Day 31

Well FOD's, not sure where we are going now, a little rash is beginning to appear -- Deb was scratching like Simmie in summer yesterday-- and we have something blooming today. Swollen gland in her throat, along her jaw line -- not liking this stuff! But everyone is watching closely and taking these indications seriously. Looks like something may be cooking here and will keep you posted.

Deb was very tired today, which is understandable with all that PSU excitement last night. Deb watched until 11:30 and gave it up (I made it until 9:00). I watched the good parts on the news this morning while on the treadmill. Deb slept and rested alot today. Jess tried to stop in one more time for a drive by good bye but Deb could not make it to the lobby. The previously dormant lower regions have become active again. Sleeping and running were today's activities. That would make anyone tired.

Mike arrived home safe and sound, but very much worse for the wear! He had a fantastic time in PSU-ville, enjoyed South Beach, the clubs, the bars and the game. But hey -- who wouldn't have enjoyed a 4 day tailgate? I asked him where he ate yesterday and he said that the PSU tailgaters fed him. He just mooched off of everyone (and anyone) he could and made a day of it. As I understand it, they were at the game at 1:00 PM for the 8:15 kick-off. He came home and slept for the afternoon and is now with Debbie for a visit.

Jester went to VA today. She and Deb had good visits and that made both of them feel better and we are glad for that. She called us later today and left us a message on the machine. Wanted to know, "if it was too quiet up here now?" We have not answered yet, but are savoring the serenity.

We are keeping close watch on Debbie and will keep you posted.

Deb sends her love to all.

Hey Deb,

You made it past me last night for the PSU game- WOW You are tough!! Our son stayed up for the whole game, like the devoted PSU student that he is, and was a bit disappointed with the playing. However, we were all certainly glad they won!!! Yea, WE ARE Penn State!!! He is so awe struck that your son got to be there!! What a wonderful experience for him!!
As for you, hang in there, the road will be a bit bumpy again but you will get through it!! We are all praying and wishing for everything to settle down for you!! Please let your "hubby" know how much we all appreciate his entries on the blog!!

Keep strong,
Karen Burns

My dear Chizzie-

I second that Mo emotion. Day 31. December gone. Who would have thunk it. Have I told you lately how much I admire you? I do sweetie. Stay strong. Take comfort in all the love streaming your way. See it in your mind's eye, enveloping you in a nice warm, mellow glow. (I hope you have some choice tunes in there that you are listening to.)

Praying that you have a night of sweet, restful repose. That you are tucked in your sumptuous Donna Teabags slumber sac, the rash has subsided, your nether regions are soothed, the choppers are taking a night off, the attack pigeons are giving it a rest and that your pecker is firmly in it's place.

Hang tough. Sweet dreams. I continue to pray for enlightened individuals to cross your healing path. And Dr. Stud is the latest example. heh.

I love you, my friend. K

P.S. Joe - you continue to rock. I joined you in the 9:00 club and can relate to your recliner experience. You are in my thoughts, pal.

Hallelujah...Texas and PSU win. The boys at my house are happy, happy, happy. Now we can all get some rest. Two nights of midnight bedtimes and I can't take it anymore. Not to mention this down to the wire nonsense.

You can imagine that Colin went to bed singing (and doing the Bobby shuffle) as he is such a big Texas fan. I think raising the Texas Longhorns on our farm has gotten him all warped. But life here will be much easier now that Colin is happy. Also as Mom mentioned that is where Matthew goes to school so we have lots of happy folks.

I am hoping that your small setbacks are the extent of the rashes and sore throats. I will say a prayer at bedtime tonight for you to have an easier tomorrow.

Brendan won his game so the tournament continues on Friday. He got 8 points. They are fun to watch.

Sleep tight my dear.

Love, Cuz Eileen

Deb,Happy and blessed New Year to you and your family. I appreciate looking at these updates and know that all those prayers are keeping you strong. Things at the Walsh family are hectic but fun. What would we do without those kids! Brian's first semester at Kutztown went well. Go PSU - what a game! What an ongoing tailgating party that must have been for Mike. I am jealous! Take care Deb. My church prays for you everyday and so do I. Love, Lynne Walsh

Hi Deb and Joe!
Great news that your family is willing to help with the possible stem cell transplant! That is a relief. Hopefully you will never need it though!

I hope the rash is clearing up and everything is settling down, today! You ARE going to beat this thing and be feeling fine before you know it!

I sure hope the rash and sore throat have been stopped...what a drag! Wondering if they started the steroids again??
Im a little pms so get ready, but i have discovered as i get older that i really don't enjoy 3 way mirrors.. yesterday i went to Macy's with a gift card and tried on some sweats.. as i was checking them out, i thought to myself.."look at that fat ass!" and much to my amazement it was all me!! You don't get a full view on your mirrors at home!So i decided it was because i was in the jr. dept..so i asked where womens was.. and do you know they have a whole separate store called Macy's Woman!Like we need extra space to shop or something.... well, after not finding anything particulary eye catching there, i decided to go to housewares.. and lo and behold.. that is where all of us middle aged, over weight women seem to end up! Found myself trying to decide between a electric roasting pan, or a bissel flip it.. finally decided i should wait.. so after much thinking , i might go back and get that roaster and flip it.. stick to walmart for my clothes..
Need to take mark to pick up his friend . another great bowl game last night..weather here is finally drying out.. have windows and doors open for fresh air!
continue to support you in every way.. stay strong.. lots of love,,mdf

No matter what the outcome, you will be alright. :) The Prayers of the Faithful continue unending. We love you! Joe Stay strong for all of us! Thanks for the daily updates. Debby and Joe,
Nothing like a good night's sleep after watching too many bowl games, and for the most part, we were pleased with the game winners. Go State!! For clarification, we chatted with Mike, Rick & Shane after 1:00 PM while they were in the stadium parking lot, joining the other "tailgaters" & the "good chow". I think all three of them need to "fill up their sleep tanks" after a long night of football. We were sorry to read that some of the "itching" is returning & we certainly hope that the UP staff can prevent the same rashes/mouth sores from occurring again. We received your nice thank you note, & we understand your taking Grammy Bodish's afghan home-it is indeed a family heirloom. We are pleased that Jessie & Christian are safely home again & the "little man" can return to his favorite game of playing hide & seek in his mom's kitchen cabinets. You continue to be in our thoughts & prayers, love, mom and dad.

Hey, Deb,
I can't believe what you're going through. I hope you can feel all the love being sent your way. Patrick is so jealous of Mike! He took a two-week course during the break so missed going to the Orange Bowl. I'm sure Mike made up for Patrick's absence!
Thanks to you, Joe, for the daily updates. It almost feels as if we're there with you and Debbie. Rest and get those demons under control! Hugs, Kay
