Happy Easter!!

Dear Fods,

We are sorry for the delay in posting and thank you for trying to keep up with the blog even though we have not been holding up our end of the bargain.

Debbie has "held her own" over the past 6 weeks. She had a long bout of sinusitis (3-4 weeks)multiple visits to the ENT with no relief. Finally, they changed the antibiotics and the last round of meds seems to have done the trick and the sinusitis has seemed to have subsided. That is still not the case with the labrynthitis and she continues to have the "wobbles" and still cannot hear in her right ear. Debbie has started physical therapy to help her to learn how to cope with the damage to her right inner ear nerve. As I understand it, the left inner ear nerve can learn how to do double duty and make this problem a little more bearable.

The dacogen treatments appear to be working for Debbie. Before the latest round of dacogen (round 3) she actually had a platelet count of 160,000! She has not been that high since before the initial diagnosis. She has not needed platelets in about six weeks -- which is another record. Plus, they are administering the dacogen at home -- which has made this easier on everyone. Round 4 is scheduled to start this Tuesday and will run through Saturday. She will have 3 weeks off and then on for a week, etc. They are planning 9 rounds of dacogen and a BMB after the sixth round. This treatment appears to be working and but for the new ailments, Debbie appears to be in pretty good shape.

Allison, Izzie, Jess, Christian and Emma all came up for a visit last weekend and we had a great time. We had an Easter egg hunt in our yard and took the kids for pictures with the Easter bunny -- although only Izzie could sit still for the shot! Emma cried and Christian ran out the back door. If Izzie could have walked she would have probably left too, but she was the captive audience for the Easter bunny.

Debbie felt well enough to make the trip to Virginia and we are presently visiting with Walid, Jess and the kids for the holiday. We will be home tomorrow morning.

Thanks again for your never ending blogs, cards and prayers. They mean the most to us.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Hi Everyone,
We are so glad to hear from you. It's great that you all got to visit and were able to make the trip. We just got back from our Easter dinner. Bobby, Dodi, Tori, Aunt Lindy, Aunt Rosie and Rosemarie are all here. Now that the weather is getting better and the days a little longer, maybe we can get together for a visit. Take care and send everyone our love.

Deb and Joe
It's so good seeing a new post today. I wonder what's going on being so far away and out of the loop down here.
The Bloodmobile finally took my blood. Third time's the charm. First time my heart rate was too fast for them and the second time I had too large a cut on my arm (don't forget how clumsy I am.) Any way, everything went fine until the pulled out the line and then the inside of the bus turned blue. The next thing I knew they're putting cold towels on my face and throwing even colder water on it. Then they gave me some Coke and a barf bag. Coke... At the Pepsi plant. After awhile they let me go home but for all the years I've lived in Florida, I've never been so white. I got cookies, juice and a cool t-shirt. I get to do it again April 18th.
I'm glad things have been going easier for the both of you and as usual you both are in my prayers daily. Happy Easter, Christ has risen, God is good, love to everyone.

Hey Debbie and Joe:

I knew there was a birthday looming. I thought it was later this week. Happy Birthday! and Happy Easter....

Had Ricky and family here this weekend. It was a real boost for Mom. The anemia has her feeling rather fatigued and frail. Tomorrow she will get word on her latest BMB. Dave took her to the doctor last week and asked when they would do another and they said how about today! The Revlimid has been deemed not a success so she is waiting for her platetes to rise before she moves onto the Vidaza. (just had to question that) I am starting to confuse you with her...Oh by the way...send some platelets this way. She is looking forward to Spring with the hopes to getting out more. This winter has been tough on her.

Our family is doing well. Mere left to go back to school today. This week she has her first official track meet with St. Louis University. It is actually at Washington University in St. Louis but Dave and I are going to be with Colin visiting Murray State University in south central Kentucky on Saturday so we will miss this one.

Colin and Bee are weightlifting and doing the agility training at Velocity. Colin had Julie come over this weekend for my spaghetti with Ricky and the gang here. Poor girl. Lucky for her it was Rigatoni and I didn't make her prove her swirl technique in front of everyone.

Said extra prayers this Easter weekend for you and Mom. I guess Miss Emma had her second birthday this month. Can you believe that Debbie!

Glad you are doing well. Dave asked about his buddy Joe yesterday....So Joe...How are you doing?

Happy Everything! Love, COD Eileen

Hey Debbie,
Wonderful news about the platelets. I went for a pheresis donation yesterday and although they did get some, they mostly gave me a huge bruise on my arm. Seems the nurse didn't put the needle in right so the platelets were going to repair the damage she did instead of into the machine. They finally stopped it and I got out of there earlier than expected which was nice as it was still light out and I enjoyed my drive home.
Wonderful that you were able to get to VA and see the chickies. Hope the counts keep getting better and better and that you will be able to come out and play!:)
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Oh, Deb. So glad you could be with the kids. Shelly and Matt came for Easter. Jen was home the week before for a couple of days, as she is switching law firms in DC, and Katy is in the middle of a trimester and too busy. I did not get Easter cards out this year, but you are always in my thoughts and prayers, Deb! Love you, Cheryl Crone

Oh my gosh, Izzy is so cute. Matthew and her had the same ST Patricks Day outfit, but his was wayyyy too big for him to wear this year. Debbie, I'm glad to hear that you had a nice birthday! Can't wait to show you Matthew... don't worry I will wait till I'm over this stomach bug. I feel fine now but don't want to take a chance visiting anyone yet.

xoxo Meg

hey deb... how is this round of the dacogen going? are you still feeling okay, i sure hope so...been thinking alot about you.
well, our spring break is over,, what a whirlwind, with going to mark's tournament in south san francisco, and patrick coming in and out.. he went to chico one night, santa cruz another, and he was only hone a week!! it was a fun week though, we had kids spend the night, dropping in at all hours, made sure i had the refrigerator in the garage well stocked..
Today gp arrived.. (grandpa) he is here for his monthly visit, he comes out every april to see the boys and watch baseball, tim is going to take him to san luis obispo to see patrick.. that will bring the meal count down ot 79.. he is a very pleasant guy and we are lucky he is strong enough to be able to come out for visits.. still a month..
i had to have an ultrasoud of my leg.. thought i might of had a blood clot,, but no,, thankfully not.. just weird pain, and even weirder is since the ultrasound, the pain has subsided,,hmmmm
well, i do hope this round is making you even stronger.. will give you a call some day soon.. love and prayers your way.. mdf

Hi Debbie,

I'm happy to see no new posts. That must mean all is well. I don't have much to say. I'm busy with the sports photography. If I get totally rained out this weekend I'll be in trouble. I have 66 teams to photograph on Saturday alone. Oh well, I guess I'll come up with something if I get rained out. Otherwise, everything is great. I hope that goes the same for you.
Take care,
Betty

its been a while since we have all heard from and about you.. hoping that means good news..gp is still here ..had a fall last week walking.. poor guy,, hurt his hands badly( bruised and bloody) and has a black eye..i asked him how long he was in the hospital ( a mailman saw him fall, and called the paramedics) and he said "well, i had to wait for the results of the cat scan!" they did a cat scan!! then he said, " yes, after that i walked home and had lunch!" holy sht!! they let you walk home!! i couldn't believe they let an 80 plus year old walk home after falling and having a cat scan...but thankfully he's okay..
tim took him to san luis obispo the next day to see patrick,, the weather was beautiful.. in the upper 80's here.. cooler today.. they had a good time down there..
mark is still playing alot of baseball,, and i am still eating alot of sunflower seeds and ice cream...

Debbie,

Heard that you had a nice visit with Alli & Izzy! Glad to hear it. I hope you are feeling better. Matthew Thomas is alittle sick, and I just got my first experience of being completely peed on by him... ugghhh it was disgusting! I thought it would be alittle stream or something when I pictured it in my head- but oh no... it was a huge soaker! I had to change my pants and socks. My reflexes weren't so good, I just kept going, "Omgosh, omgosh, omgosh..." Oh life in the day of a new mother! See you soon!!!
