Keep Me Laughin !!!!

All,

Good morning dear fod's. You are all so busy i feel like a slug. Rick, i can just see you loading up the new pantry. we moved our extra fridge to the garage. it's great when we make a trip to costco to unload the car right there. the kids must love having the extra food and snacks . I'm so glad you are finally finished painting. sounds like you redid your whole house. now REST or take a long bike ride.....Janet, you my dear should do stand uo comedy on the disney channel or some mommies only tv station. you are so funny. sorry about harrisons head. i can picture jonathan padding his "bad bad" sofa. i'm sure it won't make the trip to the new house. about the surgery i agree with mom you look just beautiful the way you are. but i imagine if you are uncomfortable all the time then it would be nice to have some relief.keep me posted.....cod eileen, rounding up calves first thing in the morning. i used to think it was bad just getting simmie out for one last pee before running out the door. good luck to the "addios" festivities for mayra and fabiola. i'm sure they would loveto spend the year with you.can i come next summer???...KM to catch up on our friend alison, visitor on Rhoades 6 you need to go back two weeks ago (you may have been at the beach).its a long ,inspiring, sad story.....
Not much new here. so far so good. just this nagging backache which i think is here to stay until i can get out of isolation again. I just sit in the chair or nap or use the bike. I really need to walk but theres no room. i did watch the yoga tape and beginners chant. its a littlle agressive in my preseant state but there are some good stretching exercises. Hope you all have a good day. looks like rain which i guess we need. i'll write again later. love deb

Hi folks, just copied this from yesterdays post to get this going today! lol

Good morning Debbie,

Hope this finds you feeling good with nice tingling all over from your new pac men friends. Hi Tootsie.. I realise the FODs and CODS (now what is a COD cousin of Debbie?!) don't know much about me, but guess what.. I know even less about all of you.. I don't want to hog Debbie's blog with my life story so I came up with a game we can play that might be amusing to Debbie. FOD Question of the Day. The first one to blog in a day can come up with the question!!! Although I'm not the first to blog today here is todays question

How Do you Know Debbie?

I sat in the exact same seat as Debbie within minutes of her making a post on this blog when she was a patient in Rhoades 6. We must have passed each other on the corridor but neither of us knew how our lives were going to cross. I sat at the computer and for reasons unknown to me hit the back button on the internet menu bar and came across this blog. I instantly was captivated by Debbies courage, humor, and spirit. I was mighty intrigged by the amusing group of FODs with some strange life stories being posted for Debbies review! I saved the site address and said a quick Hail Mary for Debbie.. I've been checking in ever since.

Now FODS it's over to you.. How Do You Know Debbie (and I can imagine the stories will be fun, fun, fun!)

Debbie, hope you have a wonderful day. Lots of Love, Visitor Alison.

So glad to hear you are still doing well. I am sure the isolation is getting you to & your back. But maybe Joey could teach you some mild stretches to relieve some of the aching? Just whatever you do, don't allow the teklits men to talk you into cracking your back!!!!! We know they are very persistant with that!!! EEEKS! Hope your day continues with little to no side effects!! Your in my prayers & hopefully while in Lansdale this weekend you will feel up to it and I can sneak in to see you with Joey. If you need anything let us know!!!

Love Always,
Alli

Hi, Aunt Debbie. I'm sorry to hear that your back is hurting. Trying yoga or something sounds like a good idea. You said you had an exercise bike there, so are you allowed to have a treadmill? That would be great if you could get one in there.

Alison, I like your idea about the daily question. As you can see, I'm a relative so there aren't any really funny stories. Jessie and I were friends as we grew up and used to hang out. I spent lots of time with Aunt Debbie and a bag of Hershey kisses, our favorite!

Well, I'm getting ready to go back to school. I worked on my classroom for a couple of hours on Friday and it looks pretty good. I just want to rearrange and reorganize some things. I just wrapped up three grad courses and am trying to complete a video course, which is absolutely terrible. I should send you the videos...they're the perfect cure for insomnia! Trust me, five minutes watching these videos and you'll sleep through the poking and prodding throughout the night.

Talk to you soon!

Lisa

Debbie:

Remember you "are" coming next June for Mere's High School graduation party. 6.30.07 I have decided to space it away from all the other parties around here and put it close to the 4th which lands smack dab in the middle of the following week. So we decided June 30th would have to do...more of a congrats and college send off all in one.

I wish I were a fly on the wall with the yoga chanting. Dave and I have a friend who swears by it. I can't seem to relax enough for the Yoga crowd.

The girls are out shopping (Wally world) the boys and I are home. Colin is in the pre-practice funk. Unlike you today we have no sign of rain or in his case no sign of cloud cover. Once again St. Louis got rain and we didn't even get a drop last night. Our fields are dust.

Keep moving around your room so your back gets a break.

You are incredible. Can you believe you are this far along already? Hang in there. Love you to pieces.

To visitor Alison...Debbie is my cousin. That's why I refer to myself as COD not to confuse anyone with FOD Eileen which there is as well. Eileen is an unusual name but as luck would have it there are two of us on the blog.

Debbie has 6 cousins on our side (Crispino) of which I am the baby. While our family started out in good ol' Easton, PA we moved to Lexington, KY from the time I was 3. My brothers were older though...(much older (hahaha), Mike AKA Mickey posts on the blog from time. And Ricky does very infrequently as he is not as computer savvy as the imfamous Aunt Angie (our soon to be 80 year old mother and Debbies aunt) My family has been spending a week in Ocean City every other year with Debbie and our cousins. Luckily this was an off year. Oh BTW...my kids think Debbie is "the bomb". She goes out of her way for them and plays pick up sticks and rummy and feeds them constantly (another italian trait we have). And the fact that she likes to shop hits my soft spot. The shore for us has been one of those family memories that my kids will always have. I don't doubt that one of them...likely Brendan will spend time there as an adult. He loves the beach.

Unfortnately as the youngest I missed out on some of the early memories that my sibs and parents have/had of being in Easton with all the aunts/uncles and extended family but knowing Debbie has made up for all the little things I missed being born last.

Alison I did check out the Dalkey Island photos...how peacful.

Thanks for adding your wisdom and care to the blog...as you can see there are a bunch of characters here.

Debbie~~the cattle round up was a piece of cake. I always worry that they will get out to the main road. That would be a problem.

Take care...miss ya

COD Eileen

I would think, and no offense, but hanging out at your lips would not be a very relaxing place for these new cells to hang out at..
Janet, you crack me up .. can't say the word breast..yet you want to have some extreme makeover done on them .. ha.. im with you .. if they say loose weight.. then im outof there..
Before i forget.. Happy Birthday to Mike!!Didn't realize he was six when Patrick was born! Hope they both have a great day!!
Alison.. amazing how a girl from ireland can figure out stuff on the computer before me, and i lived where it all started(palo alto), oh. and by the way..i met deb at rehab.. long story..will tell you while she and i are having our virgin cosmos.(JK). ttyl.. deb.. hope your day is still doing well..mdf

...Alison...i will take the plunge first.. i first met debbie while working in the ICU with her and Mo...(by the way, her name is really maureen..shes very irish also).Deb is one of the best nurses i ever saw(besides Mo) She was always late getting off from work cause she was either still cleaning up a pt. or wiping down the counters where we all sat! I swear.. between waiting for Debbie and Mo to finish their shift, it's a wonder we ever had time to go out for mozzarella stixs after work...She also really likes to "shake it, shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture.....".. great dancer and sometimes we would all go out dancing after work together..Loved when she would make her choc. chip cookies and bring them into work.. No matter how full you feel, debbie will whip up some kind of meal to feed you , so don't even bother saying your full,, if you have no where to sleep.. she will make a bed for you..she really is one of the most generous people on this earth..and to have a good sense of humor with it..well...as you can tell by all her blog friends..she is very well loved.! Don't know if you've met Joe her husband yet.. but make sure you don't have a full bladder when you talk with him, cause he is so witty that you might loose some control!
I moved away from the east coast back to my original west coast site, so i haven't been around deb or her friends as much..but as you can tell, it doesn't matter. they welcome you and are such a warm group of friends...(although don't get her friend Kim mad).
So, there is my real story, and im sticking to it.. know we'll hear some other great stories.. hey deb.. doesn't this sort of break up the boredom.. good idea Alison..mdf.

hey debbbbbbieeeee you are sounding chipper, i can hear you talking to yourself while playing the yoga video, you know you were! allison, that is a great idea...our story begins on the tball field. debbie was wearing a jean jacket that i thought looked really cute on her. at the time i thought that i was too old to wear a denim jacket but seeing her in one gave me permission. oh, at the time i think i was probably an ancient 32! anyway debbie was just moving into her new house. not long after that my oldest son and joey became good friends and boy am i glad that we have all kept our friendships and 'grown up' together. the girl is a treasure!

Dear Debbie,
Well what a blast! that question turned out better than I had hoped.. I hope you were blushing with all the nice things said about you.. and I get a fuller picture of you crazy lady.. no wonder the good lord made me hit the back button that day.. he knew what he was doing. So many questions answered.. I had put some of the pieces together before I'm kindda proud.. Allie I got the fact that you were dating one of the sons.. fine thing I might add!
Managed to figure out some of the nurse friends and did imagine you lot brightening up some ward somewhere. Cousins, Aunts, brother-in-laws - Rick my son asked me what the heck I was laughing at when I was reading your blog! yes this is a good game to play... we'll just have to keep coming up with creative questions to ask.. MDF, glad you managed to do the cutting & pasting before I got home! I was born in Dublin Ireland in 1965 and came to the USA in 1993.. actually just celebrated 13 years here on August 13! I won a green card in a lottery.. loooong story will reserve for cosmos! Debbie, glad to hear you make a bed in a hurry cause I'll end up on the floor in your house with all this drinking!

So glad to hear you are doing so well Debbie, I know those little pac men are fighting hard for you. How could they not want to be part of you!

Lots & lots of love, your visitor Alison.

Good to meet you Alison and good idea!!Deb has told us about you and I'm happy and inspired by your daily comments..Debbie lovely ,hope this finds you H/A and B/A free..I'm a little nervous about telling Alison how we know each other...suffice it to say ,23years in ICU loving and fighting with each other...but the love always wins out ..and somehow we always end up kissing(love those pac-man soft as butter lips) once those guys settle in at your lips they won't want to go elseware....I originally came from NYC, and naturally wasn't the perfect fit in this very special group(makeup,hair,clothes..they thought I was a hooker)somehow I managed to insinuate myself into the crowd and the rest is a history that we often get alot of genuine laughs over..look forward to meeting you on the cosmo cruise if not before...Debs dear have fun reading all the bio's ..also Jen had an ultra sound today, and a fertilized yokesac was visable firmly ensconsed on her upper uterus right where it belongs ..say prayers God is listening to you ..(Alison, Jen is one of my twin daughters..she is a true darling and has had 4 miscarriages this past two years...any prayers are gratefully and happily rec'vd) My other darling daughter ,Michelle, has a beautiful 8 month old the jellybeaner and cutie-pie Mackenzie she is my only grandbaby to date...and I can hardly wait for our new little addition( I just feel it will all work out for the best this time)Bless all you FOD's ..I love reading about you as much as about our Deb take care loveand prayers to all :)Bev

Alison - Great idea! Debbie and I met at a school luncheon. She met us... she liked us and invited a few of us over to her house for a brunch and we have been friends ever since. We have been to the Christmas show "The Nutcracker" twice together (I miss behaved both times)and we shared a few weekend trips to the shore together with our friends.
I love everything in Debbie's cozy house and try to steal something each time I'm there. I'm very fond of little salt & pepper shakers that look like little blue birds - but Debbie tells me that they are little turkeys for thanksgiving. We was I going with this sentence????? Anyway,
there are five of us girls that get together for dinner (we're like a hand) and when Debbie isn't there she is missed terribly.
She is just the nicest person to be friends with. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Bev - Congrat's to Jen.

Hi Visitor Alison! This is a great way to entertain Debbie and all FODs...I really can't remember exactly when I met Deb....a long time ago when our kids were in Corpus Christi School and somehow Donna(teabags) got us all signed up to work BINGO. They all laugh now that I am the only one left on our "team"!!!! Happily, we all still get together and compare notes about our growing families. It helps keep us sane! Debbie, hope today is a good one for you. Know that I am thinking and praying for you. Love, trudy

OMG!!!! Debbie, are you loving this?? Why didn't we think of this before? It's like a blogger "This is Your Life", and Alison is the host of the show. Thanks for coming up w/ this wonderful idea Alison. Deb, by the time everyone logs in(because Debbie has more friends than anyone on the planet) and you read all these blogs, you will be outta there. It was so good to hear your voice today. Wish you didn't have the backache, or any of the worries that go along w/ this sct. Heck, you know I really wish you weren't going thru this at all. Hopefully these blogs will give you an idea of just how special a person you are and how much you mean to us all.

Now, I too am a nurse and met Debbie in 1981 in ICU at North Penn Hospital(now taken over by a new corp. and known as CMMC). So I was a young bachelorette and Deb was a young wife and Mother...Mikey wasn't even born yet. Happy b-day to you, Mike....I had moved to this area from Scranton b/c my sis-in-law was an x-ray tech at NPH and told me about the position. So, aside from my brother and s-i-l, I knew NOBODY. Debbie and I hit it off from the first, and she made me a part of her family. I spent almost all my days off w/ her and Jessie and Joey, and ate supper there on my days off too(should I tell the Joe and Joey story, Deb? Nah, I'll let you divulge that). We took the kids for ice cream, to the park and on picnics and did overnights and day trips to the shore. Remember sneaking into the showers at the Stingray, Deb? I worked the 3-11 shift and Deb did too every Monday, but she worked day shift every other weekend so she wouldn't be away from the kids and Joe at night, but OCCASIONALLY we would go out dancing after work. Boy, did we have fun. I still have this image in my head of Deb "being cosmo", holding a G&T in one hand and a cigarette in the other( Kitty are you out there to verify this story?)This cosmo was taken from the magazine however, way before the drink that has become Debs' signature libation. It was always so GeeDee funny b/c Deb never smoked and had no idea what to do with the cigarette. She'd take a drag, cough, and wave the smoke out of her face. If there was any occasion to be celebrated, Deb hosted. She had every baby and wedding shower, birthday party, good-bye party(MDF), Christmas party, it's February and we've all got the blues party, ever given for anyone in the unit. You name an occasion(except Halloween...Deb doesn't DO Halloween) and Deb has been the hostess w/ the mostest. Well, I could go on and on forever...I will save some for the Ireland trip, and regale you over a pint of Murphy's. Deb is just the best, hands down, no holds barred, friend I've ever had. I thank God for the blessing of having you in my life Debbie, dear. I love you and miss you, Mo

Debbie.. this is your life.. and ....I am delighted to be the host! lol! for now until these FODS take it over as they should lol!

Mo, I loved it "this is your life" as I wathced the Irish version with my Dad as I as I grew up.. It was fun seeing "unfamous" friends blush as they talk about Gary Glitter and the likes..(lol now who remembers him...come on we all sing one of his songs at the ball park!)...I think that Mo has developed the question of the day into the amazing.. This Is Your Life Debbie - you are a Teklits (did I spell that right!) darn it!!
Debbie all jokes aside you know we are all praying, avoiding ladders, trying to loose weight, avoiding chocolate, thinking of you all the time, and wishing we could share your load.. ... signing off.. as your host, Debbie, this is your life... chapter 1... remember Debbie, so many chapters are ahead of you.. lots of love.. on behalf of all your Fods... Al.

Hello, Deb! I just spent the last hour reading your passages again and again. Have been thinking of you each and every minute. I have no funny stories to relate at this moment-- there's only one story now, and it's your recovery.
It's amazing to read your blogs; you're selfless, appreciating, wondering and caring about everyone else's life. You're my inspiration!
Cosmos and Hoagies is my favorite lunch combo now-- I have a clear picture in my head *( and camera!) of the FOURTH... even though at the time we might have been a bit foggy. (do you think???)
Each day I am greeted by the flip-flops... reminding me of summer present, summers past, and (you!!) in summers future. Keep the faith, kiddo... The cruise is not far away. Thinking of you always.
love, prayers and good wishes.

Hi Deb,
You sound much more like your old self today, thankfully! Thrilled that the compazine did the trick and that the CT was clear.
Do you have a yoga mat in your room? I'm trying to get a visual of you doing yoga.... still trying....................jk.

Alison, you really are clever!
I met Debbie 22 years ago in the ICU as a very "wet behind the ears" new grad (actually had been nursing for a year)...but still.
I was still single and she already had a family. The stories she would tell about her kids and Joe always had us in stitches (sorry Joe, I can't tell you them or you'll have to kill me).
Everything everyone says about her is 100% true. We would go to Mariano's after work to drown the evening stresses away. Deb would always be the last to arrive, having had to finish something (or someone else's work)...we'd already be done our "special salads" and half a pitcher of beer!!
The blog has been a blessing to reconnect with the FOD's and Deb herself, who hold a special place in my heart.
Except MDF, of course....jk
Listen Mare, I'll admit that my language was at times quite colorful. However, I think there were a few of our comrades who could put a sailor to shame too. I think I just used more words!

Good night all, it's way past my bedtime. Love you Deb. Sleep like a baby.
XOXO, Kim

Yikes was that fun to read! now when i read allison's blogs, i have to attach an irish accent. i conjure up louise fanslau for the occasion. deb i gotta tell you what happened to shaun e. hotdogs today. i got a call from the trainer at npenn and she asked me to come to the school to pick shaun up - he apparently was dehydrated and having leg cramps. well i thought yeah yeah yeah, charley horses and he will walk them off and be fine. well when i got to the training room, i was totally unprepared for what i saw...shaun's entire body was cramped up. his neck on down with the most pain in his quads. the trainer is the size of bonnie and she was trying to elevate his legs to give him some relief. i thought he was having a grand mal seizure. once the cramp abated a bit, we got him into the car and took him to central montgomery and got him some iv fluids and now he is sleeping. while we were spending quality time my thoughts as always drift to you, i was telling shaun that joey dwyer came into the store today and was calling him a name that joey teklits gave him back in the old days....shaun was laughing, he said that joey gave him all of his nicknames but he was glad that one in particular never stuck...'jerry jellyfish' he could barely get the name out he was laughing so hard. i felt like joey was in the room with us. talk to you in the morning, hope you are getting to saw some really good wood tonight xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Good Morning Deb,

Hope you had a good night.
Wow, is this fun reading, or what?
Missed half those blogs last nite while I was writing in.
Mo-forgot half that stuff and lol reading it. Like MDF's "harem" pants that I completely forgot about, but now vividly remember.
Bob must have a "how I met Deb" comment- I'm sure it will be short and sweet!
Bev-when you described yourself, again I laughed, because I think you kinda scared the crap outta me
then!
Just as fun reading the stories from the FOD's I haven't met yet.

Headed to LBI for a long weekend tomorrow, and hope I can log on so I don't miss the question of the day.
Billy informed me that he was going to stay home because we've already been away enough and he just wants to "chill". Sure!
As we argue about this, he tells me that everything bad that he has to deal with is all my fault.
While the voice in my head was saying "walk away", I turn around and march my little self back in to his room. I yell, "Oh yeah? Well, some one who wants to be sitting behind the wheel of MY van in a week, should be kissing my a**, instead of telling me how I ruin his life!" Now, I walk away having had the last word. I walk downstairs (did I mention Joyce was here?). She says, "that went well." Thanks Mom.

Have a great day and I'll check in later.
XOXO, Love, Kim

ps I'm totally craving one of your choc. chip cookies...would've gone down nicely with my coffee.
