Day 35
Deb was in good spirits today, had a good amount of energy, ate a very nice helping of roast beef, whipped potatoes (with cream cheese) and green beans from home -- big lunch send off for Mike -- and then she did her laps, with her personal trainer (mirrored sunglasses and bluetooth ear piece excluded). Mike went back to school today and he is safe and sound in Happy Valley. He was a very big help to us when Deb had her "dark time" the last time. On balance, however, he had three nights at HUP and 4 nights in Miami. Not bad, not bad at all. I'd take 2 nights in Ocean City!
Deb seems to be doing much better at this stage of the second induction than she was the last time through. By my counts, everything fell apart 9 days after the chemo stopped and she had 3 bad days leading into the collapse. While she does have a rash and is taking in fluids, so far none of this is as acute as it was the last time. The rash is there but it is not as swollen or as "hot" as the last one -- we are hoping that the new med regime will continue to protect her, but not cause her the extreme discomfort the last round did.
We will have the third bone marrow biopsy tomorrow. This was moved up from Tuesday. FOD ALERT -- FOD ALERT -- FOD ALERT -- SEND ALL POSITIVE ENERGY EAST FOR THE P.M. I have an important meeting in the morning that I cannot miss and Deb will not bare her bottom until I arrive. Since Deb already stared down one of the docs., her Nurse Practicioner should oblige Deb after this length of time. So we expect that it will happen after lunch. The future will ride on this outcome, and we are hoping for the best.
Deb sends her love to all.

Deb and Joe:
We will be sending positive vibes your way. Anxious to get the results as I know you are for sure.
Just finished our brainstorming for the auction. Fixed a pot of white chilli and a pot of pasta e fagolie(sp) That was a first for that recipe. I liked it, Dave was +/-. As usual you cook for 12 and 4 eat and you have lots of leftovers. Mom will get to sample the soup. She will be the true test.
The kids all send their love. Of did I mention that we had a Longhorn calf today. Haven't even told my mom...oops. Dave called me on my way home from the grocery and annouced that Katie had a calf. We named her "Star" after the feast of the Epiphany. Mere said, "How about Myhrr?" (sp) after the things the wise men brought. All brown except a little white on her tummy. Cows are amazing. So much that comes with instinct. Colin did have to get in the field and direct her. She kept trying to nurse on the neck of her Mom. It was almost 70 here today so it was great for the birthing process. Our first calf endured driving rain and hail the first night. We were a wreck. We are used to it all now and realize they do take care of themselves.
All our love, sorry for such a long cow story. Cousin Eileen
Mrs Teklits,
I will be in church today lighting lots of candles!!! and saying lots of prayers..... Stay strong..
love always,
Alli
Man-this place is humming there are so many vibes going on around here.
Glad to hear that your day was good yesterday, oh Chizzie. Praying for another good one today. Also praying that your test is painless and that you have the best possible outcome. Take all the drugs they'll give you this time, okay?
Been a little busy here FOD's, what with taking down the Christmas decor, baking glock laced cakes and conducting interviews for the FOD squad. Looking at ex-US Navy Seals, Calvin Klein models and NCAA football players to fill the bill. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it!
Been even thinking of constructing a FOD Paddle Machine for the Cosmo bash. Dr. Pearl will be the first candidate through our machine - we'll send him through and give him a rash on his buttocks that will give him a little taste of what our dear friend has been going through. Then we'll send him for a spin on the "Dr. Toad Transport Torture ride." Any FOD volunteers for drivers on this one?
Seriously though, Chiz, the candle is lit at the Delacroix and the prayers are unceasing. I love you honey.
K
P.S. When they said you were at UPENN hospital are you sure that PENN part doesn't mean PENITENTIARY?
As in this
Deb,
All the luck, love, prayers, good vibes, positive energy, etc. I can muster are all coming your way today. Always. Love, Kim
Kris--loved your message.
MDF---THAT was LOL funny! Kids are great...

oh - I hate it when that happens. Here it is in it's raw state: http://www.easternstate.org/
a redfaced K
P.S. Malcolm and Laurel can we have some of that pudding "that must not be named" for the Cosmo bash? Pretty please? There's nothing like a good pudding who must not be named. I dig that stuff.
Deb--It's such a hoot to read the notes from all the FOD's, Kris might just be the queen.
After reading them all, I'm sure your shoulders are heavy with the weight of all the prayers and love coming down to Penn. Stay strong sweetie, we're all thinking about you today--as always.
Love,
Cathy
Hey Debbie: Was just speaking with Pam Kunz on Sunday and she told me what whas going on - sent me the website. I am praying for you every day. Hello Debbie,
It is so good to hear the good news coming from Philly! We continue to pray fervently for your recovery from all of this nonsense! We wish you the best tomorrow and expect nothing but great news. :) (As you think so you attract) Cathy and I are waiting with baited breath, (Phew!!) I think thats bated breath, :) for that big bash when you get home and repatriated.
By the way,you and your family have our deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved family member Simmie. It always amazes me at how attached we get to our animals. They are always sorely missed. (Maybe what you need is a new puppy to keep you busy when you get home. LOL!!! :) Stay away from the Jack Russels. Take my word for it!
God be with you and stay strong. We await the good news. Love Cathy and Artie
Hi Debbie,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and having everyone I know pray for you, especially today when you have your test. I read the blog every morning when I get to work...It's usually easier to get updates that way rather then having to track down my mom for them. I can feel the positive energy flowing your way today (and always!)
Love,
Audrey Goodyear
Debbie, All the Walsh's send their good vibes and prayers to you today. I love to read all these comments that your family and friends leave. It is the next best thing to being there. You keep giving them hell girlfriend and you will be home before you know it! Love, Joe,Lynne,Brian,Mandy,Laura and Kyle
The positive vibes just keep floating your way honey..I was up at 3am and of course said another roasary for an easy and "good news" bonemarrow....maybe if the nurse p hurts you when she's corkscr---- your hip you can refexally kick her in her butt..would that even work???I think it could if you timed it just right... talked to Joey Kraynak and of course, he sends his love and bestest wishes (Cliff too),also Kosierowski who says you are definitely in the best hands and you will certainly beat this (he did admit it wouldn't be easy) but agrees with all that if anyone can do it.. it will be you!! I really felt good after talking to him ( he was in the office when I went for blood work) and I just ran into him... he asked me how you were..he was very concerned and I was touched ...anyway to repeat what everyone else is saying ..a lot of people out there have you in their hearts ...Sunday nite the bible study group of J&M met and said special prayers for a good bonemarrow outcome...love and positive energy abounds :)Bev
Debbie and Joe,
We are so glad that you have your energy and appetite back again. Mike's 2nd semester Sr year will go by rapidly even though his thoughts will remain with you daily. We join the others in praying for good results of the biopsy taken today. You remain in our thoughts and prayers, Love, mom and dad.
