The Best News !!

We waited all day today to hear from Jeff when the business office called late in the day to make the arrangements for Deb's admission in the morning. Deb told the office that we were waiting to hear the news of the marrow taken yesterday. The office then made some phone calls and shortly thereafter, Lori called with the good news.

Lori said that based upon their analysis of the material taken yesterday, "there is no evidence of leukemia in your bone marrow." They were quick to note that they are not saying that Debbie is in remission, but this is certainly an unexpected finding that will cause everything to take a "pause." Some how, Deb has gotten herself to a place that Dr. Porter had written off. Apparently, they need to compare the slides from the prior HUP marrows, however, this is the best news that we could have hoped for! If Debbie is in remission, the potential treatment options have expanded dramatically. Other institutions that would not accept Deb as a patient may now be willing to treat her. We will have further news over the next few days, but the good news is that we will not be going anywhere tomorrow and will most likely spend a weekend at the shore to boot!

Obviously, we are very happy with this remission/reprieve and will be exploring our treatment options over the next few days. We are sure that the doctors will need to consult and we want to talk to them as well. Was Deb's response to the chemo somewhat "delayed" and could her 6% reading have been 0% if we had waited another week? Of course, we do not know the answers -- but we will certainly be asking a new set of questions.

Thank God for the Friday meeting, our for our interactions with the Doctor and his reaction to Deb (The Four Seasons experience was not too bad either). Dr. Carabasi took a prudent step that may have saved us from a very hard experience, or even something worse.

Thanks to all of you FOD's for your prayers, healings, cards, notes, calls, etc. I will keep shaking the cosmos for Deb and you all keep sending your positive vibes. This story could have a good ending after all!

Deb sends her love to all.

Chiz - I forgot to tell you that the wild turkeys were back this morning. There had to be 30-40 of them and the tom's were strutting their stuff and shaking their tail feathers.

Coincidence? I think not.

Love you - K

Debbie:

I am speechless. Over and over again and just yesterday I said to Brendan, why is it that bad things happen to good people. I think it's to teach us just how valuable life is and relationships are.

What an example you have been to all of us,facing this with a positive attitude, tempered with fear...has given us all a reason to be so very proud to have you in our lives.

While your at the shore be sure and have one of those peppers with the cheese inside, dripping with olive oil and chase it with a cosmo.

Love you Deb.....Leenie

PS I just know it was the family dinner that did it. Tonight we had dinner and said grace and of course prayed for Deb at the end and finally our prayers were answered! :)

Look out Emma...!

To Debbie and her family:

Ruth McGinnis here. I have been a silent follower of your journey. When I first heard of your "challenge", I cried. How could something so bad happen to such a good person? Then I started reading the postings. I cried. You , Debbie, and your family are such marvelous examples of truely wonderful people. Always showing grace, courage, and faith. Your friends and followers give meaning to strength and support. And now, tears flow for such good news.
God bless, and please know, you are in my daily prayers. Ruthie

Hello Debbie and all -

Just had to check in again. I keep reading the post over and over and each time I just want to jump up and do the snoopy dance.

Hope you are down at the shore, looking out over the ocean and enjoying the beautiful sunshine today. Is is windy there? It's windy as heck here.

Still sending prayers your way, kiddo. Love you, love you, love you.

Dagnabbit Chizzie -
I forgot to tell you this!

This morning when I was dialing your number(on the off chance I'd get you still at home) - I wandered into the library as I was dialing and looked out the window. There in the neighbor's back yard were thirty wild turkeys.

I have lived here 5 years and I have seen these turkeys three times - right after you got your initial diagnosis, the day you got the latest GOOD NEWS and today when I was dialing your number.

What is it about me, you and wild turkeys? (FOD's I'm sure you can help us fill in the blanks here)

Love you, honey.

:) Oh Deb and Joe :)
I have experienced the power of prayer personally. There are no questions or doubts in my mind. God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform. We have just witnessed the power of God working through each of us, using the power of love. Cathy and I are so happy for both of you and your whole family. Deb, your job is not over, the good Lord has plans for you and I'm guessing it has something to do with those little grand-babies of yours. Keep us posted and have a great time at the beach. :) LOve Artie and Cathy

Hey Deb and Joe:

Off to Cincy for the big event. Dave's induction into his high school hall of fame. So if you need to reach us we will be on my cell 314-922-4324.

We'll all be thinking of you this weekend at the shore. Everyone here is so thrilled and have shared the latest with some of our close friends. Actually I think Colin may have told all of his Global Studies class as well. Everyone is tracking your progress.

As a result of your lstest good news I signed up for Eucharist Adoration for Lent. It was a deal I made during Mass this past Sunday. Now I have to make good on it. Now you will get my undivided prayers once a week. Think of what that may do!

Love to all. Remember Aunt Angie will be with us as well.

Love, Love, Love ya....Leenie

Hey Debbie and Joe:

Back safe and sound from Cincinnati. Thought about you all weekend. Brendan says hi. (he added that when I stepped away for a minute)...

Survived yet another road trip. The honoree did well through the weekend but he did mention to me that he was a little embarrased by the attention. What a great guy he is!

We looked very superficially at the campuses of Xavier University and University of Cincinatti while we were there. One charming, the other seemed big but actually pretty nice. I can see Mere will be overwhelmed. We did sign her up to attend the Spring Day at St. Mary's in April. That will be a fun road trip for the three of us to enjoy. Debbie can you believe that we are doing this already with Mere. Makes me so nervous.

I spread your good news all over Cincy and Dave's family was thrilled to hear. They are such good folks. I wish you could have heard Dave's thank you remarks. He did well until he gave special recognition to his brothers. Best described as "he fell apart",but even tough guys cry from time to time.

We are anxious to hear what doors have been opened as far as treatment is concerned. We are doing the Bobby shuffle all around the kitchen these days.

Continue to let the reprieve sink in! We are so happy here.

Much love and hugs...Cousin Eileen
