Starting Vidaza Tomorrow @ HUP

Dear Fods,

I am slowly limping back from the last HUP stay but am very weak this time. It is taking longer and longer to recover from my stays at HUP. My girlfriends have taken me out 2 nights for dinner and Jessie and the kids came up for an overnight before they shipped out to Lebanon to visit Walid's family. They arrived about 1 hour ago (Thank God!!). Apparently, the kids were very good on the flight, slept for most of it, and watched movies for the rest of the trip. Jess and Walid, on the other hand, were probably up for the past 48 hours!

I start vidaza tomorrow as an out patient at the HUP clinic for the next 5 days. My wbc is elevated @ 28 and we are not sure what this is about (infection or elevated leukemia??). My ear is still tender but is finally back to a normal size. My eye is back in the socket and looks normal, although I have some some blurry vision. Once again, the steroids have cleared things up for me. As always, when I am on 40 mg of prednizone I am ravenous and am eating everything that comes close to my mouth. I am ordering from Piccini's as we speak!

We were thrilled to be able to go to Bobbie's party yesterday and see the family. The food was great and I ate everything on my plate. Afterwards, we came down to the shore and had a nice day and a half. While the weather is not the best, we did just come back from a walk on the beach -- if you call Joe holding my up while I stumble along a walk! But I did get to see the water.

Joe is off tomorrow and we head up to HUP in the early AM to start the treatment and will let you know how it goes with this new round. I need to stay out of HUP. I will nader down about 10 days after the end of the chemo.

Thank you for the cards, blogs, and calls. You are all so wonderful to hang in there with me and keep me afloat when times get tough.

I love you all.

Debbie

Debbie, glad to hear that Jessie et al made it safely to Lebanon, I hope they have an awesome trip. You are a true fighter in every sense of the word...I hope this round of treatment isn't too rough on you. If you need anything, you just say the word. Brian and I had a VERY busy weekend at the store, lots of graduation parties, lots of catering... I am all cooked out! We went this morning to Harrison's school to see him participate in the school talent show, it was adorable, his class sang a very cute alphabet song set to music from the Adam's Family.... just how stinking cute are these little angels of ours? Grandkids are the very best thing in the world. You stay strong my friend... I'll be praying for you,
Love, Patty

Hey, Deb! I've been luring on your blog (and, of course praying for you!) Working and babysitting doesn't leave much computer time. Liam's almost 14 mo. now and so much fun - but you know all about that! Grandkids are the best! So glad to hear yours had a safe and uneventful trip. Hang in there. Thanks for keeping up with the posts, Joe. Love & Prayers, Mussie

Hi Deb, I know we just post once and a while, but we check several times a day to see if there are any updates. I don't know Vidaza from Viagra, but I bet that Joe does! Anyway, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I don't know why all of this has come your way, but there is not a flinch that you make that the Lord doesn't know about. Somehow you are part of His plan, as are we all. Hang tough.

Love, Bob & Kay

Hi,
Hope all is going ok for you. I finally went to the beach on Friday afternoon. No sign of your family there.I can't believe that was my first time this year sitting on the beach. I've been on the boat all summer. There is something to be said about having a bathroom just feet away from where you are enjoying the sun.I hope all is well.

Debbie, it's been ages, sorry I haven't posted but it has been crazy to say the least. The store is very busy, we are growing leaps and bounds. We went to Orlando for a few day and that was a blast. It was so much fun seeing John and Sandra, Michael, Ang & Eileen, John & Ruthann etc.... we had a really nice trip and a lot of laughs. A great getaway.... but reality always has a way of rearing its ugly head so here we are back in the normal day to day rat race. (you know we wouldn't have it any other way...) Sandra is officially retired from the Air Force and safely home in Omaha with John..HOORAY!!! Janet is looking awesome, can't watit for Graham's arrival in October and the boys are simply heaven... LOVE those grandkids!!! Michael is working hard this summer as his 2nd year of college fastly approaches. Brian is fantastic as usual, he is truly my better half. Enough about me, how are you? Are you enjoying your shore home... I know how much you love the beach. Hope you are doing well. Thinking of you as always, Love,
Patty
