Home Again !!

Dear Fods,

HUP released me today around 1:30 and am I ever glad to be home! After Joe left yesterday afternoon, they cooked some dinner and the boys brought me down a plate of food, most of which I could eat. I just cannot stomach the HUP food any longer. As soon as the smell of the food gets into the room -- I just about get sick. But home cooked food is a different story.

I slept well again last night at HUP (good drugs!) and they tended not to bother me as much as on previous stays. They ran in all of the antibiotics I needed and gave me a script for a heavy duty oral antibiotic which I will take for the next week. Hopefully, whatever caused this infection has been nipped in the bud and it won't come back any time soon.

Joe picked me up and we were able to stop and Bertucci's for a late lunch of pasta, I took a nice bath, clean PJ's and into my own bed. It felt just great! I will turn in early tonight and hopefully I will start to get back to normal in the next few days in time for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone -- we hope you have a wonderful holiday.

I love you all.

Debbie

Hi Debbie,
So glad you are home again. I think of you often during the day--everyday. And everyone asks about you. Glad your home!!
My brother's family, Kelly Aaron and Macy will be coming to our house for Thanksgiving--about 15 of us altogether.
Wishing you the best Thanksgiving ever---say hello to Pammie for me (if she still remembers me--it's been like 29 years since I seen her) We had fun when she visited SB.
Hope you feel better everyday---and again Happy Thanksgiving...fill up on a good meal.

Hi Debbie:
So glad you are home again. I hadn't had time to check the blog for the last couple of days, and was surprised you were back in the hospital, but I am glad you are home again and started to get your strength up again. Enjoy Thanksgiving with the family and keep up the good work. Prayers and thoughts are with you daily. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Love Shelly

Debbie-
Sorry to hear you got an infection, but that line lasted a very long time! I'm glad your appetite is coming back, especially with Thanksgiving around the corner. I know you will have a wonderful time with Jess, Walid, and the kids. I love those kids so much (and I think Christian has a crush on me!) We are also gearing up for some festivities here. My birthday is tomorrow and Drew has planned a nice birthday party for me and then I get to wake up early (and hungover I'm sure) to drive to my grandmother's down near Virginia Tech to celebrate Thanksgiving and her 80th birthday. It's a surprise so it should be fun. All the grandkids and great-grandkids are going to be there. I hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving! God Bless!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Deb! I hope you can eat some turkey and pie! (Oh, how I love pie. I think I could skip the dinner and just have pie -- apple or pumpkin are my favorites for Thanksgiving.) I've been busy this November. Lar and I went to NYC to see my sister's latest art exhibit. She is a member of a cooperative gallery. About every two years, she has a show. This show is selling quite well. I'm so happy for her. Then, last week I was on my way to a conference in Breckenridge with three of my coworkers, and we were stuck in the little town of Georgetown on I70. Due to blizzard conditions, I70 was closed for about 8 hours! And it was a white out like I've never seen. But I now can give a pretty good narration on the history of Georgetown because we were lucky enough to get seats in the theater room of the Georgetown visitor's center, and the history played about every 20 minutes or so. Thank God my coworker, Starr, had some cards or we would have gone totally crazy! Anyway, we made it to the conference, and it was a skier's paradise. They had about 18 inches of fresh powder from that storm. Our hotel was right at the bottom of one of the lifts. The day we came back it was 70 degrees in Loveland!
Anyway, I'm glad you're home. Hope you are feeling better and better. Love you lots, Marianne

Wow! What did they give you at HUP! You sound fabulous!

And for that I am truly thankful!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Teklits and Khouri's (sp..never know if I am getting that one right)

All our love, COD Eileen and family

PS...I neglected to mention that on this last day of deer season, Colin got his first deer. He is beside himself. A doe but it is a start. The two "deer virgins" are out taking care of it before taking it for it's check-in. It's a sight! :}

We're so glad to hear that you are feeling better. Our prayers don't stop for your healthy blood, strong bone marrow, and God's strength to sustain you and your family while you heal. Hello, Deb!
I think about you constantly.
This weekend brings to mind many memories beginning three years ago...
As you might have suspected, these last few days have been buzzing here with all of the boys home for Thanksgiving, as well as Mia and Elyse around for as much time as they can endure with their "Nan".
A Full House in much tighter quarters.
Hope you are feeling a little stronger. No doubt Thanksgiving brought another nice gathering of friends and family to your side. Keep up that appetite for good food, and cravings for family and those adorable grandbabies. Love to you.

Hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Twas the night after Thanksgiving

I just couldn't sleep,

I tried counting backwards,

I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned -

the dark meat and white,

but I fought the temptations

with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation,

the thought of a snack was infatuation.

So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,

and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,

pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,

"til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling,

floating into the sky,

with a mouthful of pudding

and handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell

as I soared past the trees...

Happy eating to all -

pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty,

may your turkey be plump,

may your 'tater 'n gravy have narry a lump.

May your yams be delicious,

may your pies take the prize,

may your holiday dinner stay off of your thighs.

oops posted before I knew it.. the last post is a cut & paste of mine (from my American Mom-in-law) I wish I could claim I wrote that one.. so apt....

Dearest Debbie,
As you know this year has been a tough one for our families, but still this Thanksgiving was beautiful.. I hope the same is true for you and yours and all the FODs.. I know for sure none of "my people" were on the May flower (they didn't have stirrage, and even back then hand-picked servants ABOVE Irish calibur!! lol).. but I sure know myself and many generations before me are thankful for our American friends & family this Thanksgiving...
Hope you were well enough to enjoy your company... ...I'm sure you had a blast...

lots of love to Debbie.. et al...

Hi Debbie,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family!!! I hope that with each day you are feeling stronger and stronger. So
sorry to hear that you were in the
hospital for a couple of days.I had Thanksgiving at my house this year for 25 people. Well mom helped with all the cooking. She was there all day on Wednesday helping prepare all the food and even came bright and early on Thanksgiving morning to stuff the turkey.(You would think I would know how to do this at my age...but
Mom always has Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was there at 7:00 AM to put the 31 pound turkey in
the oven. I am so blessed to have
such a wonderful mother!! Chuck told me to take notes so I could learn how to do it all next year!!
Well we did have a great Thanksgiving with my family and the
food was yummy thanks to of course
Mom!!! Chuck and Wyatt went down the shore yesterday for a couple of days. It is just beautiful with these warm days we are having.
Well I always look forward to your
posting! Take care!

Love,
Donna, Chuck and Wyatt(Mom and Dad too)
