Post Second Consolidation: Day 6

Dear Fod's

It has been quite a trial for Debbie since our last post. We came home from HUP on Wednesday evening and Debbie had a very bad evening. At about 12:30 AM she was shivering in the bed with a fever and Deb went to her famous bath tub for some relief. I checked on her at 1:30 and 2:00 and she was feeling better -- but was still running a temperature. Debbie felt that the fever was under control and she was finally able to go to bed. Deb was able to get some sleep after 3:00 and was resting when I went to work on Thursday.

Deb was home on Thursday, but very uncomfortable with the low grade fever all day long. After being typed and cross matched on Wednesday, we were expecting to go down to HUP for plateletes, at a minimum today. Mo took Debbie down and Debbie needed both plateletes and blood. She had two units of both. Eileen helped by picking Debbie up from HUP and she is now home, but we are not sure for how long.

Deb's WBC is 0.3 (no immune system) and she is continuing to run a low grade fever. She had a bit of dinner tonight (cheese steak and fries -- she is sounding better to me!)

We will be taking one day at a time and expect to be down at HUP once or twice next week. Hoping for the best.

Deb sends her love to all.

Oh honey. I am so sorry for your latest misery. What a bummer. I hope the cheesesteak helped a little bit...it's veggie pizza from TJ's takeout here tonight. Mr. Hal had his big radio show today and we ended up having two showings on the house. The first group was early, the second group stayed late. Ai-yi-yi. Mama closed the kitchen. Tomorrow we're heading over to Dale and Lady G's to celebrate Dale's BD and hear about their India trip. Her niece and sister-in-law from Bethesda will be there too. It should be fun.

Fun makes me think of you, Chiz! I sure hope to see you soon. The phone is nice but I need some quality Chiz time. We didn't even get to talk about the TomKitten yet! Sending out the vibes chickadee and praying that your night tonight will be better. I hope you have something good that you're reading....

I love you, honey. K

Just checking in on you, honey. Hope you are having a nice rainy morning snooze. Isn't this a perfect day to stay in your pajamas all day and grow WBC's?

Praying that you are feeling better and coming up out of your crash zone. Speaking of crash zones, mdf - debbie and joe's trip to HUP is quite a schlep and it's via the dreaded Schuykill, possible one of the nastiest drives around. Good thing there's a miracle at the end of it - that's the only thing I keep thinking. Thinking about Ms. Mo making the trip as well.

Speaking of - I better go check on Mo and Dr. Bob. Talk to you soon, Chizzie. See all you FOD's around the blog later.

Good morning Chizzie-

Another wet and rainy one! Good for ducks and growing wbc, I hear. Been thinking of you like crazy kiddo - tried to get online last night but the cable was out. It's all better this morning as you can see. (Just like I am hoping you are)

Enjoyed seeing Dale and Gertrude yesterday. Loved seeing their pics and just getting to catch up with them. Dale liked his birthday gift (a smidgen of caviar, a dollop of creme fraiche and a handful of blini accompanied by cold Grey Goose vodka in a small flask. Hey, I'd like that birthday gift myself - thinking you might like it too, Joe. Don't know if you like the caviar though - do you?)

Anyways - that's about it from here. Thinking about going to Linens 'n Things to pick up some stuff to put on the woodfloors. It's also NBA playoff time if you're looking for a little sporting action this afternoon. I love the NBA. It's fan-tastic.

Will try to call at random intervals....but not bug ya.

Thinking of you - K
