Hi Everybody,

Is anyone there???? I'm so sorry that i have not written in such a long time. Guess what? I had a busy summer. Fortunately I was able to spend a fair amount of time at the shore this summer. It was really good to be at the beach. The girls brought the babies down and we had so much fun. Isabelle (Izzy) is almost a year old. (Oct. 13th) Christian was 4 in June and Miss Emma is 2 1/2. I've continued with chemo every 28 days for 5 days in a row. I was doin ok until about 6 weeks ago when i started having BIG problems with nausea. I actually needed IV fluids with IV Zofran for 7 days 2 weeks ago. Thank goodness for my wonderful nurses Kathy and Heather who arranged for me to get the fluids at home and not in the hospital. We are trying to decide now what to do about the next 2 rounds (8&9). I continue to be nauseated (not losing one ounce by the way !!!!)so maybe we will do a bone marrow biopsy (YIKES)to see where we are. Still dizzy which doesn't help the stomach problems. And still very deaf. It's actually a little funny because Joe has had bad hearing since the days when he was a rock star. So when we are in a public place niether of us can hear. It takes both of us reading lips to decipher the dinner specials at a restaurant. And once when asked what kind of dressing I wanted on a salad, I asked for a vodka tonic.
Beach Betty I looked for you at the beach but never saw you. Hope all is well. Congrats on your new grandbaby. To the collegians, Meredith, Laura, Carolyn, and Mark ( i hope i'm not fogetting anyone) can you believe you are sophomores ? May Day you are so funny. I too need a concealer bra. but you made it sound much funnier. Visitor Allison, I'm sorry i missed you at the shore, i was not there that week but so many of my friends ask if i've met you we really need to get together. As of monday i'm on house arrest because my white count is very low making me very susceptible to infection. I hate to even print this and jinx myself but it's been almost 8 mos. since i've been in the hospital. Heather has been (and Kathy) my biggest supporter in flying under Dr. Porter"s radar several times this summer when i had fevers and other symptons. I've developed a real phobia about being in the hospital so i am eternally grateful to everyone who have gone out of the way to keep me home.

Well i will close for now. I really and truly think of you all the time and wonder whats happening in your lives. THANK YOU to all who supported the Lite the nite walk last week. It was very moving once again. Meg Thanks for your work. Thank you all for the continued cards and blogs and kind thoughts I know some of you were wondering if i was ok because it took so long to write but thanks to your prayers and thoughts I'm ok. I love you all and i will write soon.

Love Debbie

Hi Deb!
Still checking in regularly and so glad to see your post. We will have to ramp up the prayers to get you feeling better!

I was so glad to see you in August, it meant so much to have you there.

Dan started his senior year at Clemson and Andrew is now a senior in High School and working on his college applications. He has already gotten several scholarship offers and hasn't even applied yet!

Hang in there and keep up the fight!

We love you,
Cindy, Keith, Dan, Andrew and Aunt Shirley

Hi Deb,
Great to hear from you. I don't know where the summer went. I had company everyday down there. Once we bought the boat I didn't go to the beach on the weekends. I'm glad to hear you had a busy summer too. I hope your counts improve so you can enjoy the fall season. I've been so busy with this picture season. I'm very thankful for that. I start babysitting the grandchildren on Oct. 6. Just two days a week while Jill is working. Addison went for her 2 month checkup. She weighed 16 something( you can tell it's the second grandchild, the first I knew exact measurements!) Anyway, she's quite the little porker!Well, I just stopped home to get my camera and check my e-mails. Praying the weather holds out so I can get this football league in tonight. I look forward to your future posts.
Take care,
Betty

I'm always checking this blog for updates and hoping you are well! I am giggling about the alcoholic dressing request - and it just goes to show you that the world could really benefit from more loud talkers like myself ;)

Big hugs to you!

Dear Debbie,
Great to hear from you, seems like you managed to enjoy the summer despite all your ailments you poor thing! I enjoyed a last minute visit from my Mum and sister, we had some lovely time hanging out. I sustained a "middle age weekend warrior" injury (at least that was the google definition!) while they were here, my medial gastrocneminus!!! (I know the nurses reading like real details ha ha).. I'm in a boot, can't Irish dance but still hopping through life with my same old spirit. My business is growing which is necessary if I am to beat the horrible legal fight to save it! (why do all divorces have to end up ugly!!)... I'm off to Vegas in 2 weeks to give a key note speach.. got to love America.. I get paid to speak then gamble!!! lol. Love to you always Debbie you name the time and place and I will be there, Irish tea, biscuits and some vodak n tonic on hand!

lots of love, Visitor Alison.

Hey, Deb! Great to hear from you. Glad to hear you had a good summer, but sorry about the nausea...and the hearing. I've had vodka on salad and it's pretty good. Well fruit salad - and it's better if it ferments a few weeks :-) I'm a grandma now (Oma, actually) Matt had a boy (Liam James)in April and I'm babysitting 2 days a week since Laura went back to work (she works 2 12-hr. nite shifts a week) It's great! (babysitting, not nite shift). i was hoping no news was good news and keeping you in my prayers anyway. Hope they figure some way to resolve the nausea without a bx. Love and prayers, Mussie

Hi, Deb - you sound great! Hey - ND won another game - and against Purdue (all of my co-workers at Carmel High School are Purdue Alumni!). Think of you all the time and you are always in my prayers -- with the girls! Still hoping I'll be a grandma by 60 (I turned 57 this past summer); but, whatever works for Jen and Shelly is fine. Jen loves her firm in DC and Shelly still has two years of residency left. And, Katy (she was at the game on Saturday and I saw her for about 10 minute!), she loves Chicago and has two years left before she gets her doctorate in Psychology - she received her masters in May. I doubt that she will get married any time soon! And, I continue to love my job as athletic secretary at Carmel High School - 4,000 students is a lot of kids!!! It is keeping me young and coherent and keeping alzheimers at bay (the girls' theory!). That's about it for us - love you and your family. Take care and continue to get stronger and stronger! Love, Cheryl (Crone)

Hi Deb and Joe...or should I say...
HEY DEB AND JOE...(did you hear that?)

I had given up on a new blog! Yippee! So glad to hear from you. Tried to give you a ring probably now a week and half or so ago. No answer at the house. Am always thinking about you. Stitching away on the piece you picked out at the shore. They didn't supply enough threads so I called the shop and the manufacturer sent me more.

All the kids are well....You won't believe it but Colin is on the Homecoming court. The Homecoming Game is Friday night and the dance and coronation are Saturday. Mere of course will be home for all the festivities. Colin is working on college applications. He has been accepted at Central Missouri State University and Western Illinois University. Smaller schools with hopes of playing football. Time will tell. The season so far is 3-2. Last year was such a great year the losses have been bitter for him. Bee has been having a good season on JV..he is playing center and linebacker on defense. Mere is doing well in school. She has been accepted to go to St. Louis University's Madrid campus in January for the semester. She is excited as are Dave and I since we figure we have to visit her while she is there.

We are moving Colin's graduation party to Memorial Day weekend as Dave's niece is getting married in August and we are trying to space out the family gatherings more. I know you like to be at the shore for the 4th so I hope that you continue on your present course of less bumps in the road and you can come out to the midwest for a visit.

Tell Mary Foley that she got me hooked into that dang reunion.com. Good news is a cousin from Uncle Matt's side has contacted me from signing on.

Continued good news from your end I hope. I bet the BMB will give us good news. Stay in and out of trouble.

Love you to pieces...COD Eileen

Hey Chiz -

How good to see you at the blog again. It sounds like everyone has had a busy summer. Where the heck does the time go? Good to see everyone checking in and checking up on you, kiddo. Boo-hiss on that N&V crap, though.

Sending up big prayers for Nurses Kathy and Heather who continue to be so supportive and so loving and kind to our Chizzie. Thanks to them for keeping you healthy and flying under the radar during this last round of chemo!

LOL at the thought of you and Joe lip reading your way through dinner. I swear Mr. Hal's hearing is going bad, too. Either that or his "ignoring skills" are improving! Still that hearing thing has to be annoying honey. Leave it you Chiz, to take it all in stride and with such good grace and humor.

It was so good to talk with you yesterday, honey. Keep us posted on your next course of treatment and prayers up for your poor, sore hiney after your bone marrow...

I'm watching the sun come up as I write this (and I'm praying for your hiney. ha-ha.) It looks like another beautiful Colorado day is coming up.

Love you honey, give my love to all the T's and I'll send you a postcard from Maui! Aloha.
K

So good to hear from you! I had a great time at the shore and so happy that I got to come up and see you! Hope all is well. Everything is pretty good here. Colin didn't get homecoming king but of course he will always be a king to me :D.. We have told Brendan that this puts a lot of pressure on him to be on the court because both Colin and I were!

Talk to you soon! Love Mere
