Consolidation Check In

Debbie was checked into HUP for her consolidation chemotherapy this afternoon. Our friend Mary Ellen did us another kind turn and made sure that Debbie got her old room back on Rhoades 6, Room 6008 -- a beautiful corner suite -- with a sofa bed, hard wood floors and a nice tile bathroom. Most especially, however, Debbie has all of her nurse buddies back taking care of her.

When Debbie arrived on the floor -- all of her friends were there to greet her and it took us 10 minutes to walk about 10 feet. Other patients were poking their heads out of the room to make sure the President wasn't on the floor. Debbie has touched so many people during her ordeal and they have touched her back, that it was a very special moment and there is a very special bond between them. Nurse Patty was there to hug us and help us to settle in and get ready for the next round. Debbie is in the best hands and we are thankful for everyones' kindness.

They will start the new round of chemotherapy tonight @ 9:00 PM and they will follow it again with another round @ 9:00 AM. She will get a days rest and then they will repeat the cycle or the 9's for a total of three. If all goes well, she will be discharged on Tuesday afternoon to come home to recover.

Everyone continues to be amazed at how well Debbie looks and about her remarkable recovery. They are all hopeful that we are now on the path to a total recovery.

FOD's, Debbie's land line!!! is 215.615.8147 -- please use this line to talk with her. She does have her cell phone, but I have to encourage the land line for fiscal reasons.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Once again Joe is working magic with his words. I can just see you arriving and all of the staff hovering at the nurses station hearing about your miracle. I would imagine they have seen a few.

I also see that Joe successfully pulled a few strings. Hard wood in a hospital. It "almost" sounds cozy.

Gosh how I am going through withdrawal. It was so good to see you and all of our crazy cousins and aunts...I can't miss Joe, Joey, Michael and Alli...Oh if your DC family could have been there to witness it. The same stories told one more time. Of course the Gold Dust stories of my brother Ricky and cousin Bobby are always my favorites.

Big news...I had Weight Watchers today...I was prepared for the worst! Only gained 0.6 lbs. AMAZING as I didn't stop eating this weekend. And that wasn't just ordinary food.

Tell Joe, Colin consumed his caramel apple for breakfast on Monday. Brendan and Mere are still working on theirs. Mere headed to the state Student Council Convention this afternoon. Brendan is still talking about his weekend with his buddy Joe. I am thinking it might had been a good diversion for him.

Tomorrow the kids have off and Brendan and I are headed to Columbia MO for the State Basketball Tourney. Colin is riding with a friend. This is the semifinals of our state tourney and our very own St. Francis Borgia is in the hunt. Apparently the semi-final game will be the tougher game.

As good as you looked last weekend I am hoping you keep your strength up. Focus on Emma now that you had a chance to hold her.

Hope Mom and baby continue to do well. Take care...rest up for goodness sake. At the rate you were going last week you could use some rest.

Much love and thinking of you non- stop. Cousin Eileen

Deb, it must have been "heaven" being able to spend time with Jess and Emma along with the boys.
Keep up the strength that you have exuded always and come home ASAP.

Good morning Chizzie-

Been thinking, thinking, thinking about you since hearing the good news about Emma. Can't wait to see the pics and hear all the stories.

Also thinking of you yesterday when you checked back into HUP. And just so you know, (mdf - check this out) the WILD TURKEYS were back yesterday morning. I haven't seen them since you got your last round of good news from Doctor Porter and then voila, they show up again when you check back into the hospital. Just sayin' guys. Joe, do you have any Wild Turkey in your hooch cabinet by chance??? You might want to get some.

Glad to hear you are back in the chemo saddle with your old crew. Hail to the nurses and Hail to the Chief (Mary Ellen) who take such good care of you.

Hope all is going well and special prayers are coming your way as you sail through this next round of the chemo. (Fingers crossed, too.)

Joe - as always, thank you for your wonderful updates. We FOD's sure appreciate the time you take from your busy schedule to update us.

Love to the Family Teklits.
Love you mon Chiz. Hurry home so we can hit KoP mall...and the Cheesecake Factory. hah!

Hey Deb,
Wow, you have been so busy. It is so mysterious how things happen. Things could not have worked out better - you got to see Jess and Emma And Walid and Mr. C. What could be better? I miss you and hope the next leg of your journey goes as well as it can. Sarah is coming home this weekend. I cannot wait to see her - it has been almost 10 weeks. Meg is off to California for her spring break and David said he may come home for a few days (I'll take that!)I guess I'll wait until you come home to drop by to see you but you never know. I could get it in my head to drop by HUP to see you.
So, we're all thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way.
Love you so much,
Susan Schneider
P.S. I forgot my password so I had to go in under anonymous! Duh!

Debby & Joe,
It sounds like it was a great welcome, most befitting for a royal pair. The HUP folks must also be pleased to see someone returning to their halls who is able to say "hey, hang in there, this stuff works", even though all of us bloggers know better. We were very pleased to read about the admission, that with Mary Ellen's assistance, you've got your old corner room back. Let's hope that all goes well & none of those grusesome anti-biotic reactions. Thanks again for a great dinner & evening; it was so good to see all of you. We hope that Joey's hand is better after his fall on the ice. We really enjoyed seeing pictures of little Emma being held by her proud & smiling grandparents. We forwarded them to the family & Mary Ann in Ohio. Larry responded from Romania that he also enjoyed seeing them. We will continue with our prayers & novenas, love Mom & Dad

Hey Deb:

Big news in Wash. MO....Our team won the semifinals of Class 4A Basketball today. Tomorrow we go back to Columbia for the finals. It was so exciting today.

Last night I was so excited about the potential of being the first to post my commment. It made me hurry more than usual. And when I clicked to post...Bob and Kim's comment showed up ahead of mine.

Chhheeezzz...you gotta be reallly quick around here.

Just wanted to wish you well on your day between treatments. I bet you are cheering up all the folks with your miraculous result.

Thinking about you all the time and reliving the weekend. I have to retell the story over and over again to friends. The best is the fact that I am such a big girl and flew and rented the car and found Tennis Way...despite the darn unmarked detour....

Take care and keep everyones spirits up.

Love you to pieces.

Tell Joe we are actually COD's...Cousins of Deb....Love Cousin Eileen

Things sure do have a way of working out. Emma's entrance into this world couldn't have come at a better time! I'm so happy Jess and Emma are doing well and that you were able to see them before going back to the hospital. At least it sounds like you won't be stuck there for long, although stuck probably isn't the right word. You seem to get some pretty special treatment there! Thanks for continuing to keep us all in the loop. I'll be checking in daily!

Hi Chiz -

A quick note - have tried to call a couple of times (on the land line hah-hah) and gotten the busy signal. I'll try again later. Right now I'm scurrying around trying to get on the road to Ohio. I will keep trying. In the meantime, I saw today's Daily word and thought it would be good for you to see as well, as you truly are a "radiant expression of healing power":

Healing

Nourished by the healing presence of the Christ within, I am healed.

I put aside the worries of the world and give my full attention to the Christ within. I begin moving into a time of prayer by counting my blessings.

I am thankful for the nourishing, healing presence of the Christ within me. This holy presence is continually blessing me with health and renewal.

I give thanks that the nourishing, healing presence of the Christ is active in my loved ones. I see them claiming abundant lives as they receive divine guidance.

I am filled with wonder by the healing power of Christ. As I give thanks for the renewal that is taking place, I accept the healing that is mine to have. I am a radiant expression of this healing. There is greater good awaiting me each new day as I am nourished by the healing presence of the Christ.

"He said, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'"--Exodus 33:14

Sorry to be so brief. I love you and I'm thinking of you, honey.

Hi FOD's and COD's and ROD's (relatives of Debbie?)
K

P.S. mdf - get out! You are seeing wild turkeys, too? Man, this is giving me chills, people.

P.P.S. Cousin Eileen - I love COD's. Too cute!
