Day 30
Debbie is doing well and she had a nice day today with Jess and Joey. Because of the rain, they were able to go down together and visit with Deb, have lunch from the trucks and enjoy each others company. When I arrived at about 4:00, Jess was leaving, Joey had jumped a train 2 hours earlier and Deb was ready for a nap. We tucked Deb in, she slept for about 1.5 hours and I retired to my Ravdin 9 office.
When Deb awoke, we talked and did some laps until dinner arrived. It was a Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy (they still make that stuff??), so we sent about meal 82 back to the kitchen and Deb had some chicken soup that we made over the weekend. We did some more laps and she was hoping to stay awake for the PSU game, but I doubt it.
Deb's counts are way down and she is definitely getting more tired now. She slept through part of a visit yesterday and today, and that is probably how it will be for the next week.
Deb was getting a little itchy today and we were closely watching her skin for another rash. We think that it is only the dead skin from the last two rashes, but only a day or two will tell. Her throat is doing fine, she is keeping up with her mouth care and things look good so far. The next few days will be the toughest times for her.
Please be patient if you call and don't get through. For the short time that I was in the room, there were 5-6 calls. 5 of them on the cell phone --- people you are killing me!!! Use the land line 215.615.8349.
Jess and Christian go home tomorrow and Mike comes back from the Orange Bowl.
So far so good with this round of the chemo. Keep hoping for the best.
Deb sends her love to all.

Just checking in, Deb. Sounds like you're doing great. I sure hope you do manage to stay up for the game, I'm sure Mike will have lots to tell you when he gets home.
Sleep well, sweetie.

Man, I'm offline for a few days and have to wonder at all that's happened!
Just blew back into town tonight Chiz and had to hop on here to see what was happening. Sweetie niece Pauline kindly printed off your last few posts for me and I got to read them yesterday - but alas, no comments were attached. I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is going on in the comments section! A shout out to all my FOD's - it's good to be back in FOD country.
Sorry, I missed the visitors window this time - will be dropping in another letter soon, Chizzie.
Kind of glad I wasn't able to reach you via phone and gave up trying about a week ago - hah!
Seriously, I'm thinking about you loads and you know how things are - we'll talk when we're supposed to, I guess!
But , FOD's I AM calling a serious flirt alert here.
When I heard about the mysterious physician sweeping down on our Chizzie the other day - I had to wonder about my little friend. She seemed quite - well, animated about the doctor. Was the world renowned oncologist also a world class hottie?
I get back on here and I hear him being called Dr. Stud! Now, what's up with that? I smell something more meaty than salisbury steak around here!!
C'mon! Inquiring minds want to know!
Fess up FOD's...
I love you Debbie. K
Live blogging the Orange Bowl:
Penn State scores! It's going to be a long night for Florida I think. Spoken like a Buckeye who has had also had a long night with Penn State.
Deb:
Glad to hear that this round of chemo is going better than the last. Will continue to keep you in my prayers that the next few days will also be uneventful.
Continue to rest your body!

PS Do you think this food is better than North Penn Hospital??
Thank God for food vendors!
Debbie,
I'm watching the PSU game right now thinking about ya. All of my friends are down there at the game also, hope Mike is having a great time. I am so glad to hear that you are doing okay and that you do not have any terrible rashes or throat problems. I have one round of rosaries with your name on it, right after the game! Have a great sleep... I'm sure you need it, and I doubt you'll get it once you're better and about 10 million people want to see the one and only Ms.Inspiration herself, Debbie Teklits...
Get Better SOON! xoxo

Hey Deb-
I just wanted to let you know I had so much fun with your grandson these past two days. He is so cute and smart I couldn't get anything past him. He loved playing with his toys and playing peek-a-boo. He was upset when I left today so I think he liked me too! I hope you enjoyed the time with Jessie I know it probably wasn't enough. She is so sweet and I was glad to finally meet her.
I send all my love and wish you the best. Get well very soon and sleep well! Miss you!
Love, Katie Seward

BIG HUGS Your Aunt Angie
Good morning Debbie, from Patti Parsons and Suzanne Campbell. Although word had travelled up 309 to Grand View about your forced time off work it wasn't until the other day that we actually found out how to get into the Blog...what a great idea!
Not to be redundant, but we send our love and warmest wishes for you and your family, and prayers without ceasing for your speedy recovery from this ordeal. We will follow your progress here, and know that we are just two more who love and cherish you in our lives.
Suzanne and Patti
PS...I have a wardrobe of "no hair gear" if you are interested! hehe!
PSU BACK ON TOP!!!!
Three overtimes! Insane! They finally did it at 1:00 A.M. I hate kickers! :) Ryan says he sees Kelly several times a week at the food court. He is going to slap him next time he sees him. :) No really PSU PROUD in the Lehigh Valley! Great game!
I love to hear the continued good news on the Teklits front. Deb, I can empathize with you. As you will remember, I was in the hospital six months. Its like the Orange Bowl, way to long. I whole heartedly support Hospitals, I just don't advocate them. :) I Pray for your continued progress with your therapy. I thank the good Lord for your strength and perseverance. Joe, thank you for the daily updates, God Bless you, and keep you through this challenge. Stay strong! Let us know if there is anything, and I mean anything we can do. Love Cathy and Artie. :)
Hi Debbie,
I enjoyed our phone conversation so much, I'm sorry it had to end the way it did, I said a prayer that you won't suffer from that anymore. Sounds like you're hanging in there and doing good this time. Hope the New Year brings miracles for you.
Love,
Pam K.

Hi Aunt Debbie. I'm happy to hear that everything is going well this round so far. You have so many wonderful people looking over you! I enjoyed a phone call from Jessie last night. She really enjoyed her visits with you and the family. I think it was good medicine for everyone!
I only caught a few minutes of the PSU game last night but read about it online this morning. I'm sure Mikey, Uncle Rick, and Shane had a great time! I actually left work sick again yesterday and slept on and off most of the afternoon and night. I love my little ones at school, but the germs are terrible! My hands are all dried out from washing them so much, but all to no avail.
Take care of yourself, rest, and recover. I hope the new year brings happiness and good health to you, the family, and all our fellow Bloggers.
Love,
Lisa
P.S. Still waiting to hear the details on Dr. Stud!
Hi, Deb, Just writing to let you know I'm thinking about you and hoping you continue to do well with this round of chemo. I'm sure Penn State's win last night will boost your spirits. I'm sure Mike is flying high! Take care. Hugs, Kay Gould.
Debbie,
We are all dragging a bit today after staying up till 1 am to watch PSU finally beat FSU, which they should have done much earlier in the evening. Hopefully, you were sleeping peacefully during that crazy game. I think Bob woke up half the neighborhood with all of his shouting at the TV screen. Mikey will probably be a little tired when he gets home...he and a few of our friends had the 8am flight home this morning after a late game. I am sure most PSU fans stayed awake all night celebrating before catching their flights. If Mikey comes down to see you today, the two of you can nap together.
So glad to hear that Jessie and Christian were able to visit. Even happier to hear that round 2 is over. We are all praying that your next few days are comfortable and that this round of chemo has done the trick!
Stay strong!!
Karen & Bob
Glad to hear you are up and doing the laps again, Debbie. It makes the whole dreadful experience sound like you and Joe having a quiet stroll round the decks of the Queen Mary 2 to walk off one of the unfeasibly large meals you get on these cruise ships - though gathering from the description of the hospital food I guess that's a good bit off the mark!
I want you to know that I have another market to take you to when next you come to London - the covered Victorian one on my doorstep in Spitalfields. That's Jack the Ripper territory - I can give you the tour - though you may feel the market traders are more Jack the Rip-off. But I know that your charm and guile will get the better of them. And there are some nice restaurants here, too. As this market starts at a civilised hour (11 a.m.), that could mean a luscious lunch instead of a "greasy spoon" Bermondsey breakfast!
Here's to a "guid new year" as we Scots say, and may health be your handsome "first foot" for 2006.

Debbie:
Hi from Lee-Lee. This is my first attempt to leave a comment. here goes....HURRY THE HELL BACK HOME!!!FIGHT HARD AGAINST THE ALIEN WITHIN THAT TRIES, BUT FAILS, TO OVERPOWER THAT SEXY, BEAUTIFUL YOU!!! THE SURGI-CENTER WILL NEVER BE THE SAME UNTIL YOUR RETURN.
Seriousl, I miss you tremdenously. My lack of written word is equal & opposite to the many, loving thoughts I hold for you. Hang in there, Babe. The army awaits on the sidelines to help in some way. Lee Williamson
Oh my gosh! Believe it or not we stayed up to watch the entire Penn State/FSU game. I was emotionally drained. Just kick the damn ball would you! Those poor kickers. What a huge burden was laid on them. I can only imagine how excited Michael is and was! I guess that was a better experience than going to Italy...the birthplace of our ancestors...Brendan was thrilled as he purchased a hat online with Penn State and the Fex Ex bowl logo. Santa brought gift cards to Dick's Sporting Goods.
Thrilled to hear that you are still hanging in there and the rashes and bad stuff are holding off.
Today I spent working on the high school auction. While they were on break my hands were tied from doing anything and it about killed me. Today, the development department was pretty sick of me by days end. I am afraid to show up tomorrow. They may have changed the locks. But we made great headway and I felt alot better when I left. Five weeks and counting.
Will be at Brendan's game tonight for some of the Texas USC game. Colin will be glued to the TV. Texas better win or we will be in serious trouble here.
Love to all....Cuz Eileen
Debby & Joe,
Sorry for a rather late blog input but we're not used to staying awake until 1 AM. We thought of Mike, Rick & Shane who were at the game & assumed that Mike got no sleep at all since he had an 8:00 AM flight. Rick & Shane got to their motel room at 3:00 AM so not many folks from PA got their normal allotment of rest last night. We are always delighted to read that you had a good day, & let's hope that they continue unabated. We hope that Jess & Christian are safely home- they did have a very nice driving day. We don't think that we'll see very much of the USC-TX Rose Bowl game & don't really care who wins anyway. You remain in our thoughts & prayers, Love, Mom and Dad
Debbie,
we are so glad to hear this round seems to be going better for you. I was really happy to hear that Pam and Fred agreed to help if it is needed. Get all the rest you can. You are in our prayers every day.
Lots of Love,
Lisa, Shirley, Eddy, Aunt Rosie and Rosemarie
