July 14 Update

Dear Fods,

Debbie made it through the last round of treatments but has been very tired and sick this time through. On Wednesday Fod Eileen took Deb to HUP and her counts were way low. She had to have platelets and had to return on Friday for further blood tests.

On Friday, her counts were way, way, way low -- wbc 0.7, platelets 18K. They gave her platelets and we headed to the shore for the weekend with a prescription for an antibiotic. Jess, Walid and the kids came up on Friday and we have been having a nice visit. Deb and the kids are having a great time and they have all been napping for the past 2 hours.

We set up base camp around 10:30 this morning on the beach. Tents, umbrellas, chairs, shovels, toys, etc. were all in place. Everyone had a good time in the sun and the sand and the weather was beautiful here today. We were back at the house by 3:00 and it has been pretty quiet ever since. As the day went on, the temperature actually improved. It was hotter and more humid this morning when I ran than it is right now.

We have a bmb scheduled for next Tuesday and hopefully Deb's counts will continue to improve.

Thanks to everyone for continuing to keep in touch. Your cards and blogs always bring a smile to Debbie's face.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Boy, it sounds like ths shore and grandkids is better than any antibiotic around.. now. aren't your counts suppose to bottom out? does that mean this new med is doing it's job..so sorry it takes everything out of you, it sounds like your body is running on just air, so don't use too much of that with talking!
Tim is taking Patrick down to san luis obispo for some pre reg thing for college today, they are spending the night, and mark and i are going to a baseball game for him..the boys had a blast at the homerun derby and allstar game..
did i tell you i have been watching all the Sopranos shows (patrick owns them),, i love this show, the only problem is that now im starting to talk like them.. i found myself using the f word to a very nice sweet mom yesterday! ha.. better curb my language a bit...but i must admit, the show does make me miss the east coast at times..
deb.. good luck on tuesday, i will be sending prayers your way. joe, glad to hear you still find time to run with everything,. hope your day is nice..ttyl..love,,mdf

Hi Guys,
I missed you on the beach this weekend. I was there but I didn't see you. The weather was unbelievable on Saturday. We went home on Sunday morning though. We had so much yard work to do. It amazes me how fast weeds can grow with lots of sun and no water! I have a jammed pack day tomorrow with errands, more yard work and finishing up the last of my July work. My sister and a few friends are coming to spend a few days at the shore with me starting Weds, I'm hoping the weather holds out. Maybe I'll see you then. I hope you feel better.

Hi honey-

Glad to hear that you are hanging tough - and that your grandbabies are with you! That's good medicine for sure.

I'm with mdf in thinking that the meds are doing the work they need to be doing and will be dragging your counts down until the work is done. - Does that make any sense at all to you? (is chemo brain contagious?)

Kind of busy here this week. Lining up the movers, finishing up my last push through the closets, cupboards and drawers - getting rid of stuff that doesn't need to be making the trip. Continuing to try and decrease my critical mass...

Yesterday, Lady G and I went down to Philadelphia for lunch and a walk - ended up at the Museum of Art and took a quick twirl through the Impressionists. Of course, I was thinking of you the whole time.

Hoping that we will have some quality time together this week, honey.

Love you - K

Haven't been checking for awhile, but you were in my thoughts. Very busy with Matt's wedding on Saturday and all the events up to the wedding. Was upset to hear you were still not feeling any better and the treatments are taking a toll on your stamina. Hope you improve as the days go by. Headed down the shore for a few days with Ali to recoup from the wedding. Much love and good health. Love Shelly

Dear Debbie,
Thinking of you all the time... My son Sam is visiting Ireland at the moment (lucky duck!)... I'm working away and also enjoying downtime by our pool.

Know you are still a huge inspiration in my life and I think of you often. Can't wait to meet you.. let me know the time and place and as the song says "I'll be there".....

Right now I'm singing this little light of mine ... in my head... it always reminds me of you and the FODs...

Love Visitor Alison.

Debbie and Joe:

That shore house is worth every penny to you right now. What a great place to spend some down time.

Not sure what down time is like with grandkids but you get the picture.

As Joe mentioned setting up base camp, I envisioned him wiggling that darn umbrella into the ground. There is quite an art to that.

All is well here. Today a cool front is making it's way in after a blasting hot day yesterday. Have been over at Aunt Angie's a lot as my washer has been out. Sears came today and now I will be heading to purchase a new one.

By now you have had the BMB. Hope you got Dr. Porter and it wasn't too painful.

Look forward to hearing the latest good news.

Take care COD :) Eileen

Dear Debbie,

Hope your doing well. I been spending a lot of time here @ Aunt Reen's, we got my LC uniforms today, piece of cake. This past weekend Reen and I saw Hairspray! We give it 5 stars, Reen says you'll love it, and that maybe when you're feeling better we can go and see it with you! Who wouldn't wanna see John Trovolta dressed up as a woman. haha ;) July 15-17 I was attending a youth conference for church up in Mass. and my friends Emily, Matt, Mike, Danielle, Chris and I all prayed for you.
Hope you're doing well and to see you soon. Wishing you the best!
