College Football!!!

Dear Fod's,

Debbie is excited today because PSU and ND are playing football. So she broke down and we will pay the $8.00 per day for the TV, except for the fact that it does not have ESPN - so too bad for PSU (ESPN), but hurray for ND (ABC). She also wanted to see Katie Couric make her debut on the nightly news.

Deb is not feeling well today and that is why she is not answering the phone. Her sore throat is worsening and they had to switch some of her PO pills to IV because she cannot swallow them. They are threatening to start TPN (Total Parenteral Nuitrition) tomorrow which is an IV loaded with vitamins and minerals. It is also 50% dextrosed which can be a feeding frenzy for bacteria. Which worries us about the possibility of infection. So Debbie is trying to eat high protein soft foods -- but she is having a difficult time even getting water down. Not a happy camper today!

The doctors feel that this mucousitis will improve as soon as the WBC's arrive. This is day 16 of no ANC. So she thanks you for the phone calls but she is sorry that she is not answering the phone, but it is painful for her to talk right now. The pain pump continues and helps Debbie to stay relaxed, but it is not helping the sore throat. The doctors want her to increase the dosage, but Debbie thinks it is more important to be able to get out of bed and move around so that she does not get pneumonia again.

Thank you for the WBC chants -- keep them up and hopefully it will arrive soon. You are such a talented group of writers, it really helps her to be able to read your comments.

Sorry to be short, but Debbie is getting tired and since it is only one week since the muzzling, I am not taking any liberties.

Deb sends her love all.

Hey Deb and Joe:

Just back from the Borgia Freshman football game. It was a beautiful Saturday and we decided to take in more football with no participants of our own.

Good thing...as one of the players on the other team dislocated his shoulder...Dave waited patiently as the Athletic trainer went to the players aid but he got up as he saw him holding his arm in a precarious manner. As he rounded the track for the other side...the AT...looked across the field for Dave and was relieved that he was already coming to the rescue. His theory...see them now...or see them later.

We are enjoying a day of catching up at home. Tomorrow we will head to our neighbors for the annual Labor Day cookout. This year as is every other year we are celebrating 3 birthdays. Three of the friends all have birthdays in a weeks time. Tomorrow is actually Arnie's 60th. So his wife made t-shirts with his picture (him dressed up smokin' a cigar) and red lettering saying..."Still Sexy at 60". Darling. She even had one made for Aunt Angie.

Still chanting and praying for the WBC's to make an appearance. Your poor body needs a break.

Brendan will no doubt be tuning into the Penn State game. I am sure we will also watch the Domers as well.

We'll be thinking of you while we are all tuned into our TV's....

Is tonight Katie Couric's debut? I don't follow much of that.

Enjoy the game and the news.

Talk to you later.....I am going to be the first blogger...YIPPEE

Love Ya....COD Eileen

Yo Chizzie and suzanne!

Glad to see that there are some other old cheerleaders on the squad here! where's mdf???? Jessie???? Joey the Chippendale dancer?

The rest of you FOD/COD/ROD's?

All righty girls and boys...hit it.

"What do we want???
W-B-C's!
When do we want 'em???
NOW!!!

FOD/COD/ROD's: I'm told that our very own Jessie has a cheerleading routine from 8th grade to the song, "Beat it" by Michael Jackson.

Jess - I think you are going to have to teach that routine to all us FOD/COD/ROD's for the Cosmo Cruise to Ireland...on the QE2 maybe?

Chizzie- I hope you are feeling stronger and better. Here's the Mother Theresa prayer for you tonight:

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen.

Use the pain pump, Use the pain pump, Use the pain pump...my chant for YOU...I wish I could use the pain pump, this weather is killing me...I can barely get up the stairs....enough rain already...Debbie if you use the pump more can't you do incentive spirometry for your lungs ...I was in bed for days and days and used incentive every half hour...of course there is no comparison I realize but at least it would be an extra to help with the lungs...OR are you already doing this ???Dugh...I keep trying to think of things that may help and I'm sure you've thought of everything already....I was babysitting Mackenzie today with Jen..neither of are supposed to be lifting her ,so its the lame leading the pregnant(Dan tripped at work yesterday and tore something in his bad knee,so he and Mich spent the day at Paoli E.R. getting looked at)We had Mac at the King of Prussia mall...she is such a hoot..everyone stops to look at her and comment on her "faces"...she throws kisses at everyone( she looks like a fish, sucking her cheeks in) then she does what I call the moofasa face ..that is, she crinkles up her nose and puckers her lips, then she does "motorboat" on cue, this is blowing air through her lips ( I call it motorboat,Jen calls it farting) ...we call her "good girl" and she claps like crazy for herself...and lastly she claps both hands aside her head when I say ,"Oh my goodness" ..Jen says she looks like she's slapping herself silly..it's all so funny,we can't stop laughing at her ,meanwhile she just thinks she's a riot!! I guess this is just regular Gramzie and Auntie,"Our baby can do no wrong and is soooo cute", stuff..but it is such fun...I know you miss Emma and Christian,do you get to talk to them on the phone?? I 'm sure Jess sends you a ton of pictures. Debbie, I pray fervently that your sore throat will just go away..also while Mac napped on my chest ,I did a special intention prayer that I will send you ..I do it daily and I believe that the Blessed Mother will intervene and come to your rescue..if you ask her to.(what mother wouldn't?) Love you girl, stay strong, stay fiesty, use the pump, and breath..XX OO:)Bev

Amen. That is such a beautiful prayer, Kris. I've read it before, but didn't know it was Mother Theresas'. Deb, I had a feeling you weren't feeling well. Hang in there. I know your counts are going to come up soon. Use the pain pump as you see fit...so far your gut instincts have served you so well.

I would love to give a cheer, but I'm an old cheerleader basher...probably sour grapes since I loved the uniforms our HS girls wore, but I never had the guts to try out...and I was much thinner way back when. So I'll let Suzanne lead us all. I can just picture her back in HS...I bet she was the squad captain!! I would've hated her(jk Suzanne...I love you now).

I'm so sorry you don't feel well, honey. But we are all pulling for you. I know you're gonna feel better any day now. Please don't get discouraged. You will triumph!!
And than we are going to have one hell of a celebration. BTW, I forgot to write to Janet the other day. I believe she wrote something like...forget about cosmos and cruises...Excuse me!!!! To quote John MacEnroe...You cannot be serious!!! I understand you were referring to the grandbabies at the time, but still and all...there will be plenty of time for both.
So Miss Debbie, you take care. We're praying and cheering our hearts out.
Love you so, Mo

I had to write a PS to say that I was writing my blog at the same time as Bev was and didn't see hers until I published mine....I just didn't want Bev to think I wrote my comment about the pain pump after reading hers. Yikes, do I sound paranoid or what? I just don't want to get into blog trouble. Hope all you Fods are staying dry, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Deb, I agree with the gang use the pump! My Mom was the same way she was afraid of being on the pain meds but needed them. Carter out of the blue tonight asked how you were doing on our trip back from Lowes ( to sit on 30 tractors with Hayden.) I told him you got really strong medicine to fight the cancer. He wished you well, but then preceeded to ask about John Deere tractors.... I ran into Kelly Miller at Weis and I thought her daughter was her sister. Gosh time sure does fly.. She is taller then Kelly! Well take it day by day and think of hugging those grandkids! Jenny

Hey guys,

I sat in front of the tube and pretended I was watching the game, it made me feel closer to you! The only thing that I understood were the kids that were painted up like bumble bee's. Deb it doesn't seem right that i tell you that i had dinner at the mainland tonight, but i have to tell you b/c roberto and donald were both asking for you. they are ready to roll out the red carpet for you. I am thinking of you and hope to hear that you are feeling a little better tomorrow. xoxoxo kathi

Sorry you are not feeling well, Deb. I hope today and this week will be better. Great ND win last night. Jen, Shelly and Katy are all disappointed that there could not have been a winning season while they were at ND, but we were happy for the win, as lucky as it was. One week until Jen leaves for Asia, so I am going to try to get through the week at work thinking only good thoughts -- like your getting well and having my girls all at home for Christmas, etc. You keep me focused on the important things in life. I can't wait until you are home and back to your self and we can converse regularly by phone at least. Miss you and pray for your pain to subside. Love, Cheryl
