Day 6

This is mostly anti-climatic after our Guest posting today, but we like being able to speak to everyone. Deb had a very good day today. She looked well when I arrived today at about 1:00 pm and was bathed, in new PJ's and was talking to her charge nurse Patty.

On the weekends, the meals seem to be about 1 hour later than during the week. Deb's lunch came about 1:30 today and I brought a lunch from home. Deb was very hungry today -- which is good -- and she tore into her lunch and a snack later in the afternoon. She had some more of Gary's soup and loved every drop. There were no bad after-effects from these meals.

We blogged together today for the first time, and although I am certain that Deb has not a clue how any of this has happened, she will figure this out before she goes home. Today, she saw the blog, wanted to respond and dictacted with reckless abandon. [Yes, Kris, there was censorship going on today during the dictation, no thanks to you !!.]

Deb was happy today and that was nice and it made me feel good.

We then did a fraction of the laps that Deb thinks she did and probably faster than we should have have done them. Napping was the rule after the laps and Deb slept contentendly for about 1.5 hours. She was tired and she slept well.

Deb sends her love to all and looks forward to hearing from you tomorrow.

Hi FODs,

Thank you all so much for your posts! You're medicine for my mom and ME too! I can't wait to check the blog throughout the day and really like hearing everyones stories, humor, memories, etc. They make really make me laugh!

I agree that my dad is doing a fabulous job of keeping us all updated and find it remarkable he still has that dry sense of humor he's known for. I had an exam most of the day today so Walid was on his own for about 8 hours with Christian. They did well - but they are both exhausted! The boys are tucked in and sound asleep and now its time for Emma and I to attack the Edy's. She and I are both becoming night owls - and chocaholics.

Kathi - Have you ever used the online photo services to create an album? That is probably the easiest way to get them posted and shared. If not, email them to me and I can create an album. I think anyone who's seen my mom in the last few weeks has already seen these photos....cut and paste this address into your web browser:

http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=vs5ik4a.2my4na0q&x=0&y=-tq4stg

Mo - lemon bars and potato leek soup sound great! I guess neither would ship well this time of year...Glad you're learning the online lingo - although I must admit I don't know what jp is either - jk is just kidding...ideas anyone?

<3 to all!

All things considered it sounds like you had a darn good day today, Chizzie! SO glad to hear it.

I'm not so glad to hear that Joe is censoring your guest blogging. Hmpfh. What about freedom of speech? What about artistic expression? What about the right to lie naked in your hospital room with only your lava lamp for a night light??? I have been told that doing so will free your spirit and allow your writing to soar. Although so does someone named Mike Tavani apparently. (Now that's an inner monologue I'd like to hear more about, Kathi. ;->)

Today was another wild and wooly day in Manhattan. We left early this morning and once again that gal Karen ran the wheels off me!

On Thursday we hit Macy's, L&T, Saks, Bendel, Bergdorf's and today Mr. Hal had a meeting on the upper east side so we tagged along to go to Bloomingdale's.

Alas - I had no coupons for Bloomies but I did manage to get in on a couple of good sales.

Still haven't made it up to that new shopping area at Columbus Circle - I guess I'll save that trip for when you bust out of that joint.

Came home, did a ton of laundry and started packing for our trip while my sweet sister-in-law Karen wrapped my Christmas presents for me! (Props to Karen McLay. That was such a huge help to me, honey!) She'll head back to Ohio tomorrow with us after a very enjoyable visit. After celebrating Krissy's 17th birthday in Ohio - we'll do a Horace Greeley and go west young man.

I'll be checking in from the road, Sweet Cheeks.

Just so you know, honey, the following people have got your back: Dianne Ware of Cave Spring Ga, Frances Symons, Anderson SC, Bow Cencia, of Poland Oh, Pauline Hamon, Kris Hamon, Mimi Fetty, Megan Johnson, Karen McLay, Carol Johnson and her seven sisters, Newton Falls Oh, Kate Fenton, BethAnn Owens, Columbus Oh, Kathleen Apodaca, Albuquerque NM, Kathryn Hamilton, Jad Najjar, Los Angeles Ca, Mary Marvin, Linda Johnson, Las Vegas NV and Jan Barnard, Susie Marvin of Scottsdale Az.

There's a whole lotta praying going on!
Love you honey. K

Deb,

We've never met, but I work for Joe at Unisys. All of us at Unisys owe you a huge "thank you" for lending him to us, not just recently, but over the years.

Most recently, I'm surprised that Joe gets any work done at all, since everyone who talks to him starts the conversation with "How's Debbie?" and every conversation ends with "Give my best to Deb." Believe it or not, you have touched many lives here, and we owe you a big thanks for that, too.

You have quite a fan club in Blue Bell (and around the world!), and we are all sending you the most positive thoughts and prayers.

Hi Deb,

Well the blog is so insightful since I can't get you off my mind. I am sorry to hear that you are forced into a pink eagles hat...pink good, eagle not so. Mike should get you a PSU cap...definately good.
Met Joyce Will in Home Depot yesterday. Had a nice converse as is always with Joyce. We shared nice Debby stories agreeing that you are truly a special person. So my special friend suck up all the good energy that you have generated over the years and heal yourself because you are a powerhouse. Love Terry Reilly

Good morning Deb,
As much as I am glad to read Joe's postings about your days, it was GREAT to "hear" your voice! I'm sure I will be reading it over and over.
And I was so glad to read in Joe's post that you had a good food and "lap day."
Thank you Joe for writing every day.
I did too much "on my feet" yesterday and will just be doing sittin' stuff today. Got papers to grade and mid point grades to do.
Here's hoping for another great day for you, one step closer to healing.
Love,
Beth

i was about to ask if you can go outside, then i remembered what state you were in...was your night bad due to restlessness,or nausea,or even lower tract?Did mo mention that i think i have developed sympathetic bowel syndrome for you?

HI Deb!
Hope you are having a good day. One of your friends posted a blog and asked if you could make meatballs for the party. Your meatballs are awesome..but your chocolate chip cookies are even better! Can you make them too?? (I know I am not supposed to have them..but maybe one?)
Shane and I spent the day working on a science fair project....our question is can you make rocket fuel out of stuff found in the house. As a typical Teklits boy, the answer is yes and the neighbors had a good time watching Shane and I shoot empty film cannisters into the air after packing them with vinegar and baking soda. We figured we would see what happened if we doubled and then tripled the amount to put in...sound familiar?? (A picture of a young Joe (son) making his own cake mix in the middle of your kitchen floor is coming to mind)Our last one went about 15 feet above the roof of the house. I am sure the neighbors are glad we live here...
I hope that you are having a better day today and that your spirits remain high!

Rick & Shane

ps-Larry-sorry to hear you are in Tokyo again.

Debbie and Joe:

Back from Indy and the lousey performance of the Kentucky Wildcats vs IU. We forgot about the time change. Arrived after at the game at halftime and they were already way behind. I could tell you more but it was like one thing after another. Couldn't get you out of my mind as I clocked mile after mile. Wondering if I should just keep on going and hit the PA turnpike. But Mere was so looking forward to this overnight. I think this may have convinced her to forget about attending UK. Stopped by mom's (aunt angies) on are way back into town. She is loving this blogspot. She is on hip 79 y.o. I will check in with you in a few days. Sounds like you spend lots of time on the phone. Keep smiling....Cousin Eileen
