was hot
playing outside on the courts but
swimming was the highlight! Well maybe you will be still down the shore when we get down on Friday afternoon.I would love to get to see you to chat. I hope that you begin to feel better real soon.
Love,
Donna,Chuck and Wyatt

Hey Debbie,
Don't know what is wrong with this computer. I have been checking the blog daily and the the latest entry until today was June 15th. Don't know why my computer was keeping you from me.

Well, it's the 12th so I hope by now the yuckies are gone. As soon as you are up to it, let me know and I'll pick you up for a relaxing float in the pool.

I just finished painting the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom which wouldn't need to be done if I was more organized. ( I usually write on the can which room it was but didn't this time) See, I took down a set of shelves which left two big holes in the wall. I should have gone out to get a big picture to cover them! I patched them and then got the can of paint I THOUGHT was the color from the garage. It was oh so close, but not close enough so I had to paint all the walls. Since I'm not so good at "cutting in" I messed up the ceiling and had to do that.

Have to read around 50 pages for class tonight and better get to it as I have a lunch date with a friend who is having elective mastectomies. She had cancer in one breast, had it (the cancer) removed and it was found in the other. She went through that genetic testing and she is prone to it so she is having both removed in August. What is it with my friends who lead very healthy lives. Unfair!

Hope you are up and about soon feeling fine. Keeping prayers up and fingers crossed about the results of the BMB.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Hi Debbie:

It's Friday and I think I am all caught up from last weekends festivities. It was fun and stressful at the same time.

Cards arrived here from the Teklits and the Khouri's. You should be hearing back soon from the graduates. It sure made their day hearing from all of you and I can only imagine how much fun getting mail at your house must be.

Dave is away this weekend in Canada on one of those boonedoggles. I declined this time as I knew the last thing I wanted to do this week was travel.

As Mom mentioned, Mickey, Bev and Matt were here last weekend. Rick was home taking care of Laura who is recovering from her hip replacement surgery. (July 2) Last email from Rick all was going well.

I suggested to Mike that he teach the boys some fly fishing tecniques. Bee and Colin got a real education from fly development to casting styles. Now we are aquiring fly fishing gear.

Starting the countdown to college departure. I think 5 1/2 weeks to go. I can't believe it. Our last hurrah will be a trip to Puerto Vallarta on July 29th. Sad to say that we should be in Ocean City but we will hope that next year will bring a healthy you! :)

Keep doing what you are doing. I am so proud of you! You are one gutsy lady...cuz!

Miss you! COD Eileen
