Thank You Alison !!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

I posted last evening thanking Alison for her wonderful suggestion of getting to know each other and how we all met. Its floating around cybersoace somewhere. Actually it got lost, i found it, then the computer went into hybernation(what the heck is that????) and just shut down and would not go back on. This am miracousuly(sp?)i turned it on and the blog was still there so i finished it and pushed publish and it vanished. I will try again!
So, Alison thank you for starting this wonderful trip down memory lane. I really was so touched and overjoyed and hysterical reading everyones stories.I have been blessed to have the best family and friends anyone could ask for. I'm embarressed by all their compliments because each and everyone of these friends have taught me to be a better friend, better cook, better mother and a better person. We have shared soooo much. Marriages, divorces, births, kids, kids going bad and getting better. (i would not have made thru my kids teen years if it wasn;t for my friends) death of our loved ones, illnesses and also sooooo much fun and laughter. It has been so much fun watching our kids grow and marry and start thier own families. I remember all of this when i'm sad or lonely down here and the love of all of you always gets me thru the nite(with just a little help fromsleeping pills). So please continue to share your lives with me. its always the highlight of my day.
I'm doing fine today. other then this backache i feel good. Another day in the good column.
KM, i hope shaun is feeling better today. that sounded scarey........
love Debbie

Good morning Debbie,

It is so lovely to hear you sound so upbeat. I tell you, I feel blessed to get to know you, and I can't wait to try your world famous cookies! Your circle of friends do sound incredible. I can imagine how they have enriched your life as much as you have enriched theirs. I went to bed thinking of the FODs and woke up in a sweat trying to remember which ones were the nurses, who had met you while you were wearing the denim jacket, lots of facts rolling around in my head! I'll have to re-read the blogs loads of times before I meet up with this gang! lol. I also tried to think of a clever question to ask everyone today that you could join in on... so here is my best shot for Question of the Day, you can answer it too Debbie...

What would other FODs be surprised to find out about you?

Well this one is easy for me as none of the FODs know anything about me. However, here is a blast from the past... I was accepted for "Up With People" many many moons ago. "Up With People" were an international singing and dancing group that toured the world spreading love! I was a wannabe hippy.. born too late to live in a Volkswagon so I thought this would do instead. However, I fell in love and opted not to travel.. don't regret the decision because I got my wonderful one and only son from the deal. However, every now and then I hold a hairbrush in my hand and go around the house singing
"Up, Up with People, you meet them wherever you go..
Up Up with People they're the best kindda folks you know,
If more people were for people, all people everywhere,
There'd be a lot less people to worry about,
and a lot more people who care"!

How stupid are those words!! lol... but I guess I've lived my life by them... now excuse me but I have a sudden urge to find my hairbrush! Happy Blogging..

Lots & lots of love, vistor Alison.

Well Hello FODs...This is a special post from the long lost son. After many attempts to try to get this damn thing to work, I figured I would try again. You guys shoulda seen my mom last night. She looks Hilarious riding the exercise bike in her room. She just sits there and peddles and smiles, reminds me of ET a little bit. But I had to post because I thought that game about how you met my mom was great. She really loved reading the posts and I think its helping her feel better in there. She has sounded great the past two days and she didn't get sick when I was there last night (go figure). Uncle Rick, you must teach shane the rip technique because it always help with the size issue. You can't swim over people that are taller, yet you can rip right past them on the inside. Speed can defeat size. Feel like my days of coaching are fast approaching, but for now I am going to stick to a Men's soccer team. Yea Im the backup keeper and will probably be singing the "Put me in coach line."
I have really appreciated everyone on this blog the past few months. I apologize for not ever posting because it was tough at the end of school being so far away and reading all this stuff. But I wanted to say Thank You to all for all you the love you have shown my family during these past few months. DON'T stop because we are almost there.

Debbie & Joe,
Sorry that we couldn't input yesterday as we had no Net connection for 36+ hours. Comcast came within hours of losing another customer to Verizon. We were delighted to read that you categorized today as being another good day. We think that you're deserving of nothing but good days considering the experience of the last hellish 9-10 months. I had an "enjoyable hour" with the dentist after a crown broke on Monday. Tomorrow I'll be joining a fellow '48 CCHS grad in Nazareth gathering some genealogical data from tombstones, while "poor" Mom & Lisa have to go shopping & an enjoyable lunch. We hope that you have a restful evening and another "great day" tomorrow. Love, Mom & Dad

Dear Deb and Alison:

Since I am a COD and haven't been in or around any of the FOD's it is hard for me to answer that.

Many of them know through this blog that I am married to (and Deb would agree) the nicest guy on the planet. An orthopedic surgeon that has no ego. We have 3 wonderful kids Meredith~17, Colin~15 and Brendan AKA Bee~13. We live in a small town outside of St. Louis about 1 hour from the arch...Washington, MO. If you check out a map we are on the Missouri River and claim lots of historical stuff of the Lewis and Clark expedition. We live on 30+ acres where 9 Texas Longhorns, 2 Horses, 2 cats, 1 dog and an aquarium with fish and a small snapping turtle we caught in our pool skimmer reside.

Lucky for us, Aunt Angie afer much arm twisting came to live in our little town. She is our only parent between Dave and I so we try and keep a close eye on her. As she knows sometimes we miss a day of checking on her as the kids schedules make us crazy.

And me...I have just come out of 17 years of stay at home totally motherhood to become everyones nightmare...the Catholic High Schools Annual Fund Director. Part-time only but right now it is a little overwhelming.

I think I have said too much.

Debbie...the hibernating...I have experienced it as well...what is all that about. I am thrilled you are still having good days. Could this be for real? You have almost got one week down. YIPPEE!

Mickey T...it was so good to hear from you. How is the first job out of college goin? Be careful with the sports after college...you can still get hurt...maybe not if you are truely on the sideline. You sure have been a real trooper for Deb as well all your sibs and Dad. I haven't heard of you having to apply any cremes where the sun doesn't shine so things are looking up.

Take care as always...miss you. COD Eileen

Hi Deb,
Since this is my first post, I will keep it short. I have not been writing as I am not as witty as the other FODs, and usually write a very boring letter, however, I read the blog daily (and I admit, sometimes check it twice). I didn't want Alison to think that you may only have the number of FODs that write to you often. I know that I am one of MANY that has been sending you strength and prayers ever since the beginning however are too timid, not computer literate or just not a nurse (do med techs qualify?) to write. Since I said I would keep it short, I better stop before I run out of room.
Deb- You are truly a beautiful person, someone who has the ability to continue to make others laugh, and really show us how to make any journey a positive experience. You are truly a blessing. Keep your spirits high! Now come on Ladies Club, show Alison there are more of us!
Love, Cindy G.
