Special Guest Posting #2 from Tennis Way

Dear Fods,

Belated Happy Thanksgiving. We are wishing that you all had a great day with your families and friends. I wanted to write on Thankdsgiving Day to tell you all that I am most thankful for, but the day got away from me. I actually cooked a turkey and all the trimmings with a lot of help from Joey and Joe. Jessie, Walid and the kids were here, as well as Laurie, Mike and Pam. While it was quiet, it was just perfect. Izzie is in Disney World with Allison's family. There are twenty one of them there now. We hope to see them in the next several weeks. Apparently, Izzie went from crawling to running and is climbing on everything.

Things for me are coming along, but very, very slowly. Last Monday, I took the dreaded trip to HUP for a pic line replacement and to see Dr. Porter. Joey and Mike were on duty that day and we made the trip in the wheelchair. It was a long day from 9:00 to 4:00 -- as is typical of HUP. Dr. Porter does not have any explanation for my returning from the Dark Side -- but that I am/was very strong physically and it must not have been my time. I will see him again in 2 weeks.

The nurses come to the house 2 times per week. I do manage to come downstairs every day -- but going up stairs is very hard for me. I am eating fairly well and trying to maintain my strength, although my weight is way down so I will have to try harder.

But back to what I am thankful for. I am thankful for my incredible family, who have made it their full time job to take care of me. I don't know where I would have been (St. Mary's Manor??) without them. Most of the last few weeks fell onto Joey, but Jessie set up the protocols and she taught them all well. I am also thankful for all of you, my wonderful friends, for the cards, meals, blogs, etc. and for those who came to keep an eye on me. I wish I could thank you all individually and give you a big hug -- but until I can do that personally please know that I love you all and appreciate more than you will ever know all that you have done for me and my family.

I pray to get stronger so that I can get out and see you all again. Today, I did do Target in a wheechair, pointing and dictating what I thought we needed. I came hone and needed a two hour nap. Oh well, one day at a time.

I love you all.

Debbie

PS: To the HUP nurses on Rhoades 7 and the Chemo clinic. I am so grateful to all of you for the care that you gave me while I was so sick. Luckily, I was not aware of most of the hospital stay, but Jessie told me that you were at my side, so thank you again for all of the care that you always give to me. Bridget, this includes you too.

Ah, the power of prayer! So glad to hear you're coming along, even if it is slowly. You are amazing! And so is your family. Guess they had a wonderful upbringing. :-) Prayers continue. Love, Mussie

Finally, you had me worried. I knew that you were feeling well enough to be in the kitchen on Thanksgiving but this long distance thing makes my mind wander and dream up all kinds of possible things that can be going on @ 912!

So thrilled to hear that you are making steady progress. You are beyond amazing. And as you mentioned... so is your family. Taking such good care of you as you came back from what has been deemed the "dark side". I just can't believe it all.

Spoke with Eddie, Dodie, Rosie and Rosemarie on Turkey Day. They all seem to be doing well.

The kids are great and all is well here in Missouri. Colin has been accepted at three schools and is waiting out to see if any offers for football come his way. Mere is getting more and more excited about her upcoming semester abroad. She got her host family assignment and her Senora lives within walking distance to the University. Bee is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his 16th bday in January. Meanwhile Aunt Angie's 19 year old Camry awaits him in the garage. Dave and I leave this Monday on one of our captive insurance junkets to Cayman. We will be gone Monday - Saturday. Dang the luck. But the beach will be a reminder to me of our last visit together.

I wish you continued progress. I bet the Teklits clan just can't get over your progress.

Love to all....Miss you bunches.

Hi Deb,

So glad to hear from you and that you had such a nice Thanksgiving. Who could have imagined just weeks ago that you would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner! It is wonderful to experience the miracle of your recovery with you and your family--thank you for keeping us in the loop.

I experienced Thanksgiving at the beach this year and it was really wonderful. There were some that couldn't make it but the turnout ended in 18! Some of the guys even went to the beach to play frisbee between dinner and dessert!

I think I told you my expected goal for you was to make it downstairs by Christmas but since you went above and beyond that, I hope to see you at the beach for breakfast soon and maybe even to taste a couple of your chocolate chip cookies--no pressure though. ha! ha!

Take care my dear, however slow you continue to amaze us all. My love, thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Love, Donna K.

Debbie,

So glad that you had a great thanksgiving! I am praying things continue to go on the UP! It is such a special time of year, and we hope to see you sometime soon! Matthew is now waving, high fiving and clapping constantly, and he is flying across the room on all fours. We'll send you some pictures soon! Love you!

Oh, Debbie - I am so thankful that you are doing better; and, I know how important cooking dinner on Thanksgiving was for you - how you always loved to cook! You are blessed with a wonderful family; and, yes, Jess is just like you -- what a fine example you and Joe have set for your children! We are all so very blessed - I am blessed with having met you and having you as a wonderful friend and all you taught me! I love you! Love,Cheryl (Crone)

It's so nice to hear from you again! I kept checking and was hoping that no news was good news. That sure was the case! I can't believe you even cooked dinner on Thanksgiving and went to Target. I guess your counts are up again? I'd love to visit if you are accepting visitors again.

Love,

So glad to hear from you! I am so happy you are spending the holiday with the family. I always knew that while Joey was mopping the floors in the ICU he was secretly taking notes on nursing skills! Great job Joey!! Jenny

Deb.. considering you didn't eat hardly anything for almost 4 weeks.. were bed ridden and very sick, i think taking a trip to target around black friday, is not only miraculous.. but even people who did eat , and weren't sick would take a nap after going there! \
Had a wonderful thanksgiving.. i love the visits home from college..seeing the brothers interacting, laughing and hanging out. and then come the friends.. have to admit i enjoy them also. Pretty fun to listen to them all, especially the long hair red head kid who looks just like shaun white, and the kid from west point!!funny
You contine to amaze all of us. .okay.. you've done a great job of doing that these last few years.. and we will all appreciate it!!!! The prayers continue and the strong vibes.. love to all the teks.. mdf

Debbie: So glad to read your post today. Was at Church on Sunday and you were in the Prayer of the Faithful and I got scared that you took a turn for the worst. Thank God you are doing great - one day at a time. We are all thankful for your beautiful family - and for all the time they take to keep us all informed. Take one day at a time and soon you will be out to see your friends again. Glad you had a Good Thanksgiving too - Ours was filled with all the kids home for dinner and Ali home from school for the whole weekend. Keep it up - you go girl. Love Shelly

Got my hair highlighted today.. figure since my hair had become a mousy brownish with some gray that it was time again.. it turned out sort of a carmel color.. i never know how much to tip the hairdressers.. but i think i must not have tipped enough by her expression...
I also had a colonoscoopy this week..just love being in the 50'.. ha.. now. for you that have done sigmoids.. ( like i had) that prep is nothing compared to the colonoscopy's.. i almost cancelled it due to the prep.. but i said to myself.. "this is nothing compared to what debbie hss been going thru". so.. i managed to take 3 liters of this awful drink, and then i was suppose to drink the last liter at 4am.. well, after being up all night from the "drink" there was no way i was going to get up to remind myself how much i despised it the night before.. so.... when the nurses asked me if i drank it that am and i said no, and it was bsically the dr fault since i was up all night.. they all looked at each other and said' that's the most important part". so, i kind of had to embelllish the truth and make it sound like i drank almost the whole thing the night before..
then , you know how i am kind of chatty, well, the nurses kept rubbing my arm saying"its okay mrs foley" had to reassure them that this was my normal state before they upped the amount of versed.. ha. well, i got out of there within an hour of being admitted,, was home watching lifetime movies.. and let me tell you.. when they say let it out. let me tell you.. this time you don't care who the hell is in the room.. you go into auto pilot and just let it rip!
Other than that.. its been a normal week.. feel fine. was walking the dogs that afternoon, back to work next day.. but.. until they improve the drink.. that isn't going to happen again anytime soon
Deb..i swear i am such a wimp compared to you , but again.. you came into my mind and helped me, even without being next to me.. amazing the impact you have on all of our lives..
Keep getting stronger every day.. eat alot..and i will continue to send prayers your way..lots of love, and thanks again.. mdf

and...won't tyour grandkids be such fun this year!!!!!
megan and frida fly in from LA Christmas morning until 1/5-amy works Christmas day-scott, michelle, and johnny will come to jersey Christmas nite (did i tell you they are having a baby in feb?).

The girls had me up on black friday at 4 a.m. to go shopping too. Funny to watch the sun come up and not set when you're shopping.

Just got back from Aruba where we started our days with coffee, tea and a blueberry muffin on our balcony wearing sunglasses because the sun was soooo bright. It was 86 degrees when we left there and 30 degrees when we got back to Philly.

We were in that aqua blue, clear sea everyday. I thought I was Ester Williams... swimming with the fish...LOL!

Went to great restaurants and had Wahoo fish. It was the best! We had dinner al Fresco every night.

Can't believe I am home looking to put my Christmas decorations up and it's 38 degrees. It's too cold outside to show off this good tan.

Can't wait to see you.... you sound great. You deserve a big KISS !!

Love,
Tea Bags xoxo

Hope all those Christmas Santa's have found their way out of storage and onto your fireplace mantels. Trudy's little Christmas knomes are out and about and have a twinkle in their eye... they might be coming by for a little visit in the wee hours of the night. Hide the booze they are know to take a little nip and it makes them crazy.

Love you!

Merry Christmas

From the moment the first Mercedes-Benz CLS four-door "coupe" was introduced to the public, other German luxury automakers hit the drafting board. According to the German auto experts at AutoBild, Audi is just over a year away from unleashing its own cleverly packaged sedan.
