November Already !!!!!

Hello Dear and wonderful friends,
Hope this finds all of you well and healthy and keeping busy. We are all fine. Michael had his ACL repair of his knee done yesterday at Grandview Hosp. He did really well. they did a femerol block and he has been pain free so far. I know that won't lastbut it got him through the nite. Joe will pick him up early afternoon as they like to do a PT session before discharge. Joe has had it with Hospitals. He was there yesterday from 11:00am till 7pm. I couldn't go because my white count dropped down to 3.0 and i'm back on house arrest, except for my walks in the cul de sac. PT is still coming to the house but i'm pretty limited with exercise because my back is still acting up and with a reduced Hgb.i get SOB and then we stop. So progress continues to be slow. Last Friday we spent the day at Penn. The clinic for 2 hrs. and then 3 hrs. in the GYN clinic. Suffice it to say it was not a good experience. We got home around 4:30 and i went to bed. Woke up at 2:00 am with a fever and chills.101.8. YIKES !!!!I really paniced. Drs. orders are to get to the hosp. if your temp is ever above 100.5. Well i decided to wait till the am but i was awake all nite . By the AM the fever was gone and i just felt wased out,. Inever called because i knew they would want me down there and i'd spend 12hrs. or more in the ER and i just couldn't go back. So thankfully the fever never returned and i took it really easy and i'm ok. More blood work tomorrow and if my white count is down i will probably have to go down on Friday for a BMB. Would someone PLEASE transport to an island somewhere ? I'm not picky, just someplace without needles and Drs.
Now to you guys. Betty , the christening sounds like fun and there should always be baked ziti at family events because of the kids and vegans. So glad you are enjoying the baby......Donna C. I hope this new adoption agency will be able to help ou guys. I pray for you every day. Thank you and you parents for all the cards, and Wyatt too....Visitor Alison, what a coincidence with the Dixie cups. Two of my uncles worked for them and when we visited there was always a huge variety of cups. Remember this was over 40 years aga and paper products were expensive. We didn't have them at our house, so it was always a treat to go to the cousins and see what new patterns they had..It's neat your son is looking into Penn State. Great School. My son loved every minute there......MDF, i'm jealous that the boys got to go to a ND game. We had such a blast during our time there. Sounds like they got the whole ND experience too. Hows the puppy doin?.....COD Eileen, does your life ever slow down for a minute? Abig hug to all the Chalks and Aunt Angie. I will keep 7-7-07 open for a visit. (God willing) for your huge celebration....Beth, you sound really busy too. Sounds like you are having a good time...
Well lots of love to all of you.. THANK YOU for all the cards i continue to receive. When i get down which can still happen pretty frequently, thoughts of you remind me i'm not alone in this. The prayers really help...I love you all !!!!
Debbie

DEb,, good to hear from you again! Sorry about the drop in wbc,and the fevers.. but glad you hung in there and didn't have to go back to the hospital..
First the puppy.. well, to give you an idea..yesterday when i came home from work,,he had found and eaten a box of poppycock( resses's peanut butter type) a family bag of cheese chex mix, and half a loaf of sourdough bread.. so besides it being strewn all over my once white carpet.. he's fine..uhm hum..
My boys did indeed have a great time at notre dame.. loved it all, from the eating halls to the tour, pep rally, mass with the players, to the game.. what a great experience..
They got home on my 50th birthday(joe's bday also..happy bday to joey) anyway, this is where it gets sort of interesting.. that night, patrick and mark started to talk about notre dame.. the discussion started to get heated(tim was asleep by now)so,just as i got up to take mark out of the room.. Wham!! I got hit by a little remote control that just happened to be next to patrick's hand, that he was going to throw at mark..i got in the middle of it.. to make a long story shorter,, i now have a broken nose, 2 black eyes. and 2 very ashamed, embarrassed sons!!! It's not very attractive, and it will be a bday i'll remember..... . anyway..this will eventually fade(to green and yellow..etc)
So, i hope you are getting some what stronger.. darn that unidentified back pain!

Hey, Deb - it's good you don't have to go out today. Nice day to stay inside and SLEEP. Get those counts back up. I'm stepping up the prayers a notch again. So glad the fever turned out to be nothing. Hopefully the drop in wbc will turn out to be a fluke also.

I head out to Ca. to see Kate on Fri. for 5 days. We're both excited.

Happy (!?!) birthday, May Day. Wow! Hope you took pictures. they'll come in handy for bribes down the road. (Guilt is a powerful motivator). I have 4 words for you: greater swiss mountain dog. Oh, yeah, one more: crate. Keep a diary. The stories will be even funnier in a couple of years.

Mike and Joe, prayers for both of you also. Love, Mussie

Debbie:

Just sat down at my desk at work and saw your picture with you and those babies on the beach. Had to check in and saw a new post. Yippee for me.

You really sound like you are making improvement. I can hear it in your voice. Tears welled up in my eyes at the thought of you being here to celebrate Mere's graduation party. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for that!

Mike will recover rapidly I am sure. I hope he is eating more than chicken and broccoli these days.

As for the Dixie Cups....My girlfriend sent me an article that they are making very nice condos at the Dixie Cup plant site in Easton. Seems you crazy East Coast folks don't mind a two hour commute to NYC. I love the Midwest!

Lots of love and continued progress! COD Eileen ;)

Hey Debbie,
Sounds like you are doing a lot better. Glad your son made it through his procedure ok. I don't blame Joe for being sick of hospitals. For some reason they just tire you out. Of course I'm sorry to here you're on house arrest again. I'm sure it's just temporary. I'm with you about it being November already. I didn't realize that Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. I'm having it at my house so I better start planning the meal. I look forward to your next post.
Take care,
Betty

Yippee!

Glad to see you back in the blogging saddle, Chiz!

Whoa, that fever deal must have scared the liver out of you. So glad it seems to have passed without incident and that you are still hanging tough. Hope that today will be better than yesterday and twice as good as the day before. It looks like a nice one so hopefully you'll be able to hit the cul de sac for some fresh air!

Not much going on here. You know that Mr Hal is traveling and we have another open house this weekend that I should be getting ready for. Operative word: should Can't seem to get away from the computer, though. I've got a monkey on my back and it's name is Sony Vaio.

Glad to hear that Mikey made it through his surgery okay and is doing well. Tell Joe he should paint a red cross on the side of that Avalon he is making so many trips to the hospital! (ALWAYS happy to help out there when you need, honey. Just give me a call!)

Well, guess I better go get busy.

Love to all the Teklits, especially you, my Chizzie!

Hi Debbie:
Sounds like you have more on your plate now than ever. Whenever I feel down and out because of everything going on - I just think of you and think it is not that bad - You have such a great outlook - I wish I could be that way. I thought when all the kids were out of the house things would slow down, but they don't - between my homework from Gwynedd and work and the house, there is simply no time - but I don't think I should complain. Glad Mike's knew went okay - at least you have company at home when he gets home - Keep that spirit going that is 98% of the cure. Think of you a lot. Love Shelly

Debbie,
Finally! An entry!
I know I could call but you know I am phobic about phones. I want to see your face.
You sound pretty good except for that fever thing - that must have been a little scary. It's great that you are walking. For a second I didn't know what you meant by SOB. But then the medical side of my brain kicked in and I realized it meant short of breath. What a goober I am!
Well, Richard and I are meeting at Whole Foods for dinner. That's right - we're eating there tonite. They have some special Thanksgiving tasting event and that's where we're having dinner - for FREE!
I love you and miss you so much. I'll force myself to call soon. It's not you - it's ME!
BIG HUG and KISS

Dear Debbie,
It is so good to hear from you and know that you continue to "kick butt" I am so proud of you and can not imagine how you find your daily strength under than knowing we are all rooting for you!

Dixie cups and more.. it continues to amaze me the connections I see with my life and the FODs... I look forward to meeting everyone on Valentine's Day. I've already pencilled it in so lets everyone plan do "share love" that day with Debbie & FODs et al.... and sure it's only a month before Paddy's day so we can rehearse those celebrations!

Rick, I most definetly would love to tour Penn with my son so next year I will take you up on that offer.

Debbie, keep taking each day one step at a time, for each step is a step away from the ugliness you have been through.

Saying prayers for you often. My pennies from heaven are literally dropping at my feet again these days so I know we're surrounded by lots of great spirits holding us up and guiding us through this difficult year.

God bless, lots of love, visitor alison

Debbie & Joe,
We've changed our Internet provider since we last chattted, & as per Bob, one of the family tech experts, it "went without a hitch". We were fortunate to have the company of Shane for 2 short days last week, & he knows how to get us "on to a new track" with his being constantly busy. We're hoping that Mike is doing fine & that he'll be back to normal soon. Hopefully you & Joe took the time to see ND romp over the Cadets from the Air Force Academy. One more win over USC would put the Irish into a nice BCS Bowl game again this year. We hope that your recovery is doing well also & that the Hgb is back to where it ought to be, & in particular that your back ache finally goes away for good. Mom said that she remembers her back aches & that they seem to last forever. Hope that all goes well so that you & the family can enjoy a great Thanksgiving. Love, Mom & Dad.

Hi Debbie,
Being home is comforting, and perhaps you don't need as many cyber space visitors as before but you do need to know we are all here for you every day...

so with talk starting of Christmas shopping (are these people nuts, Aunt Angie and COD Eileen please don't take personal offense! lol).. but what is it about America that as soon as one holiday is over (Halloween) we have to buy the Turkey for TG and freeze it, now that's taken care of lets shop for Christmas.. lol...

Oh my goodness (better than me cruising Irish style)... Debbie, don't worry about a dam thing cause we are skipping right to Valentine's Day.. I'm already making heart shapped candy !!! lol.

Boy it is a funny thing to be Irish born American sworn (citizen) and Dublin (doubling) proud of both...! I LOVE the fact that the American culture does so much around all the biggie holiday celebrations (like decorate houses) but I also love the way the Irish just let them happen.. so I'm somewhere in-between....

Who's coming to my house for Christmas party?!

Debbie, can't stop thinking of you all the time, so glad you are home, out of HUP, and surviving.. that is what we all strife for SURVIVAL...

lots of love, god bless, visitor alison.

Hey Chiz (and fellow FODs)

A beautiful day here today and I'm thinking of you Chizzie. Are you doing laps around the cul de sac? Hope so, sweetie. I know you've been really working on getting stronger and stronger.

Laughing about Visitor Allison's holiday observations. It's true, Allison. Call me an old humbug too, but I hate how all the Christmas hoopla starts right after Halloween. And it seems to get worse every year. (I sound like such an old fart saying that - hah!)

I'm still trying to get my head around THANKSGIVING here and am really looking forward to a close encounter with some pumpkin pie...

I sure feel like we have a lot to be thankful for this year...
especially Chizzie's being home and doing better and better everyday.

Gobble-gobble. BTW-the wild turkeys are back...

Love ya Chiz - look forward to seeing you soon. K

Dear Deb:

You can see that everyone lives on hearing from you. The interactions have slowed anticipating your next report. I am sure we will hear from you around Thanksgiving.

For V.A., you have to shop with Aunt Angie when you can. She likes to get her gifts out of the way. We didn't get much done.

Deb...we will be at Doug and Betsy's...our neighbor's for Turkey Day. It's an annual event.

Spoke with both of your male cousins, Mickey and Ricky yesterday. They are doing well. Send their love.

Take care and looking for a post in the next few days.

Today we are going to the FOX (St. Louis Live Theater) to see "Spamalot". For all you Monty Python fans. We can't wait. Brendan is a huge fan of the Monty Python mentality. Go figure. We have heard nothing but great things about this production.

Until later...Love ya COD Eileen
