Day 16: Turning the Corner!!!

Dear Fods,

While I hope that this note is not premature, Debbie is definitely coming back from the dark space she has been in for the past two weeks. Yesterday, she was able to walk -- with help -- to the middle bathroom for a standing up shower, had two good BM's, and ate solid food (again FOD Charlene's chicken stew). She was very alert yesterday and spent good quality time visiting with FOD Kris. She was up and awake more than 50% of the time yesterday.

FOD Kris arrived on Wednesday evening from Colorado and she left earlier this morning. On Thursday we had a full morning with Social Workers and nurses while Kris began learning the ropes of "D" Care. Nurse Kathy (Debbie's regular nurse) will now be her nurse every Thursday and she was glad to visit with Debbie again. She drew blood and we got the results on Friday morning. Remarkably, Debbie's WBC is now down to 30K from a high of 117K without any of the new drug. Her RBC is fine and only her platelets are low @ 15K. With the Phillies parade, even HUP thought better of a transport on Friday and Debbie has been fine over the weekend, with only a little nose bleed. That could have been caused by the sinus surgery as she just passed a huge piece of packing that must have been left behind some months ago. They will draw blood again on Monday and we will see if we need a transport next week.

This morning, we were up early to see FOD Kris off for her plane. Luckily, I forgot to turn the clocks back last night or she would have been with us for a while longer! Debbie was out of bed this AM for some final Kris care and she is resting now. Also, she read the blogs herself this morning after Kris left!

While Debbie still has a way to go, I think we are coming out of this latest tunnel and back into the light.

Thanks for all of your cards and blogs -- they mean a lot to us.

Debbie sends her love to all.

Debbie...

Incredible, Remarkable, Inspirational...you are all that and more.

We have entered the football mania part of the year. When we started this football season it was really with a heavy heart after having so much success last season. Dave coined the phrase "cautiously optimistic" regarding this possible season's success. I never thought we would end the season 8-2 and be going to the playoffs but here we are and now us senior Moms are a bunch of nervous Nellies.

Dave went with a couple other parents to watch our next possible opponent and it looks very promising for us this coming Wednesday night to win Regionals. Yet another game played with your fighting spirit in mind.

Again...special hugs to your dedicated girlfriends and family for taking such great care of you. We are just so thrilled to see that you are making such great progress.

Keep it up! Love to all. COD Eileen and the family

Debbie,

I am glued to the blog again. Always looking for news of how you are doing. It looks like you had a good day yesterday - solid food - awesome. I want you to know that not a minute goes by that you don't drift through my thoughts. You have been amazing. Oops my breakfast is ready - Richard makes a mean omlette and I don't want it to get cold. It looks like today is going to be a pretty one - enjoy! Love you so much.

Dearest Debbie,
Fantastic, this is great news. OK I get it.. you just want me to "visit" more often.... there was a while there when Visitor Alison wasn't checking the blog as I knew you were out and about living life large.. and now I'm back to visiting you daily!!! (many times a day!!!)....
Let's see, the latest from my world now that you are reading the blogs again. This Thursday I hope to travel up to see Lynne's kids, I haven't seen them for almost 2 months as I have been working like crazy to build my business so I can fully support myself and Sam. Horrible legal stuff going on with the divorce but I keep finding pennys from heaven and love my life and work so I count my blessings and know I will survive this heartache. My one hope is that I don't have to loose my home, I love my neighbors and neighborhood so much. Sam is a senior with his eye on Penn State as his first choice.... I brought him for senior photos this week and teared up when I saw the cap and gown photos!!! My baby will be leaving me next year. So for now I am enjoying every moment.. He is a great kid. My dog Penny continues to be a rasal, but her high energy keeps me going. When I'm working in my office downstairs with the door open so she can go in and out she tries to get my attention. I will see her run past the door with a pillow in her mouth or best yet a stuffed gorilla toy as she trotted by me with a sly grin on her face! Debbie dearest, I'm looking forward to a cuppa in Tennis Way... keep getting strong so I can brew one for you. Lots and lots of love Visitor Alison.

Mom-Mom,

We are overjoyed to hear this great news. You are truly a miracle--- We hope that you remain on this upswing . Know that we think about you always! We had a great halloween and Isabelle had so much fun trick-or-treating.. We joined up with all the cousin and went door to door.. I was shocked that Isabelle was able to keep up with the boys. She actually got the whole thing, it seemes. She walked up to every door , reached for candy, and sometimes went back for seconds!! Her bumblebee costume looked a lot better the first time she wore it and did not make it very far on our outing.. oh well...

We love you very much
Isabelle and Allison

Deb,

You can't imagine the relief I feel and the emotions running over me as I read this latest blog. I'm chomping at the bit to see you, but now I have a cold(which also is causing me to have sympathetic nosebleeds). I thought of you so often last week as we were moving, wondering constantly how you were. And now I read that Miss Kris(kudos and many thanks for your excellent loving care of Deb) seems to have been just the medicine you needed, along w/ all your loving T's of course. And you're eating....that must put Joe over the moon!

This is our 2nd full day in the house. The move did not....lets see, how can I put this nicely....the move was governed by Murphys Law....everything that can go wrong will. But we are back in and the wrongs will all be righted eventually. I'd love to bring you photos of the house and the few pieces of furniture we have, but only if you're up for it....you let me know.

Deb, I love and miss you so much. Words can't explain how thankful I am that you have turned this corner. My prayers will be ones of thanksgiving tonight and for continued recovery of course.

Big Dating Game hugs and kisses to you and all the T's. Bob says "God Bless you, dear. Hang in there."

Love, love, love you,
Mo and Bob

You are awesome! Last week I had everyone in Wilkes-Barre praying for you! So glad you are up and about and eating. Manga!!!Enjoy the next few days on you deck. It is supposed to be in the 60's and the leaves are so beautiful. That is the best part of my drive to Wilkes-Barre. OOPS, I just remembered I didn't call them to tell them I was home. Better do it. Keep getting stronger, girl.

Hello Chizzie-

Thinking of you this morning as I watch big, fat fluffy flakes of snow drift down outside my window. It's starting to taper off, but it's left a white dusting on the ground. Can't see the snow without thinking of how much you love it, but oh, I'm not ready for winter yet. My Halloween decorations are still up! Tacky, I know, but I just haven't had a chance to get the ladder out and take them down. Now with the snow...who knows how long it will take me.

Hope this finds you resting comfortably and feeling okay today. I'm missing being with you, honey!

Despite everything going on last week we still managed to enjoy each other's company didn't we? We shared some laughs, sang a few songs and even busted a few dance moves! And how about the day we played "Debbie does Charge Nurse"? We sure had those boys hop-singing around that day! Ha-ha! (God love 'em)

Your spirit never ceases to amaze me, honey. I love you.

Joe, Jess, Joey and Mike, I'm sending you all my prayers and love, too.

Remember, you have an army of FOD's to call on when you need help.

Hugs and kisses

K
