Stillllllllllll Waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Fod's,
Hi everyone. Again more high fevers and rigors -- upward to 104. Now new abdominal pain and bloating. Making many trips to the bathroom with loose bowels and leaving the bathroom feeling like I am never done. Very uncomfortable. Still not able to eat so the TPN continues to run. This means my sugar levels are elevated and I am getting insulin to control it every 6 hours.
WBC fell back to <0.1 again today and an ANC of 0 but Dr. Tsai was giving me encouragement because the preliminary bone marrow results showed immature new cells which are now being formed because of all of the neupogen and other growth stimulating meds. While there is an outside change that this means more leukemia, I don't believe that to be the case because I was too good coming into the hospital. He said that the BMB people need more time to study the results before we get a final ruling.
Blood cultures continue to show gram negative rods and the most likely source is the gut -- which is bloated and painful -- so yes, that is my vote too. They are scheduling a CAT scan of my abdomen for tonight in order to help to identify the source of the infection. Still have a sore throat but am able to swallow liquids. Solid food is not yet on the radar screen. Too tired to answer blogs tonight and am going to lay down now.
Thank you for all of the love and support.
I love you all very much.
Debbie

I was checking and hoping for some happy news. I'm so sorry to hear that things are so terrible again. Thank you for continuing to blog and keep us all updated. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'll keep checking back for some good news...I'm sure it's just around the corner!
Lisa
Love you too, Deb. Keep fighting.
Oh honey, so glad to hear that you are starting to be able to get some liquids down - that is total good news.
Also excellent is Dr. Tsai's news about the "immature new cells" getting a jump start from the neupogen, etc. Buy that man a Cosmo! I remember how terrific you were prior to your admission too. You were rocking! And that has to count for something in the grand scheme of things for sure.
Have been a little hectic here - I guess I am picking up your plumbing emergency vibes, Debbie. Had the plumbers and the industrial cleaners out today trying to clean up a plumbing mess in my basement -long story and still evolving... ai-yi-yi.
Please know that I am sending up prayers for the BMB lab folks, asking for the good Lord to give them keen eyesight and laser focus to guide their efforts in studying your results.
And I'm wondering who will be going with you tonight when you go out 'CAT-ting' around. Prayers being sent to guide your way and smooth your journey. Look for no waiting service, compassionate techs and scans that are crystal clear and accurate.
I hope you'll feel all our prayers tonight, honey. You may feel like crap right now but you are AWESOME and you have the right stuff to get you through this. Step by step, one after another, all you have to do is make it to the door. Strong heart, dear one. Your loyal FOD's are with you.
I love you honey - K
Thanks Joe, for giving us the lowdown. We all appreciate it so much.
I like that encouragement from Dr Tsai.
You know the saying... all good things come in small packages!
Rest and get well.
Love,
Donna T.B.'s
Debbie & Joe,
We are sad that the fevers & rigors continue, & do hope that some improvement occurs shortly. Dr. Porter was right again when he said that the wbc may drop; but Dr. Tsai's comments on the bone marrow results were encouraging. The BMB analyists aren't too speedy but perhaps that is due to their being very cautious in their assessment at this stage in the engraftment process. Joe may get a "kick out of" JoPa's weekly press conference of the ND-PSU game that can be read on the www.goPSU.com web site. He gave kudos to the ND team & coaches, but was overall pleased with his squad's progress at this early point in the season. We hope that you have a good rest tonight & feel much better tomorrow. Love, Mom & Dad
I'm glad at least that you can keep some fluids down and that Dr. Tsai's encouraging news. Alex is here with me now and he says hi and that he hopes that you feel better soon. He's such a doll.
Get a good night's rest Deb and keep fighting. We're all praying for you.
Love,
Jeanne

Hi, Deb, It's Lee.
Whatever fuels your motivation to keep going, keep the wells full. If it's friends, we're all still with you. If it's love , your tank overflows. If it's faith in God, He is with you. If it's family, you have the greatest. And if it's cosmos, the pitcher awaits. Mostly, we wish we could divide the suffering. We love, love love you. Lee-Lee
Hey Debbie....Hang in there we are all thinking about you! Love Meredith
DITTO what Lee Lee said, hoping for a calm belly ,no fevers or rigors, and no more sore throats,..its so great that you can keep some liquids down..and even better that Dr.Tsai's news about the new cells getting a jump start seems very promising....I know it all seems slow going but all in all it's turning around slowly but surely...braveheart,strong heart, stay focused on only the positive ,...you can do it,you can do it!!!..WE all wish we could do it for you...but honestly I'm not sure one of us has the right stuff...We love you dear one, rest smile through it all, hugs and kisses :)Bev

Dear Deb, I'm so happy that you have Dr. TSai, you know how my family feels about him. I know things will turn around soon. Hang in there, easier said than done. My whole family is praying for you, after all you are part of my family! I'm going to ask Gina to send you some pictures of Milana, she has a lot of cute ones from avalon and her birthday party. Donna Godshall had her surgery yesterday and did very well. I'll keep you posted. I wish that I could do something to make you feel better! We all love you very much. Love, Mary
Dear Debbie,
Today's a good day, just found a penny from heaven that was shining and bright the year 2006, just as I was fixing to say goodbye to my crew of visitors... I smiled at it's shiney glow and just now.. that today is the day those little buggers will make their grand entrance...
"Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do,
think the white cells come along,
this VERY day...."
Lots of love, Visior Alison
