Happy 4th of July

Dear Fods,

We hope that you all enjoyed the holiday. We spent it at the beach with all of the grandbabies, Mike and Laurie. The house was full of people, food, and laughter. The babies are sooo cute. The weather surprised us by just raining at night or early morning so that we could go to the beach. Debbie was very good and sat under her new chair -- with the awning -- and did very well with the sun -- which she is supposed to be avoiding.

Debbie still has the dizzies and the hearing comes and goes. The noise in her ears bothers her the most. She will see a new doctor -- Dr. Bigelow - a neuroaudiology specialist - on Friday.

Chemo starts again tomorrow. Debbie will be getting dacogen at home again -- Monday through Thursday and will likely get it at Penn on Friday. Her counts are normal and Debbie feels that she is in remission. We would have liked to put the chemo off until Fall, but Dr. Porter feels that we need to keep up the chemo because it has been 4 months since her last treatment. Debbie has done very well with the leukemia part of her symptoms -- it is now the new nasal/hearing/equilibrium problem -- that has kept her down most recently. This is the longest span of time that she has gone without being hospitalized since she was originally diagnosed in December 2005. That is a very good thing.

Debbie is much happier now and believes that she may be invincible again.

Thank you again for your prayers, blogs and cards. They really help to keep Debbie's spirits up.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Hope this new dr. can help you with all this ENT stuff.. just don't call him Deuce...ha..
The beach really is the best place isn't it! All that fresh air, sunshine.. salt water.. can't beat it..
Busy 4th here.. Patrick came up to see friends .. they ended up going to sf but basically spent the night climbing up and down hills to try to see fireworks due to fog.. Mark and I watched them from in front of our house since he had an early baseball game on sat and it was hour and a half away..
Then Mark played again on sunday , same place,, another early time. but i stayed to see Patrick off back to summer school.. he only had 2 1/2 weeks left of it!! Fast,, thinks he'll stay down there for awhile after school ends.sleep on his friends/old roomates couch and just hang out on the beach and surf... really not alot to do in this town.. so can' blame him..
That is it here.. but i have to tell you that I think the whole family of Teks are the Incibles! Keep it going.. and the prayers will continue... good job.. lots of love. mdf

Debbie, so good to hear that you had a good holiday with all the kids, aren't they the best!! Brian and I were enjoyed the 4th by going to the gym, then off to Janet's for an awesome BBQ, we had such a good time with Harrison and Sawyer. They really enjoyed putting on a fireworks display followed by dipping pretzel logs and potato chips in yummy Calibaut chocolate. It was a fun day. We are going down to visit John and Sandra in two weeks, CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm going to have to get in as many visits as possible before they move (sad sad sad). Again, very very happy to hear that you are doing well... you are truly AMAZING.
Love, Patty

"Just don't call him Deuce"

That was a good one.

Hi Chizzie-

Sounds like your 4th was fun, honey. So glad to hear it. It was a quiet one here in CO. We just BBQ'd and hung out. They pulled the plug on the Castle Rock firework display after 5 minutes because they started a fire. Yikes. It's very dry here this time of year.

Been thinking of you and just got a card off to you in the mail. I think I've had the card sitting on my desk for 4 months. Not only that, after studying it for a minute I came to the conclusion I had sent you the same card before.

Either that or I just think I did because it's been sitting there so long. Ai-yi-yi.

Today should be your Day 2 with the Dacogen and I hope it's going okay. Also hope that Deuce has a clue about what is causing those darned spins and hearing loss!

Well, it's 10:30 and I'm still in my pjs. I guess I better get rolling here. Mr Hal is off to Europe for 8 days and I will use the time to do all the chores I didn't get done while I was in Ohio. (right)

Love you honey.

Hi Honey-

Just a quick Monday check in. Wondered how your appointment with Deuce went.

Things are things here. Mr. Hal is enroute from Amsterdam to Dublin and will be home from there on Wednesday. I've been just keeping a low profile, eating cereal for dinner and being a slug. It feels great. Hah.

About those chores? Not getting much done. I think I will take the doggies out for their walk this morning.

It's a pretty day here, not a cloud in the sky and a nice cooling breeze from out of the mountains. Sounds like I need to send some of that cooling breeze mdf's way -

Well honey, I'm thinking of ya and I love ya.

Love to all the Teklits and FOD's.

Hi there Deb and family,
checking in and nice to hear some good news. Keep on movin. Good luck with the chemo.
I have been back to work for a month now. Getting better on the tired scale, not fizzing out till around 4pm. After that I am not responsible for what I type.
Was in Cape May over the 4th. Had great weather, only rained at night, of course this meant on the 4ht also. Watched what I could see from the house, could have walked down, just was not sure for the walk back.
Julie Jourdan became a US citzens in June, she was the first Fijian the Judge and lawyers had sworn in that they could remember. Had a big party/picnic at my house last weekend for her, it was fun to do something, though I am still recuping today. Take care,
lots of hugs, and prayers are being sent your way. jean

Hello, Deb!
Well, the flag still waves in front of the house, and the pattern and flowers are a bit worn, but still bright and lively enough! The true sign of your stamina!
Keep it up! Would love to chow down on one of KM's tuna hoagies with you one day.
I think of you always.

Hi Debbie,
I am so computer illiterate! I have been checking the site daily and today July 4th shows up. It's the 19th! My computer must have its own timetable.
I spent the end of June and the beginning of July in Wilkes-Barre. I'm down here until the end of the month. I have been keeping myself very busy. I painted the garage-walls, ceiling and floor! Greg put up shelves for me and it looks nice. It's the first thing I see when I back into the garage and I like it! Greg took down those floor to ceiling mirrors and I patched and painted the wall. Got a permit to redo the patio and will wait for a break in the weather before tackling that one. Painted the inside of the closet in the spare room and will be going to Home Depot for rods to hang clothes. I remember when I used to go to Bon-Ton and Kohls. Now it seems I just got to the Depot.
Taking a cruise with Greg August 28-23, just from New York to Nova Scotia. Hope to have all the house stuff done by then!
I hope those doctors know that their medicine is helped by all the prayers sent heavenward for you! Your are WOMAN, I can hear your ROAR!
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Okay, its not bad enough that you turn 50 and get an application for AARP on almost that same day, or that your breasts are now an inch lower than when you were in your 20's.. or,, the fact that you have learned to love that cold room at Costco when a hot flash kicks in.. but now my doctor starts orderning tests to be done cause i'm 50!
Yes Deb,,this is the summer of the sigmoidoscopy.. now, i gulped down that damn mag citrate, yuk, hour later im thinking there is something wrong with me.. no reaction.. everyone who has ever drank this must be a wimp.. next hour.. KABAM!!! couldn't even watch one show.. next morning i have to give myself not one,,but 2 enemas... now debbie.. i look at the illustration on the box on how to preform this task.. no freaking way!MY arms would have to like one of the Incredibles.. so, i improvise and as im hoping to find the "right door" i have visions of summers eve.. so,, that task gets completed and i go to the doctor..
The nurse tells me ahead of time what to expect..warns me that he doesn't say much.. etc. next thing i know YOWZER!! there i am on the screen.. they warn you that you feel like pressure that might need to be released.. well, i got that feeling.. i tell the nurse, she says" let it go!" I said " are you kidding!!The doctor is right in that vicinity! and she tells me"that is why he gets paid the big bucks!! Ha..im glad not all my muscles haven't atrophied as i have aged... also glad thatit is over!
I have also found Americone DReam ice cream is very good,, by who else,, Ben and Jerry,, and i feel that eating alot of it while watching the olympics is my little way of supporting USA!
Only 11 days left till school starts.. rumor is we have alot of kindergardners in the class already.. Mark will be a jr in high school,, has really gotten into working out.. went to another bb camp at u or sf this weekend..
I think patrick is biting at the bit to get back down to san luis obispo, but i love having him home, but understand.. he did go to santa cruz beach the other night and had fun..
so.. lenghty blog.. but i had to share my latest adventure.. if anyone read it sorry if i offened you,, i should just have some kind of clause after all my blogs..
I am always wondering how your doing, and praying for the best.. love to all the teks.. and an early happy birthday to Mikey.. mdf

Hi Debbie: Have been checking every week to see if any new postings and none - so I guess no news is good news. Boy has the summer flew by - took Ali back to Bloomsburg on Tuesday to start her junior year - so all is quiet at our house. Had the whole family over on Sunday to celebrate my birthday and it was a lot of fun. They all bought me a WII and now I am probably going to kill myself with all the activity - but it is fun and everyone has a good time with it.

Hope you have a good Labor Day weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather. Will probably be down Ocean City on Sunday of next week - so maybe we'll run into you. We will be down at 43rd street.

Keep well. Love Shelly Geib

Hi Debbie,

I can't believe the whole summer went by and I only saw you once. I kept a record this year and I actually was at the shore 54 days this summer. I didn't go to the beach everyday though. We bought a boat and keep it at Harbour House Marina in Somers Point. We bought it towards the end of the season but we spent a lot of time on our friends boat. I think more time there then on the beach. It's a nice change of pace.I'll only get to the shore a few more times before I call it quits for the year. Luckily my photography business is booming. I hardly have a day off between now and November. That's the way I like it.
I hope all is well with you. I'm sure it is or else we would be reading so on the blog. I missed seeing your grandchildren this year. They must be getting big. I know mine are. Take care of yourself. Maybe I'll see you in the fall.

Hi Miss Deb,

Just want to send a note letting you know that I keep you and the family in my prayers everyday. The big info is that it is only 5 weeks until I head off to Italy for 11 days. I just recieved a packet with pictures of the villa outside of Florence and the apartments in Rome. 10 of us going and 8 of us all meeting in Philly and fly together. The party begins early. I will make sure to share the pics once I am back. Other big news is that Julia Jourdan is a grandmother again. Her son and daughter in-law adopted another beautiful baby boy. He is so adorable. Her son now has three children, 18, 4, and 2 months. I did get to spend Labor Day weekend in Cape May, too crowded though. I think everyone was either staying or visiting the island this weekend. Love to all,
love, hugs, and prayers,

Patrick went back to san luis obispo early,, and the other day i got a text from him telling me that he and george ( friend/roomate) were going to magic mountain.. well, it was closed, only open on weekends.. so, tim asked if he was trying to get to Wallyworld...ha.. anyways, they stayed with friends at newport beach and irvine..
the next day i got a text" im in san diego" .. just glad at this point that he doesnt have a passport.. next stop was mexico.. hes back at san luis obispo now...
Mark and i have been going to the gym every am at 5:30! He wants to workout ,a nd doesn't have the time after school, so,, we go together.. haven't lost a pound, but feel my fat is a little firmer.

what is a concealer bra? Just curious.

9/14/2008 7:25 PM

..okay,, whoever anomynous is who wants to know what a concealer bra is.. it is a bra that has extra material sewn in the cup part of the bra.so , those old tough nursing nipples will stay quiet in the coldest of weather, if you know what i mean.. although, you do kind of feel like your wearing one of those bathing suit where you can push in the cups and they pop out,, but lets face it.. i am 51 now.. the material that is in the cups looks like a flower .. but you can't see it on the outside of your clothes.. . so, try it out.. tweek, sneeze, be cold.. you can still get away with a thin material top with confidence!!! mdf

If you're out there- whenever I try to email you it comes back that your email is not working. After the walk on Saturday, PJ Whelihans (they are also catering the LTN WALK) is having a percentage off for walkers on bar/food bill. I believe it's from 8-10pm. I'm asking my parents to babysit Matthew after the walk so we can all go out for drinks. Just wanted to let you know, you or who ever wanted to join!

There is a great tool Digeus I recommend to use it when there are problems with windows. I also use Windows Tune Up Suite. It has Regisry Cleaner, Junk Files Cleaner, Registry Defragmenter, Duplicate Files Finder, Disk Space Analyzer, Smart Uninstaller, Service Manager, Startup Manager and many other tools.
