Long Day!

Hello Everyone,
Well Joe arrived safely in Switzerland after missing his flight from Paris to Zurich. He was picked up at the airport by his friend Felix accompanied by his young daughters. Felix took Joe to his home and they both went on a run around a beautiful lake.(on just a little sleep on the plane). They then all went to dinner and the circus(yes the one with elephants and trapeze artists). Can't you just all picture my Joe sitting attentively in a tent with hundreds of screaming kids after being awake for 36 hrs.? I laugh out loud every time I picture it.
Anyway, I'm on my own here and can't quite believe I figured out how to publish or post own my own. So forgive all the mistakes and typos.
So went to Penn today at 7:15Am, had a nice cup of tea and a blueberry muffin waiting for the phoresis lab(where they harvest my stem cells) to open. Got there at 7:45 and they drew my labs by 8:15. Waited for 3 hrs. to get just the Cbc results to dertermine if i needed blood products. I usually wait 20 min. at the Oncology clinic so you can imagine my impatience, especially because I knew that i needed blood and platelets because I felt quite poorly. So at 11:15 the nurse says "wow your counts are all low and you need 2 units of blood and platelets. It will take about ann hour to get here so why not get some lunch" Again i am reminded of my man Joe and was glad he was a continent away. I had difficulty finding the famous cafeteria and after about a 15 min walk (a big deal with a low hgb>)I was so glad for the delicious blueberry muffin earlier. Midway thru the 2nd unit of blood they got the results of my CDC34 test which determined i don't have any stem cells rite now. I still don't a white count so I guess that makes sense. So i am to continue my double doses of neupogen( a med to stimulate white blood cells) and go back next Monday and try again. Stem cells stem cells srem cells!!! I of course am chanting, but you at home can't here me. Anyway arrived home at around 5:00 and needed a little reas. Thats when Joe called and said he was joining the circus. (a Swiss circus!!!!!) A safe haven from all of us. Just kidding, sort of!
So thank you for all the prayers today and please continue them ,I am sure thats why I am still here.
To my darling Aunt Angie, I can just picture you in the pool surrounded by the kids sipping a margharita. I reeaaalllly wish i was there to enjoy you and all my fav Chalk's. I know Dave would make me a great cosmo.
Mary Day i am so glad you still eat hot fudge sundaes. They are going straight to my thighs. I am thinking of joining WW again so i can get back to more sensible eating. I love hearing about the "boys" and would also love to be in the bleachers watching your guys or my nephew Bobby who is also a great ball player.
Thanks to Mo for the visit and black cherry soda and to Km for the visits and laughs. Its very difficult to be house bound for 2 weeks and my only outings are trips to Penn. Not complaining honestly. Just miss all my buds!!!
Anyway, i will try again to sleep.Thank you all for love and support and cards and blogs.

Love Debbie

Dear Fod's

Seems funny to be posting from this end, however, Debbie did a great job with her blog yesterday and I am proud of her. The fact that they postponed the harvest is not surprising to me. We knew Deb's counts were down and she seems to take about 7-10 days longer to get to where Oz thinks she should be anyway. Hopefully, she will be in better shape next week. The one thing that we learned from the past is that when Debbie's counts come back, they come back like a rocket launch -- so I am not worried about them for now.

Things are fine in Zurich. Had a nice long day yesterday and am finishing my emails from yesterday in US time. We have witnesses today and a trial tomorrow.

Thanks for all your support and help.

Love,

Joe

Hey Deb,
It's amazing how well you know your own body! I saw Joey yesterday at 7-11 - I was getting my caffeine fix for the morning. He has such a great smile and he's so conversational. I guess you'll be around the rest of the week - is that right? I'd love to stop over. I'll call. If there is anything you need or want - let me know. I will not supply hot fudge sundae fixin's though - I am desperately trying to lose weight.
Love you and miss you
Susan

Hi Debbie:
Just wanted you to know that I do think about you. I feel bad I haven't stopped by to visit, but I know you get a lot of visitors and just knowing that I am checking the blog and thinking of you I think is a good thing. Keep up the good work and I'll keep the prayers coming. Always in my prayers and thoughts. Shelly Geib

Hi, Aunt Debbie! I'm sorry to hear you had to wait so long at U Penn. I have the Teklits' patience and would have been having a cow! I hope you are feeling better and that your stem cells rocket back like Uncle Joe said. I'm happy that there's been no mention of a rash or reaction this time. Uncle Joe, I hope all goes well while you're away. Another Teklits trait is working too much, which I'm sure you're doing...you and Uncle Rick. I'm counting down my days until summer vacation. 8 more days with the kids, 2 inservice days, and I'm on vacation! Yeah! Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Hey mom, just wanted to send you the link to a few pictures - they are too big to email to you. On the cover is Christian, who is cross dressing already. We taught him the day before to 'fake' sleeping so when I said cheese to take the picture he held his eyes shut and looked away. I got a good close up of him and dad 'fake' sleeping with Emma later on. Emma's got ballet slippers on and is laughing up a storm while daddy took some shots...And there are a few strays from when you were here to visit reading to the kids. Wanted to share them with you right now before I forget again. Hope you had a nice night. Love you lots.

Hope you are in full stem cell growing mode, Chizzie. Been thinking, thinking, thinking about your stem cells since our chat, honey. I know you need some high quality ones for your test on Monday so I'm having a running dialogue with the "Big Guy" (as Patty would say) to take the lead and conjure up some for you.

Also found this prayer and I thought the scripture was especially appropriate for you Chiz, given the way your counts rebound after your chemo crash. May your 'healing spring up quickly.'

Love you - K

Here you go:

God, I am so thankful for this day, this hour, this minute and this life. I know you created us for life and that you sustain us with life.

Whether I am affirming a healing of a physical nature or of an emotional nature, I acknowledge that God is the source of my healing.

God created me to be healthy and whole–in mind, body, and spirit. I declare this truth when I affirm that the healing presence of God is within each tissue, bone, and organ of my body and hold an image of myself filled with life and vitality.

Affirmations of life encourage the very cells of my body to respond with healing. I am stronger and more alert to all the possibilities before me.

Yes, God has created me and is the life that sustains me. Through my thoughts and words of life and renewal, I am participating in my own healing.

Amen.

“Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly.”—Isaiah 58:8

Debbie & joe,
Congrats to Debbie on a good informative blog. We appreciated seeing Joe's comment on a hopeful "rocket launch" of your counts as we weren't too sure how to translate the UofP not being able to harest stem cells. Having flown to Europe, I have a hard time understanding how both Joe & Larry can get off a plane & go straight to work, or worse, go to a circus!! It was "zonk time" for me once we landed, in spite of having 1st class upgrades. We hope that you have a restful time at home, & that Joe's flights are all on time.
Love, Mom & Dad

Debbie:

I don't know what happened to me. I didn't think I was so busy that I hadn't checked the blog since Tuesday. I am really slacking.

It has been a busy week as Mere is preparing for her ACT on Saturday am then Aunt Angie and I will take her about 1 1/2 hours away to a small college (William Woods) for the state student council camp. Mere is a junior counseler. This will go until Friday. Then she'll be home the 17th and leave on the 22nd for NYC and then Lansdale for the National STUCO Convention at N. Penn High. So you need to work on getting your counts up so you won't tire when she stops in to see you.

Colin....on his 4th try got his drivers permit today. Here in Missouri you can get it at 15 and then sit for your actual drivers test when you turn 16. But they have those restrictions, like no night driving after 1...yadayadayada. He is so relieved as am I. It is so funny to watch all the kids who don't pass come out of the exam. I had him drive a bit today...I don't know if I will be able to sit through another child. Poor Bee.

Speaking of Bee...he finally had his first hit the other night. Got that monkey off his back. He leaves for Kamp Kanakuk (a Christian sports camp) this coming Tuesday. It will be quiet around here. Colin has a football camp while they are away. Maybe I'll get my closet cleaned after all.

Dave and I are just fine and just got home from dinner out with a couple that attended ND and St. Mary's. We hadn't been together for awhile. Somehow we got on the subject of you...I think it was the cosmo we had...It was nice just to have a dinner out without it being a fundraiser or some planned event.

Please get lots of rest while Joe is away! Let that nupegen (sp) get the cells replicating so you can get on with the next stage of treatment and get all this behind you.

Better go and make sure Mere is ready for the test and trip tomorrow...

Take care...and all our love COD Eileen

I think you are referring to FOD Eileen...I am not a school teacher. I am coming out of retirement or should I say returning to the work force after 17 years in what else but fundraising.

I think FOD Eileen mentioned my mom in her blog and that lead to the confusion.

Later...COD Eileen
