EXTRA EXTRA Read all About it!!

Dear Fods, Cods, and every other wonderful person who has been keeping up with my mom's blog:
hey everyone its joe or i guess joey to most i never usually post but today is a very special day. Today my mom made it downstairs!!!! She has really been working so hard on the steps and knows its a big obstacle but just totally crushed them and hung out downstairs for about an hour. She was delighted to see her downstairs finally and was so happy about the living room, thanks ron and mary G., and also noticed the beautiful mirror and stitching job that cod eileen sent a while back. Then when she felt tired she trucked back up the steps with very little effort and is now resting in her own bed!! I must admit that the last week i was nervous with jess being gone(shes kind of like our teams franchise player), woops sorry mikey, but the progress my mom has made is unreal. Each day she does a little more and its paying off big time shes eating regularly now and is constantly getting stronger. As you all know i have always been a momma's boy but i am in total awe of her fight, drive, determination, and her ability to stay positive in the darkest days. There was a time in my life that i thought i was tough, now seeing my mom claw her way back like she has, yea im not so tough! The women is amazing, shes my hero and the past few days have just proven the fact that there isnt an ounce of quit in her.
My mom asked me to thank you all for everything, for the blogs, cards, food, calls, prayers, and all of the encouragement all the time. I am not real good with words but i think all of you are a big part of the reason she just doesnt quit, RELENTLESS, is a great word, and all of you have been relentless with the support the love the uplifting words your all amazing and from the bottom of my heart i thank each one of you. Reading the blog puts a smile on my moms face every time and it lifts the rest of us up too so again thank you all so much we love you all and cannot say it enough times how much all of the beautiful messages mean to us and do for my mom. SHE IS BACK!!!!!!!! and with christmas right around the corner i think the best christmas present ever has already been given to all of us, another one with our hero who remembers three years ago when the doctors told us 3 months. lol i dont think they had any idea who they were dealing with and how stubborn she is aunt kris i think im seeping, oh well tears of joy
thank you all sooooo much i love you all and cannot wait for the celebration cause oh yea theres gonna be a party!!
joey and Debbie

Dear Joey,

Thanks for the great news! I thought Christmas was a reasonable goal for getting downstairs but your Mom said forget this "baby step" stuff and went right to walking skipping the crawling stage! She is amazing and so are YOU, Mike, and Jess too. I think along with her many friends you guys have to know how very much you have helped your Mom want to fight and get well with the love and care you have all provided. THANK YOU! It's nice to be a part of your Mom's and your families miracle this Thanksgiving.....

I'm sorry but that Kool and the Gang song was all I could think of after reading your wonderful blog, Joey.

Check it out FOD's and let's bust a move for Chizzie. I have a feeling she'll be busting her own moves by Christmas!

Celebration

I love how your mom "totally crushed' those stairs and got downstairs. I know how much she wanted to see her 'new living room'.

This is just fantastic news.

And to be back in her own bed!!!

You guys are the best medicine ever. And Chizzie, I knew you weren't through with us!

You are an amazing woman, mother and friend and I love you, love you, love you.

Joey:

OMG! Got a text from Meredith that there was a new blog and she was so giddy with the news of Debbie making it down the stairs.

We live at our house for news from 912. Debbie is now the topic at work with my co-workers reading the blog for updates and in many ways --- inspiration!

Joey it is even better hearing from you the admiration you have for the strides you mother has made. Remember the T-men +1 woman have made her comeback even more attainable by the outstanding care you have been giving her.

Debbie --- I am so glad you made it downstairs to see the sampler. That made my heart jump for joy!

You guys are all the best.

Love to all of the Teklits & Khouri's. COD Eileen

Hi honey-

Hope this finds you...downstairs! Seriously tho, I've been doing the happy dance and thinking of you since reading Joey's post.

Hope all is well today and that you are resting comfortably, eating good and rebuilding your strength.

I've been a little frantic here. Running around trying to get Mr. Hal ready for his trip to Ireland for a board meeting (Visitor Alison!) and the UK, where he makes a presentation at some conference. I'll meet up with him in London on Friday and we'll be spending our Thanksgiving there. (my name is mud in Ohio)

You know what it made me think of? The time you went to London to meet Joe during his law school days. For some reason, you got ready to leave at my house. Can't remember exactly why, but I can still see you in my mind's eye like it was yesterday. You wanted to be extra cute when you met up with Joe - he had been gone all summer! You looked so adorable. Do you remember what you were wearing? I do! ha-ha.

You had on a black, sleeveless dress that tied at the waist. It had a small standup collar trimmed in red. Your shoes were a pair of black espadrille sandals and a red bangle was on your wrist. (don't remember your purse...hmm.) Your hair was curled and so cute and your eyes just sparkled. You were so excited about the trip and seeing Joe again.

It's funny the things you remember, isn't it?

I love you honey. Hope reading this makes you think of that London trip and makes you smile!

I'm thinking of you and sending you big vibes, honey. I know your climb out of that big hole is frustrating and moving way too slow for you. You know what 'they' say - patience is a virtue that highly adorns women."

Which also brings us to today's word.

Patience

I am patient, kind, and loving.

A tiny seed must be nurtured and given time to develop into its full potential. I, too, develop in my own time, producing the fruits of Spirit I am meant to produce.

I remember to be patient with myself, allowing time for my God-given talents to be revealed. Words from a familiar prayer help me remain calm and assured:

Prayer of Faith
I now am wise, I now am true,

Patient, kind, and loving too. All things I am, can do, and be,

Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.

Saying this prayer reminds me that the loving presence of God within gives me the wisdom and strength to meet any situation.

"But as for that in the good soil, these are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance."--Luke 8:15

P.S. Pammy is that you?

Debbie and Family,

In a post above, Connie talks about tears of sadness and tears of gladness...geez, don’t we all know exactly what she means! The last two posts here--Friday evening’s post dictated by Debbie and Sunday evening’s post written by Joey--certainly have brought on the tears of gladness!

This past Friday night was a beautiful one here in central Florida...the temperature was in the mid-70s; fluffy white clouds filled the western sky, creating a glorious sunset; the eastern sky was almost crystal clear, as the nearly-full moon began its ascent. I was on a short walk with Neillie, our little ShihTzu, and we were almost home when the eastern sky lit up with an orange glow. I stood on the sidewalk in front of our house watching the Space Shuttle, Endeavour, rise into the night sky on its journey to the International Space Station. What a thrill it was to see that bright red/orange tail for nearly two minutes, before the spacecraft turned east and over the Atlantic Ocean; I had a chill running up my spine, a lump in my throat, tears in my eyes. We’ve seen eleven (I think) shuttle launches since moving to Florida, and they never cease to amaze me. Then, a few hours later this same Friday night, I logged onto the computer and read your post, Debbie; the chills and lump in the throat returned, and tears of gladness ran down my cheeks. The tears were back again on Sunday after reading your post, Joey. Oh, Debbie, you really are relentless...how astonishing your determination and how tremendous your efforts at healing! Oh, Joe, Jessie, Joey, Mike, you truly are a wonderful family...how incredible your devotion and care! More than any old Space Shuttle launch, the entire Teklits family is amazing!!!

My granddaughter, Kaitie, has a black tee shirt with white lettering that reads, “Come to the dark side, we have cookies!” No doubt, Debbie, it’s a very good thing you don’t remember much of being on the dark side, but is it possible you discovered cookies there?!? Guaranteed, they wouldn’t be nearly as good as those famous Debbie Teklits’ Chocolate Chip Cookies (which, by the way, Lari and Deidra have spent nearly twenty years attempting to replicate…never with much success)!!!

This evening, when he walked through the door and smelled something delicious cooking, Tim thought he’d walked into the wrong house!!! I haven’t baked this tasty meal for many years, but, with a nip in the air here and constant thoughts of you, Debbie Teklits’ Chicken Cheese Rolls seemed just the perfect thing to enjoy for dinner!!! There was a bit of trouble, when I couldn’t find my meat mallet and had to use my mother’s very old one (circa 1942!); I worried the metal mallet part would fly off the scared wooden handle, and tears of sadness filled my eyes for a moment when I thought of my mother and her using this simple kitchen tool so many years ago.

Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner; if you aren’t able to prepare all your delicious dishes yourself, hopefully you’ll be able relax in your family room and supervise the baking, cooking and roasting from the comfort of your sofa! Okay, enough about food!

Debbie, each and every day we think of and pray for you. Our hopes and prayers are that...with plenty of rest, good food, wonderful loving care...you continue to improve more and more with each passing day. The Radel family will be among many others when, on Thanksgiving Day (and every day, really), we thank God for blessings given you and yours.

With love,

Linda

Hi Deb,
Like all others I'm constantly checking in for updates. I hope you are continuing to show improvement. I can't believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday. This year has flown by. AJ and Mere got engaged in October. They are getting married Oct. 10 2009. The reception will be at White Manor CC in Malvern. They basically have everything done already. Today we are going to Kennett to look at houses with them. Now if Scott would move out we'd be back to empty nesters again. No such luck!
My grandchildren are growing like weeds. Addison weighed in at 19lbs 12 oz. for her 4 month well baby visit. She has gained 10 lbs since birth. She is such a pleasure. Usually Ethan is wonderful too. Of course if you met him at the outlets yesterday you would not think so. We must have been crazy to take two kids there. Oh well, we got a great deal on a rug for Addisons room. That's what we went for so we're happy.
I'm hoping you are enjoying this beautiful though freezing day.
Take care,
Betty
