Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah

Dear Fod's,

Hi everyone! I am still pretty weak so Joe is doing the typing for me. I tried to type today but could not hit the right keys -- it looked like it was coming out in a different language. So Joe is typing tonight, but under the strictist scrutiny.

Nothing new to report medically today. I love this new attending physician -- he is so kind and thoughtful with me. My throat is pretty sore today and it is hard to eat. I was able to eat more protein today and had mac and cheese for lunch and dinner and yogurt for breakfast. Joe brought me some applesauce, jello and rice pudding for the fridge so there is something for me to eat. Did you know that a Dove bar has 5g of protein?? Who would have thought! Haven't attempted it yet, but maybe later tonight. Still no real appetite, I am forcing it down to get enough protein to help the stem cells to engraft.

Still no wbc and that is knocking me out. Maybe 6 days to go. I am just dragging today and feel worn out. I have a little back ache and am just not quite feeling right today, but did lose another 4-5 pounds. No biking today, but I did do some of my other exercises.

Thanks for the blogs, posts and cards. I will try to comment more tomorrow. I miss you and love all of you guys.

Love to all.

Debbie

Hi Deb -
Hey loved the news about the Dove bar.... if you eat 3 you'll have 15gs and it will make your thoat feel better!!!
Nothing much happening here. Just bugging Stefie about the wedding plans. I'm turning into the "wedding planner" and the "wedding crasher" at the same time. I want Stefie to do everything I say and I want her to go the the country club and crash someone's reception so I can see how they decorated. She said NO to everything. I loved Jess's reception.

Wishing you well.

love, Donna

Deb,
As always,
I'm thinking of you... reading your blogs and am wishing I could come in with "Mr. Clean" (well, not the liquid stuff, just the guy) and wipe it all away.
(I wonder what else he could do!)
Hope you begin to pick up soon... we're all waiting for you...
As for the Dove Bars... they'll have to suit until everyone can get back Deb's cookies. Not the same, but acceptable. Go for it.
and yes, of course... thanks so much to Joe for his assistance in this essential communication.

Love, prayers, and good wishes.

The "thongs" are still flapping.

Debbie:

So glad you take the time to keep us updated. I know you are very tired. Not much news from here either except the weather has taken a turn to the cool side. Hallalueh! I think it was 67 for a high. It was great for the boys at football practice.

Just plodding along here doing all those mom things and trying to stay ahead of everyone which is a job into itself.

I have my first meeting with my volunteer chairs for the Annual Giving Committee tomorrow...so here goes getting paid for fundraising. I have to say I am a little nervous. Doesn't make much sense as I do this all the time. We'll see.

Thursday is Bee's first Little League football game and Friday Colin will dress for Varsity football. He has be grumbling about playing time tonight after practice. I think he'll see some time but he is so critical of his ability. That's a 15 y/o for you.

Hope to get Aunt Angie to all the games this week. She likes football a lot!

As always...keep blogging as I love checking in on you throughout the day. Choke down a Dove Bar for me too!

Lots of love...from the Midwest :)

Hi Honey ,sorry you feel so yukky...thank goodness you have Joe there to type for you..even under the best of circumstances it's a bummer....it was a long day at MSC the phones were not working ,so no outgoing calls...but of course we all were thinking of you ,and hoping for stem cells and strong kidneys, liver etal, whoever that is..we were talking about the "old" days in ICU and really were howling ..we all did have fun in between the really hard work..could you imagine if YOU came in and tried to clorox you in your room..we were in tears(did you have to be there??)You can clorox me any day...remember after I did a double,at 10 p.m. I went into the kitchen and took my bra off( back facing out to ICU) two days later the man in ICU-5 that WAS in a coma(that nite) said ,"oh aren't you the nurse that took your bra off in the kitchen the other nite"...so much for coma's!!...and when Bonnie was vigorously toweling this guys hair after a MUCH needed shampoo..I happened to point out his navy blue hands(NSR on the monitor) EMD real time...dead guy with really clean hair( I think she used a pinch of clorox in the rinse water..just a pinch!!) ...there are a million stories one better than the next ..we should all collaborate and write a book. It's been a really long day,so I'm hitting the rack, as my Dad always said, thinking of you ,will say a rosary for some strenght and lots of new stem cells, have a restful nite and keep up the weeing xxoo:)Bev

So funny to hear Bev telling stories about the ICU days. I will always remember the time I came to you resuce with my lab coat when you had a flow problem. It must seem so weird being on the other side now. I wonder if any of your nurses are taking off their bras right now.... ?!?! (I hope they aren't male nurses) Anyway the weather is yucky today so you are allowed to have a yucky day too. My kids are bouncing around like monkeys today too much energy. I wish I could package some of it and send it off to you. hang in there Deb. Jenny

Hi Debbie,

Sorry to hear you are dragging but I guess it is medically understandable! Will keep the prayers up and sending sweet thoughts your way.. here is a joke my mother-in-law sent me today, thought you would like it! lots of love visitor alison... mmmh off to get a Dove bar as part of my new health kick!

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As
bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did anything wrong. He forced
himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of
aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!
Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.
>
>He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he
notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick!
>

"Honey, breakfast is on the stove. I left early to go get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian
>

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating.
>
Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?"
>
"Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door."
>
Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me.
>

His son replies, "Oh THAT! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, lady, I'm married!"
>

>Broken Coffee Table $89.99
>

>Hot Breakfast $4.20
>
>Two Aspirins $0.38
>
>Saying the right thing, at the right time............PRICELESS!!!

Hey Deb,

I was so mad I missed your call this am. Tried to call you back, but line was busy. This is the first chance I had to get to the blog, and I find you're feeling punky. I'm so sorry. I don't want to call now in case you're resting, but if you read this we are up here. Shoot I don't like that backache. Did it go away completely and now is back? or have you had it all along?

Gonna have to go get the beads out now. Its been a long day here too(thinking of the msc girls) We found a nice outfit for Kate, but now she needs dress shoes. Went from shopping to PT, where my ROM measurements have improved, than home at 6p to make dinner. Gayle called after that, and haven't talked to her for a month, so we chatted for a while. I feel like I've had a normal "Debbie" day, but for me(a real slug), it was exhausting. But I feel so bad that you don't feel good. I'm going to pick up my parents tomorrow, and will come back Thursday, but I'll call you before I leave.

Hope you got something to help w/ the throat pain and backache, that will also help you sleep. Wish I could give you a great big hug. I'm doing that in my heart. Much love, honey. Mo

Hey Deb, what do you expect so soon? After what you have gone thru!! Just take everyday slowly,.. maybe klondike bars are worth something too..
i have been back at work, We have 5 kids so far..3 pretty autistic, one speech and language, and my friend from last year who called me a MF!They keep us pretty busy, but are all so cute..
The boys have been busy gettng back in the routine of school, plus a few puberty moments.. i am beginning to see how older boys start to do the "seperation" from parents and become their own "men"..interesting,but it can be stressful at times.. plus.. just to add to the stress.. a new puppy, and the tension of applying to colleges, or should i say, trying to talk about which colleges to apply to..!!So, that is what ive been doing.
tim and mark are in oakland at the A vs Red Sox game tonight,
Even though you don.t feel like it , you sound like you are doing a little bit better..take it slowly deb..build up that strength.. sounds like with your friends you.ll need it! love , mdf

Hi Deb- Hope your soon feeling a little less punk.. No more trips to ICU, OK. Enjoy those Dove bars!! How much longer till those WBC's return? I sure hope they show up soon.
Things are quiet at MSC. Lee and Bon are off this week so we have Bev doing double duty, working and feeding us! Deb S. has hired another full time OR nurse, so Ali and her will share OR duties. We can run 2 rooms without a problem once she starts. I miss you and Mo- maybe by next summer we will all be back to normal????
Well time to hit the sack- thinking of you always- hope the kidneys keep you busy so you are more comfortable!!!
love- Holly

Hi Deb. Sorry you're not feeling well today, but you're a trooper to have Joe type your blog. What a pair you two are! I'm sure if he had laryngitis, you'd go to court and deliver his message to the judge. What a court room that would be!

Things are getting a little hectic here, so few days until the wedding. When you feel up to it, we'll talk!

Love,
Cathy

Hi Chizzie-

All you have to do is make it to the door...

and conjure up some WBC!

Sending you lots of vibes, kiddo.
Not much going on here. Mr. Hal returned from KC yesterday. Boudie got a hair cut and I went grocery shopping. Such an exciting life!

Know that you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Allison - that was a great joke and Beth, that deal about the Dove bar was just too darn funny.

Love to all FOD's, COD's and ROD's who gather here.

K
