Thanking you all !!!

Dear Loyal Fods and prayer sayers,

Thank You for all the prayers these last few days. Whew ! I needed them and felt them as you were sending them. Sat. started out great with a visit from Jess and Joey. I even put 30 min. on the exercise bike. Me who hates exercise. i thought it would help my back since i'm confined to my room and mostly sitting. Then joe came and we were having a nice visit and the ha started. If they would just allow Tylenol or Advil i think it would not have gotton so bad. We tried ice which helped initially and darkened the room. Joe left amd Michael came (poor mike is always the one with me when i get really sick). We tried to watch a movie to distract me from the ha but by 4pm i felt like my head was splitting in two and was very sick to my stomach every time i moved. I'm still begging for Tylenol (Bev, i could have used your frozen stash about now HAHA)They gave me IV Dilauded and Ativan for the nausea. For those non nurses that should have been enough to pt me out till sun. Am. Very strong stuff. But the Ha was so bad the meds just mademe throw up continuously. Now the Docs were getting scared because i guess i turned green and broke out in a sweat and my Bp shot up. I'm still asking for tylenol. They ordered A CAT scan instead. (STAT). that was at 9pm. the statct scan was am Sun.am. Being Sat. nite and all the traumas and gunshots i was low priority. Anyway bythe time i got back i was throwing up again abd Dr. Hexner (the attending for the last 2 wks.) saw me and gave me iv Compazine (an old fashionedmed for nausea). Well thats when all the prayers were answered and the ha startedgetting better. Its still there today, but 100% better then it was. I slept the day away even tho i kept telling myself to get out of bed but i just couldn't. Joe and joey came and that always brightens my day. Michael went to the Phillies game with his best bud Derekto celebrate his23 bd. they had a great time.I wish i could be home to make his fav. dinner but next year.

So today is a new day and i'm feeling ok. At least i'm outta bed and moving around. thanks million for all your wellwishes. i love, love hearing from all of you. joeread me your blogs yesterday and it made me smile evenin my hangover phase. hope you all have a good start to the workweek. love you all lots.............Debbie

Dear Debbie,
Well this is a good start to the work week. Thank goodness the pain has subsided. You have an exercise bike in the room? Amazing, I can't get my butt to Curves and you're on an exercise bike! I have a "wild words for wild women" calender and on your new birthday August 11... there was a quote "Sex is a bad thing because it rumples the clothes".... guess who the quote was from.... Jackie O! I kid you not.. I laughed out loud when I read it.. picturing the FODS in their Jackie O dresses saying "not now dear, it will rumple my clothes".
Keeping up the prayers and lots of love being sent your way. Love your visitor Alison

Morning Chizzie Cat-

Phew - so glad you are feeling better my friend. You sounded kind of puny when we spoke yesterday. Man, talk about a lost weekend. You sure had one! So glad that the Compazine finally took care of that nasty old migraine/nausea and I hope today is a day of rest and recovery.

I'm just checking in before hitting the road (again) and heading back your way - although I'll be taking a different route. FOD FYI- the PA Tpk is having intermittent closures at exit 9 for bridge beam replacement.
I'll check in later, honey.

Off to check the daily word.
Don't rumple your clothes!

Love you - K

Debbie -
Just got back to the Blog site and caught up on everything. I was down the shore this weekend. The weather was the best all summer... clear skies and warm water. Sure hope you are feeling better today. It's a beautiful day out there. Beautiful skys and the air smells like fresh cut baby grass.
Can't believe that Mike is 23 years old. He was just 7 years old the other day! So glad to hear that you had the family around you this past weekend.
Is there anything that you need? A cheerful quilt and pretty sheets to make your room cozy????

Thinking about you.

hi aunt debbie, it's laura. i'm so glad to hear that the transplant went alright (i know i'm a few days behind, i don't get much time on the computer) and i hope that you'll feel a lot better today. did we tell you that we went up to penn state for a few days to check out the art department? i met with the head of the art education and visual art departments and got a nice tour of the area. i really, really like it there (of course) and i'm hoping to get accepted later this year!

i'm writing a lot about me since we don't get to talk, can you do emails? my email is lauraroset@gmail.com if you can, i'd love to hear from you but i understand if you have too much going on to write. don't worry about it!

love you

Ok! Phewww!!!
Deb, I was all tensed up. Your posting this morning made me take my first cleansing breath since the procedure. These blogs are reading like a good thriller Cathy has her nose in all the time. So glad to hear your resting more comfortabaly. Less pain is a good thing! :) May God continue to grant you his healing grace. Our prayers are doubled and our thoughts are always with you and Joe and the Kids. Your medical team seems to be pulling together and every now and then one of them steps up and makes the play when its needed. We continue to pray for them as well. Cathy is taking me to the hospital today. I need a little repair work from my surgery. Lord willing everything will go OK. We'll keep checking your updates. Have a great day!!! :) We love you! :)

Hi, Aunt Debbie. I'm glad the headache is finally going away. I agree with Terry's book idea. I think it would be a great hit and "good medicine" for you! I hope your Monday ends up being relaxing and uneventful. Hang in there!

You are amazing. Keep up the faith girl - I just don't know if I could go through all this and have the good frame of mind that you have. You are 99% of the way there with that attitude. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Shelly

hey Deb-here's a chuckle!!Which one is your favorite?

Interesting doctor stories for you....

1. A man comes into the ER and yells, "My wife's going to have her baby in the cab!" I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress, and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there
were several cabs -and I was in the wrong one.

2. At the beginning of my shift I placed a stethoscope on an elderly
and slightly deaf female patient's anterior chest wall. "Big breaths," I instructed. "Yes, they used to be," replied the patient.

3. One day I had to be the bearer of bad news when I told a wife that
her husband had died of a massive myocardial infarct. Not more than five minutes later, I hear d her reporting to the rest of the family that he had died of a "massive internal fart."

4. During a patient's two week follow-up appointment with his
cardiologist, he informed me, his doctor, that he was having trouble
with one of his medications. "Which one asked. "The patch. The nurse
told me to put on a new one every six hours and now I'm running out of places to put it!" I had him quickly undress and discovered what I hoped I wouldn't see. Yes, the man had over fifty patches on his body! Now, the instructions include removal of the old patch before applying a new one.

5. While acquainting myself with a new elderly patient, I asked, "How
long have you been bedridden?" After a look of complete confusion she answered..."Why, not for about twenty years - when my husband was
alive."

6. I was caring for a woman and asked, "So how's your breakfast this morning?" "It's very good, except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste" the patient replied. I then asked to see the jelly and the woman produced a foil packet labeled "KY Jelly."

7. A nurse was on duty in the Emergency Room, when a young woman with purple hair styled into a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting a variety of tattoos, and wearing strange clothing, entered. It was quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she was scheduled for immediate surgery. When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green, and
above it there was a tattoo that read, "Keep off the grass." Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's dressing, which said, "Sorry, had to mow the lawn."

AND FINALLY!!!................

8. As a new, young MD doing his residency in OB, I was quite embarrassed when performing female pelvic exams. To cover my embarrassment I had unconsciously formed a habit of whistling softly. The middle-aged lady
upon whom I was performing this exam suddenly burst out laughing and further embarrassing me. I looked up from my work and sheepishly said, "I'm sorry. Was I tickling you?" She replied, "No doctor, but the song you were whistling was, "I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Wiener".

Debbie:

These FOD's are so clever. It's a good thing I am a COD...not sure where I would get all the wit.

Glad to hear the HA is getting tolerable. Quiet here as a friend took MA and Fabiola to the zoo and the arch. So I will catch up on more laundry.

Keep blogging frequently as it makes me feel better too!

Love to all....COD Eileen

Debbie & Joe,
Sorry to read that a good day turned into a bad day. It must be difficult when you are feeling so bad & nothing seems to help. Lets hope that Dr Hexner shows up more often with "old fashioned medicines", & hope that this day turned out for the better, & that tomorrow is a pain free, relaxing, day for a change. We continue praying for you, Love Mom & Dad
