HUP-timation

Dear Fods,

Debbie had her 9:45 AM appointment with Dr. Chiu this morning at the Radnor Penn Campus. Our first time there was an easy drive on a beautiful spring day. We both commented on how nice it was there walking throught the parking lot. That was the best of it.

The packing came out fairly easily -- from a bystanders viewpoint -- and then Debbie started to bleed. Dr. Chiou was concerned that her platelets were too low and that she was not clotting properly. The more he suctioned the more she bled. We waited and went through a few boxes of tissues. Then Dr. Chiou put in some dissoluble packing to stop the bleeding. He was concerned that Debbie would not come around.

After 45 minutes, Dr. Chiu decided that we needed to go to Penn for platelets to help Debbie clot and stop bleeding. We called ahead to alert Dr. Porter's office and Maria took care of placing the orders with the Lab. While there was some minor debate about whether Debbie would travel by ambulance or our car, we left and headed for Penn in the car.

Guess what?? Penn's graduation is today! While we made decent time getting to South Street, it took thirty minutes to get up the off ramp, while Debbie is bleeding in the car.

We arrive at Penn and get to the Lab -- but orders have not been placed yet, and the lab has a new computer system today. Labs and Orders entered at 12:15, platelets arrive at 2:30! Still no Lab results. Take the platelets anyway and now need to see Chiu's partner Dr. Welch before we can go home. Platelets are done and we walk across at 3:00 PM.

While in the office with Welch, lab results come in -- WBC 6.8 and platelets 189K -- great counts. Deb did not need the platelets or the 4 hour wait with the Lab girls. (But you could not wait with a better crew!) Heather came to visit and got things moving as she always does. But was a precautionary waste of time.

In Welch's office, they go back into Debbie's nose and take everything out, the blood, the clots and the packing that Dr. Chiu put in and refill Debbie with the dissoluble packing. We then have to take a 10 minute walk around the place and walk up and down some stairs to make sure that Debbie doesn't blow a gasket on the ride home. The packing seems to hold up and we head home.

We make it through the Penn Graduation gauntlet and on the way home. We are cruising until past Mid-County -- and guess what? Major accident and the road is closed -- a turnpike mind you! It takes 1 hour to go what should take 10 minutes. The Chinese we ordered is with the collection agency by now -- but they did reheat it for us when we called and explained the problem.

Debbie seems to be doing much better now -- she had a hot bath and drained the hot water heater! Had some Chinese and is watching Dancing with the Stars.

Hell of a day.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Debbie, Debbie, Debbie... what a day and Joe you are a true angel. So glad that all went well today and that you are safely tucked into bed a home.
How about the Dancing with the Stars finalists.... who is your pick. I think Kristy Y will win... I wouldn't mind any of the three, they all have such great character and not bad dancers either.
Love, Patty

Deb and Joe:

Trying to get the prize of being the first to say "Hey"!

What a day you and Joe had! Though I love visiting up East, I never get the whole need for being in all that congestion. I guess the access to great healthcare would be a plus in this case.

Life here on Green Acres...we complain when a light stays red too long.

So sorry you had so much trouble today. And then your counts were good. Who would have thought that to be the case? The good news is that you are this far along with the sinus cleaning process and much of your fears are behind you as far as the packing material and the breathing. Those Jessie mentioned on AIM that it makes it difficult to talk. Now that is just unfair...

News from Missouri...School is offically out for all three kiddos. Mere started a part-time job 7-12 every week day. Colin is full-time back at his job from last summer and Bee is still home til the first of June when he will work part-time for a physical therapy place here in town. I think I am repeating myself. We are headed to Nashville on Saturday for my College buddies daughter's high school graduation. We'll just stay til Monday.

Other than that all is well. Dangit...Mere just told me I wasn't first to post.

Love to you and a big hug for Joe...he is our hero! :)

Have been babysitting since 3pm and Meg is here now and going to spend the night(she and Matt had Baptismal class tonight....guess you need to know which way to hold the baby so he won't get water up his nose!!!!.......Just kidding!!).

Anywho, I'll give you a call tomorrow. Love you, Mo

Hi,
Entertining story. Much better then the book I was reading on the plane to Las Vegas. Your stories never have a predictable ending. I'm glad everything seems to be ok.I hope this is the end to your drama for a long while. I'm glad to be back on the east coast. I didn't give Las Vegas all of my money but I left enough there.
We were suppossed to go to OC today but as it turns out we have to go to a party next door. It will be fun. I hope you have a nice weekend.

Hi Debbie,
Haven't posted because my computer decided to take a vacation. Took it to a great place EZ-PC and the woman there found out the part it needed was still under warranty and got it and fixed it so now I'm back.
What a hell of a day you had. Hope things are going better and you are able to enjoy this wonderful weather. Gettin' your usual summer color? I am so pale it looks like I'm wearing white stockings! Can't wait for summer to relax in the yard and read, read, read. And maybe plant some flowers. Some time when you are up to it Eileen can pick you up and bring you by for a visit.
We had a dress down day for the American Cancer Society and I "lit a candle" in honor of you. Yep, again this year there is YOUR name on Log College's bulletin board under the survivors. Hope to make it an annual thing forever.
Just got back from a retirement dinner and yet again my name wasn't on the list. A few more years.......
Think of you everyday.
Love, hugs and kisses,
Beth

Was worried that patrick was stressing over a class ( human genetics,,its pretty hard) until i found out he spend friday night down at uc santa barbara in the soriety ( his roomates sister is in the soriety.. ) and let me tell you,, he sent a picture of some of the girls.... wow, not only beautiful in their little flourescent green shorts and itzy bitzy bikini tops.. but huge contenders to become HOOTER girls if college doesn' work out for them... yes.. he had a good time!
I have been busy watching the womens softball playoffs.. dont know if its because of my haircut or my love of sports...but it has been fun to watch..

I'm really getting a complex that i scare everyone away, or is everyone just really busy right now?
How are you deb? havent heard anything since you went to get unpacked... hope things are going well..
We have been on vacation for one week, and in that week, our house has been tp'd 3x.. the last time was a charm.. took mark and i 3 1/2 hrs to clean it all up.. figured it was kids from the baseball team by the height of the rolls.. we've had one testosterone fight (mark and another kid from his team... mark was joking around, apparently the other kid wasn't.. ended quickly)..so..i think its fair to say that this might be a long summer at this rate..
Patrick just finished his first year in college!!! yeah..he will be home on sunday..fathers day.,for a few days , then back for summer school... Mark leaves for arizona for jr.olympic baseball tournament.. so, it will just be tim and i...weird..
so that is my updat.. i continue to pray for good health and strength for you.. hope the rest of your gang is doing well...love ,mdf

Dear Debbie,
Just stopping by to let you know I'm thinking of you and hoping you are doing well. I have 3 cousins visiting from Ireland at the moment so we are having a wonderful time. They particularly loved the Amish community of Lancaster county.... we're going to spend a couple of days in DC.
Lots of love, Visitor Alison.

an interesting fact about Amish and how things have changed in recent years... they have fridges as the use propane / wind or solar power.. once they have no lines connected to the outside world going into their house (cell phones are fine for business!!!).. but perhaps the best for me was after an hour lesson on how the men and women and children dress including the painstaking pinning of dresses the women must do... it turns out there are no rules about underwear.. so the ladies are often see shopping at Victoria Secrets!!!! you go girls.. I'll never look at an Amish woman quite the same way again!.... lol.... Visitor Alison

Hi Deb,
Well, my vactioning time is almost here. Finally! It's a long time coming this year. I'm looking forwarding to sitting my fat backside on the beach. I just had a huge pigroast for scott's graduation. I'm swearing off entertaining large crowds for a year. I'm beat! Of course if AJ gets engaged that deal will be off.

Hey Allison- thanks for the amish facts. I love to hear about them.
Victoria secret? Funny. The best thing I ever saw was a young amish boy on rollar blades hanging on the back of a buggy and me without my camera!

Wait Allison, ,, you mean no button holes on their dresses, now no crotches on their underware? Im visualizing... kind of scary,, but good for them..
Deb..how are you? I sure hope no news is good news! Been kind of a whirlwind here.. Patrick got home on fathers day.. so nice to have both the boys home.. but between him going out, friends coming over, text messaging, and commercials ..we really don't get too much time to visit, but i do love the time i get.. He goes back on sat for summer school for 5 weeks, then home till mid sept...
Getting Mark ready for his baseball tournament in arizona.. its suppose to be around 110 degrees while there. makes being a catcher even warmer with all that gear on..
Not too much else to report.. just wondering all the time how you're doing...and continuing the prayers.. mdf
