To My Dearest, Dear FOD's,
Thank you again for all of the cards, flowers, food, gifts, calls, prayers and well wishes. I know once again that I have been difficult to get ahold of, however, Joe has not yet installed the ATT&T switchboard yet or hired my private operator (just kidding). Sometimes I don't answer the phone because I just don't want to tell the sad tale over and over again. So please forgive me. I am so touched by all of this attention.
I am thrilled beyond belief at being at home and am feeling OK. I am in denial again because I am feeling so good, but my visiting nurse reminded me today that this could change in a second, if my blood count numbers start to drop.
We are preparing for the Jefferson appointment, however, after doing some preliminary research, this haploidential stem cell transplant sounds too damn risky to me. We are also looking into Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for chemo alternatives. I spend most of the time not thinking about it -- since I had the last 60 days to dwell on it -- so give me a week or two to fool myself. But maybe a miracle will happen. With everyone praying for me, maybe it will happen. What the hell, I look like a monk now anyhow! (Joe English humor again.)
So thank you all again. Last weekend we spend a nice time at home with Mike, Joey, Allie and Dereck. It was great to have kids around because by the time we fed everyone again, and again, and again, we were too tired to do anything else. (Joe again) Rather, we did talk about kid stuff instead of me which was a pleasant diversion.
This weekend Jester, Walid and Christian will be visiting and I cannot wait. C is always the best medicine. We will post again toward the end of the week after the meeting with Jeff.
I hate to keep repeating myself, but my chemo brain has limited my range of thinking, but thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support and love. It keeps me going every day.

Like that idea if they forget what they are!I enjoy being in denial also,, maybe why clothes in the jr. dept dont fit me.. anyway. a little note to Kris also.. Special Guest Postings are very aptly named because they are indeed special. SGP # 7 is special in that it the 1st from HOME on Tennis Way. We were delighted to hear that you were able to do a tiny bit of shopping (purgatory to most men)last weekend, besides enjoying the company of Joe & the boys at home. We certainly agree that Mr C will be a delight to see along with Walid & Jessie this forthcoming weekend. Besides needing a special switchboard & a phone operator, you could also use a special coordinator to accommodate all of the requests for visitng. Freddie could assist in handling all of the traffic coming into & out of Tennis Way. My heart is broken after hearing the latest news. My spirit and faith however remain resolute! :) I have not written lately because I didn't know exactly what I should say to you. All my thoughts and prayers go out to you and Joe, and your wonderful extended family. After reading your Spec. Post. #7 and seeing that my lovely wife Catherine had responded last evening, I made the decision to break the media blackout! :) I cannot fathom having to make a decision like the challenge that faces you today. I have no true words of wisdom.(I know ,hard to believe) These are uncharted waters and I believe with all my heart that no decision is the wrong decision. Waste no time enoying every moment at home with all those who love you so. Leave no rock unturned when it comes to fighting this disease that has so rudely interrupted your blessed life with your family. God has had a plan for you all along and it is not for us to know what that outcome will be. No matter what, there will be no endings, only new beginnings. Wether you remain with us or go to a better place, Cathy and I will always keep you in our hearts and minds. We will be avilable to your family to help in any way we can. (I've been pushing alot of peoples wrong buttons lately) Anyhoo... it is great to "hear your voice" thru your posting. I do hope you enjoy this weekend with family and nuzzling up in your cozy home. School was interesting today.. we are trying to teach the kinders how to read and put letters together.our only girl in the class spelled out H_O_R...What does that spell Mrs. Foley?? Well hon, all you need is a quick S and E and you've got horse(they are pretty cute) then one of the boys in the class spit on another cause he didn't want him to talk to him! After being in time out for spitting, we asked him if anyone ever spits on him? And he said "yes" "who?" we asked and he said " God!" don't know if the rain had anything to do with that answer...
So Mo, are you hanging little hearts on your xmas tree now for the valentine look,or did you get down the xmas decorations..maybe the reason we haven't heard from Kim is she's on the "circuit" with her tennis...

Today I started my day at Mass with Brendan celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Brendan got to do the responsorial part of the readings and I watched him, looking like Dave and all of the sudden noticing his voice is changing. That started the tears. Then Fr. Sigmund gave a rare homily that kept my attention. The reading being Jesus in the temple and those gathered questioning his knowledge. He (Fr. Sigmund) then gave a homily about his sister who when he was in his young teens won a beauty pageant on a cruise ship that they were on celebrating his parents 25th anniversary. He said....my first thought was "my sister...win a beauty pageant?" His point was...often times we don't realize what others are capable of or what value they are? We tend to take people for granted. Are you following me...the tears were now flowing. I finally had to get my act together as the sign of peace was coming soon and Brendan's friends were all around me.
My point is we all have known just how special you are. I am sure by now you have figured out just how special you are to all of us.
You who would go out of your way for a stranger. You who plays Pic-Up-Sticks and Scrabble to the wee hours...did I mention cook meals and wait on us hand and foot.

Been busy here - interviewing real estate brokers to see about listing the house again. Don't know what we are going to do yet but thought we'd at least have an idea what the local market is doing. You know what that means - I've also been cleaning like a mickey fink, making sure everything looks just so. No more dust bunnies mating with the dog hair under the bed, etc.
I know this will frost your pumpkin - next week Mr. Hal is heading off to the UK and Ireland -what? Maybe Rome too? All your dang favorites! Where am I going? Maybe Ohio. For some reason that doesn't have the same ring as Dublin, London or Rome.

Sorry about the tear jerking blog, I guess I just needed to get some of that stuff off my chest. It is so clear to me, how much you all love Deb and Joe and their beautiful family. Its very hard to follow this ordeal she is going through, and not be with her, sharing time with her the way it is obvious you all have done in the past. I guess it has to be 10, 100, no 1000 times harder for her. It is truely a gift from God that each of us no matter what our challenges in life are able to be there for one another. We are all taught to love one another with a pure heart fervently, and each and everyone of you do so with each blog you write. There are only two things in this life we can control, and they are our attitude and activity. Lets all pray together today for Deb and her family, and the doctors charged with her care.
