May 22nd: Third Consolidation Chemotherapy Treatment Begins

Dear Fod's,

Thank you for continuing to post against our old news, your calls and cards are very much apprecitated. This post will up date you since our last posting.

Debbie went to Jester's on Wednesday by train and she absolutely enjoyed herself with her baby and grandbabies. (Walid did pretty good too!) Debbie took the train to Alexandria and Walid picked her up at a station just a few minutes from their home. She had a wonderful few days before we arrived for the weekend.

Mike travelled down on Friday afternoon. Joey and I came down on Saturday afternoon and we had a nice dinner together on Saturday evening. Jester made a pulled beef in the crock pot that was absolutely delicious. We ate that for the rest of the weekend.

The Christening was very nice and two baby girls were baptised that day. Emma Grace (our baby) and Emma Hope (other baby). I took that as a good sign and both Emmas did very well for themselves. Emma wore the gown that Debbie found in Venice and it looked very nice. I am not sure that Emma liked all of the frills, but she sure did look nice.

The guests had a feast back at the house with smoked turkey, ham, Debbie's potatoes and broccli rice casserole, and very nice red wines. After the dinner, we (Walid, Louie, Lea) went to the field and played baseball and soccer while Christian dug in the dirt. It was a nice evening.

On Monday, Debbie was not too anxious to leave ( and understandably so!!). We got onto the road a little after 12:00 and arrived at Penn a little after 3:00. Lucky for us, our special friend had the skids greased again and by 4:15, we were in Room 6020 on Deb's favorite floor and her nurse buddies Lauren and Charlotte were there to greet us and get Debbie checked in.

Once checked in, we were able to leave the hospital and go to one of our Penn spots for a quick dinner. Deb enjoyed a cheeseburger, with fries and a fried cheese cake dessert. When I left at around 7:00, she felt well and was tired.

They started the chemo last night and Deb had a second round in the morning. Mike went to visit today and they had a nice lunch. Susan Schneider went down to visit this evening and Deb is glad for the company.

I will have some business downtown tomorrow and will be able to visit Debbie around 3:30. She is doing well and appreciates all of your attention. Her land line is 215.615.8131.

Deb sends her love to all.

Thank you for the update, Mr. Joe!

Been thinking, thinking, thinking about you both.

It sounds like a wonderful weekend and hearing about Jessie's pulled pork makes me think about making Georgene Jensen's Famous Ft. Benning BBQ for the Ohio clan this weekend.

Prayers are going up, Chizzie.

I hope you are watching American Idol.

Love you - K

Dear Deb and Joe;
Came back to Missouri from my old Kentucky hometown Lexington, Oh what beautiful country.
Saw my kids and my grandsons all three, it was wonderful. I visited my best friend who is in a nursing home there. In 2 and1/2 days we packed in an awful lot. I loved every minute of it.
Sounds like you were pretty busy, with the Baptism and being with your children.
Hang in there I'm praying for you and BoB I dont know him but he is included in my prayers.
My love to all
BIG HUGS

Hey Deb:

Knew you were headed back to HUP soon and it looks like you are there now!

I am working on clearing my kitchen island...that may take me til next week! Came across all the pictures from the Easter Egg Hunt and Emma's birth. Hope you are still looking as swell as you did in those pics.

Today, Mere and Dave visited St. Louis University. I decided to let them do this one alone. Only an hour away, I figure if we need to I can look at it in the fall if she puts it high on her list. I can't read her on this one. She liked it.

Headed to Bee's baseball game. They are 0-3. Maybe tonight will be the night.

Hope to talk to you before fatigue sets in. Take good care. Funny that Joe mentioned fried cheesecake...just saw it on a menu yesterday...sounds like I may have to try it next time.

Talk to you soon....Will be looking for party pics of Emma's baptism soon...

Lots of love...COD Eileen

Deb,

Just spent alot of time reading all the blogs! I have to confess I haven't had the time to sit at the computer, read all what the FOD's are doing and keeping up with the latest "adventures" of the Teklits.

I don't know, just reading Joe's postings, your post to Cindy and the FOD's postings - I just had such a great and warm feeling wash over me. I hope you feel that too!

We've been in Lacrosse world the past two months, St. Joe's season ended a few weeks ago, Karen had a great season, started (as a freshman that is darn good) and was one of the top 3 scorers!!! The coach is talking athletic money for her so we're waiting to see how that works out.

She came home from school, 1st year finished, I can't believe it! She did great, her grades were terrific (not like the end of the twins' first year when one flunked out and the other one barely made it thru!) That's when Paul's hair turned all gray! Anyway she's home and now we are very busy working on the wedding plans for Margo! It's so much fun, though Paul can't understand how we can all talk for hours about the type and color of flowers for the bouquets! It's tough being the only guy with a wife and 3 daughters. Once we start on a roll, he, Margo's Jesse and Nicole's Mike just pick up and leave.

I don't have my dress yet and I was going to call you to find out where you bought your dress for Jessie's wedding. I loved it and I remember you telling us the ladies in the store were so helpful. Hopefully I can get through on your phone lines (doubt it!) so we can talk!

Take care of yourself and know that you and Joe, Jessie, Walid, Christian, Emma, Joey, and Mike are in our thoughts and prayers every day!

Love you all,
Barb and Paul

hey miss debbie,

often you are one of my first thoughts in the morning. this morning, our neighbor friend, mr. rooster cemented the deal. deb, i can't remember what i did yesterday but i swear when i hear that rooster, i summon up this vision of sr. charles christopher telling us the good friday story..."and when the cock crows three times"....i never let our neighbor get the chance, i usually scurry to the bathroom and shut the door. anyhoo, you have had a whirlwind of activity in the past two weeks. how like you to stop to squeeze a little consolidation in between! deb, when do you hope to come home? i have a laundry list of stories for you.....xoxoxo
