Sleepy Saturday
Mom is pretty sleepy today and as much as I'd like to blame it on the weather, I know it probably has a lot to do with mom's pain medication. We were trying to figure out how much Dilaudid she had over the last 24 hours (8mg), on top of the Valium 4x/day (5mg), and Fentinol (10mcg per hour) patch and its no wonder the poor girl can't keep her eyes open!
Mom needed platelets again today (thanks to the womanly problems) and received some more benadryl which does not help her sleepiness. They've been trying to keep her 'tanked up' with platelets to combat her continuous loss of blood. They've started her on a progesterone taper which should take care of her 'issues' in a matter of days. It does make mom a little crazy because she asked to see someone from OB-GYN three weeks ago because she knew from past experience it would not stop on its own.
Earlier today Dad visited and brought mom some spaghetti with homemade sauce he transported in on some ice. I hear mom had a nice helping of that! She did two laps with dad and rode the bike a bit. I took mom out on one lap, and it never fails she gets to talking with one of the nurses out there. The walk is tough for her, and the gabbing makes it even harder, but she finishes at a pretty fast clip and then comes in and crashes for a nap with some o2.
Mom's been working hard to get her calories up (minimum is 1000/day) so that they may remove the TPN. They will be hanging her nightly bag here shortly. I believe they've removed the basal rate of the PCA pump - but she's still able to press the button and deliver 2mg of IV Dilaudid every 10 minutes - yikes can you imagine?!? She's been trying not to hit the pump much in preparation for its removal. I think they will transition to oral meds tomorrow.
Nothing is in stone yet, but it is looking like mom will not be released on Monday. They are planning on doing an abdominal ultrasound to check on the womanly issues, which won't be done until Monday and a host of doctors need to come in and 'tie up loose ends' with her before she can go home. We're also hoping to hear the results of the bone marrow biopsy on Monday when Dr. Porter makes his rounds. We'll keep you posted.
Mom sends her love to all.

Debbie,
Just can't figure out WHY they don't listen to you down there!!!! It sounds like there are kinks to be worked out yet, and it's probably gonna save aggro in the long run to get it all done now. Make sure all the loose ends are tied in pretty bows before your mad dash outta there.
Wanted to tell you that our gal Suzanne P is w/o a computer, so she can't blog, but I just filled her in and she wants you to know(you do already I'm sure) that you are always in her thoughts and prayers. She's moving next Saturday, but she too wants you to know if there's anything she can do after that, please let her know.
Glad to hear you had some pasta. And don't wear yourself out walking and talking. You've got to build up your strength gradually. Oh my, I haven't given you any lectures in weeks...how bout that?
Hope you get a decent nights rest. Glad Jess is down w/ you now. Bob sends his love and says hang in there darlin'. We love you Deb,and can't wait to see you, Mo
Hey Deb, Jessie et al:
Another winner for Bee in the 8th grade league here in Washington, MO. 14-6. The victory was sweet!
The older kids did some fishing and Colin and a friend were out collected black walnuts in the woods so they can cash them in for $$$. Not sure who sold um this line on them being used to make tar for road surfacing but he bought hook line and sinker. He will probably make enough to pay for the gas to get to and from the "recycling" location.
Aunt Angie came along to the game which started 1 hour late and we were there an hour early. Sheeesh! She loves to watch football. It was ok for the delay as we had a picture perfect day here.
A nice quiet night tonight with some football. Nonnie cookies got pushed to tomorrow due to the lateness of the game.
Keep up the good work and the better eating. Sounds like a good meal today. I am overdue on making sauce myself.
Miss you bunches. Keep the progress up. Anxious to hear about the BMB...Love COD Eileen
Hey Chiz-
When oh when will those folks ever learn that you are the best nurse on the planet and start listening to you? Especially about the girl problems!
Sheesh.
Hope the pasta tasted like pasta and I'm glad to hear that the HUP wheels are turning (albeit slowly) in getting your discharge in order. We all know about HUP time so I guess we should have known that Monday probably means Tuesday or Wednesday.
Double Sheesh!
You've almost made it to the door...
I love you honey - K
Dear Deb, Joe and family;

Your Aunt Angie
Deb--Sounds like you've got a busy schedule, I'm glad Jess is here to help navigate the exit for HUP.
Some man, that Joe. He cooks too! Hope you can continue to have an appetite. Who would have thought we'd be talking about forcing food?
I'm anxiously awaiting your return to Tennis Way, Deb. Just can't wait!
Love,
Cathy
When will they ever learn??? ..WE've already established that YOU the WOMAN ,can't thet get it????Geez Deb that must make you soooo frustrated...anyway,just wanted to say goodnite ,sweet dreams, and hope all these loose ends don't take too long to tie up... can Jess make you a big sigh that says, "LISTEN TO ME I'M ALWAYS RIGHT"...sounds like the pasta dinner hit the spot...I know Joe makes a mean spaghetti bolagnese..what a guy!!! I'm sure this is just the begining of many wonderful dinners to come...you'll be "tanked" up pretty soon honey...Well, have a peaceful sleep..and a good day tomorrow...prayers are still coming your way all the live long day ..mass for you in the a.m. from Mom and me(Millie sends love and prayers always)XX OO:)Bev
Hi, Jess and Deb. Started to write and then it disappeared, so if this is a repeat -- I apologize. Thanks for your wonderful writing, Jessie! Hope you are good and the kids are as well. Looks like you are almost home, Deb. Wish I lived across the street from you like I used to so many years ago! Sorry about the womanly problems. It's been a while, but I still remember. Have a good Sunday and keep up what you are doing. You are exercising more than I am these days! Love to you all. Cheryl (Crone)
Debbie & Joe,
Sounds like there's a lot going on at the HUP to get you ready to come home, & we couldn't be more pleased for the both of you. Having Jessie home must be comforting to Debbie as well, & we're grateful to her for that. Let's hope they get your "ladies problem" taken care of. Homemade spaghetti sounds like a treat, & we're glad that you were able to enjoy it. It's too bad that the HUP doesn't serve a nice glass of Cornas or Barolo with it. Debbie will always be "the nurse" & can't resist chatting with them. Let's hope that the results of the BMB are fine & the staff can "tie up the loose ends" so you can finally come home this week. We continue to keep you in our thoughts & prayers, Love, Mom & Dad
Good morning Deb,
Well, I woke up to the sound of rain, but the sun is shining now. Hope it's sunny the day you're d/c'd. The leaves are turning, which if memory serves you can see from your room, but I bet you can't wait to see your own bee-yoo-ti-ful trees in your yard.
Hope the wheels are still turning to get you out and on your way home asap. Praying for no last minute snafus. Try to keep eating, though I'm sure it's not easy.
Thinking of you always. Love you dearly and the whole famn damily too. Hope you have a good Sunday.
Love, Mo
PS, We'll probably see Bev and Millie in church, so we'll pray in unison for you!!!
Debbie,
Sounds good to hear that you had some homemade pasta and that Jess is down there with you. Rest and get your strength back and put some pink in those cheeks!
Those womanly problems never end. I was driving to the shore Friday night with Kevin and had a hot flash. Well let me tell you that I fogged up all of the car windows with the steam that came off of me. Talk about hot flashes!!!! Kevin was ready to jump out of the car and run for his life.
The beach was nice on Saturday and when we left on Sunday morning it had started to rain. But when we finally got home to Lansdale the sun was shinning.
Hope you have a beautiful fall day.
You take care and get back into the pink.
Love,
Your Friend Donna
