Post Second Consolidation: Readmission

Dear Fod's,

As you know, Debbie has been feeling poorly over the past few days and she was readmitted to HUP this afternoon. Joey was able to take her down shortly after noon today. She went first to the lab and they ran some antibiotics into her and then to a new room on Rhoades 3 -- Rm. 3012. Debbie has always been with her nurse buddies on Rhoades 6 and she was a little misty eyed when we arrived on a new floor and met the new staff. Her phone number is 215.615.8231.

They are concerned that with her counts being down and her continuing to run a low grade fever, that she would be better off in the hospital where she can get the proper treatments, rather than suffering at home. They will be running blood and platelets into her shortly and hopefully, that will perk her up. She also has a little lump on her catheter and no one is quite sure what to make of that, but they are keeping an eye on that as well. She is very tired and I expect that she will be sleeping shortly with some good sedation.

This is not the week to visit. The Penn relays start down here tomorrow and the place will be packed to the gills with people. The parking will be an absolute nightmare. We will all be looking and trains and cabs rather than trying to get into HUP as we have become accustomed.

Debbie thanks everybody for the many cards, call and blogs that she is still receiving. Hopefully, Deb's counts will recover shortly and she will be able to come home again soon.

Deb sends her love to all.

Hi Chiz -

Glad to see that you got checked in okay. I've been thinking, thinking, thinking about you all afternoon.

Evidently, this is where you need to be right now - I know how bummed you are. But better to be safe at this point, right? Get things checked out and make sure things are on track.

I hope you get some rest tonight and that your fever takes a powder now that you are in the hospital...ha-ha. May your wbc's proliferate, too! Pray and meditate on healing. Let God own you as Bev would say - I love that, Bev.

Love ya - K

Hi there girlfriend,

Well I guess this is the best place for you at this time. No fun though. Do let the good vibes being sent by all of the people who love you wash over you and help your healing. We want you home only once you are doing better.
I thought about you all weekend. Did you feel that salt air wisping your way. It whipped up enough down in Cape May I was sure that it had to reach Lansdale. Take care of yourself. Talk to you soon.
Again my mother is downstairs asking how you are doing. She sends her love and prayers your way also.

Love, hugs, and prayers,
jean

Hi, Aunt Debbie. I'm sorry to hear that things are still pretty rough, but hopefully HUP will help turn things around. I hope the antibiotics and other treatments help clear up this fever and give you more energy. Thanks for the updates, Uncle Joe. You guys are always in my thoughts!

Hey Deb!

So much for the message I left on your recorder at home today. Guess we will have to wait to talk about the visit to South Bend. I will let you catch your breath and perk up a bit.

I would imagine your body is getting just wiped out by all this chemo. I will keep you in my prayers so that you will be sure and get to the big graduation day.

Rest up...love you to pieces...COD Eileen

Aww Deb...damn! Not what you were hoping for, but better to nip this in the bud! Listen, this is just a tiny bump in the road...you've come this far!!
Keep hanging in there. Get your rest and get rid of the nasty bugs!
Gotta go, Jimmy just missed the bus. (It's nice that the little devils take turns driving me crazy).
Thinking of you.
Love you, Kim
