The Case of the Disappearing Donor

Dear Fod's,

Another monkey wrench to add to our ever growing collection! Deb received a call from Oz today and was informed that the donor had "bolted" and would not be participating in the procedure. Obviously, this was very disappointing for Debbie who has been building herself up for the next challenge. Getting ready for a 6-8 week hospital stay would make anyone's knees turn to jelly. Stepping down from this preparation is not easy. From my side, I prefer to see these things as "signs" which I cannot explain. We had multiple "failures to launch" at Jefferson and are now very glad to have missed that procedure. While we are both concerned that Deb may fall out of remission, I still have confidence in the curative effects of her five rounds of chemotherapy and a positive outcome in the end.

Oz said that there is a new very favorable potential donor in the bank, however, we still need to work through the preliminaries, answer more questions, and of course, get this donor over the finish line. We will attend the transplant class on Thursday, as scheduled, and then take a long weekend at the shore. When we know anything further, we will let you know.

Thanks to all for your continued support and prayers.

Deb sends her love to all.

How fustrating is this!! You would think this would not be allowed! --- But I also agree with Mr. Teklits that maybe this is a sign and another miracle is on its way- Who Knows these days! I am thinking of you and praying for you like always!

Ah Deb! You were saying how you couldn't imagine the sacrifice it would be for a total stranger to go through all of the preparation for the transplant. Guess it dawned on her what a huge committment it really is.

I fell sure the a new donor will step up to the plate or as Joe made mention...maybe another conversion is possible.

I can't imagine how disappointed? you must be after getting psyched up for the procedure and now you have to step back for a bit.

Thankfully there is the shore house to retreat too!

Much love from Mizzurah!

Hi, Aunt Debbie!

I agree with Uncle Joe and everyone else on the Blog...everything happens for a reason. You've already been through so much, so maybe this is a little blessing. You can go to the the shore instead of being stuck in the hospital. No poking and prodding, just relaxation. That's definitely a positive! Enjoy the shore and please keep us updated!

Deb and Joe,

Well I just read the blog which I should have done before I called you and left you a voicemail! I cannot believe this!!!! BUT like everyone else I have faith and hope that good things are waiting for you just over the horizon!

Well I got my dress for the wedding, we did go to Harleysville Bridal and I did pick out a two piece long dress. Of course it is a new design and they have to call the manufacturer to see if they can "rush" a dress for me. Why it takes 3 months for a dress to be made is beyone me! Anyway we decided to go over to New Hope (Harleysville to New Hope is a long ride!) to Applause (an after five dress shop). We always had great luck with Karen's prom dresses there. But there was nothing there for me, everything was too frumpy. the sales lady told us about a shop in Peddler's Village, we went there and the owner showed me a dress that is so amazing! It's not long, just below the knee which is what I really wanted and so totally different than what I would ever pick out for myself. All I'll say is that it has a vintage look to it, almost like a roaring 20s style. I also found a beautiful blouse for the rehearsal dinner (again something I probably never would have picked out for myself) and a hot pink crinkly skirt for the bridal shower. Margo, Nicole and Karen kept picking stuff out for me to try on and it looked good! We have new best friends at this shop and I can't wait to go back end of July when the owner comes back from NYC with her latest buys! While we were there a women and her husband came in, she was a Mother of the Groom looking for a dress and the girls talked her into the very same dress I'm getting only in black. She did look great in it. It was a riot! the husband didn't say a word, just sat in the big comfy chair and my girls just took over!

You and Joe have a terrific time at the shore this weekend! Love to you both!

Good morning Chiz-

Hopped on the blog late last night and saw the update on the disappearing donor. Honey, it was like taking a punch to the stomach. I had to take to my bed without leaving a comment - I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

You can imagine my delight at finding this in my email this morning. (Once again Chiz, the daily word seems tailor made just for you):

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate, to be with you forever."--John 14:16

Good luck at your class and have a wonderful weekend at the shore.

See you next week! Maybe we can have some pond cake. Yum.

Love you.
